Sorry for my bad english

I was about to transfer some ETH to Exodus Wallet, copied and pasted the address on Coinbase press ok then was waiting, a lil bit later, i have made the same for LiteCoins, then checked and coinbase said: Transfer completed!....
What I saw, no money on exodus, and see that when I copy the address on paste it changes, for ETH, BTC, LTC, no other coins... the address that change are:

BTC 1GxgDFyy3H5br8AtpWpXd1jXhNoBokZTSa

ETH 0x6951E2Cc8E8Ea2102e5370CbAd608a819e308C55

LTC LcBvYYTdWrTyiDJFZia9nodD8oAhoWBUsS

I've checked the transaction info and I am not the frist one to fall
https://etherscan.io/address/0x6951E2Cc8E8Ea2102e5370CbAd608a819e308C55

Mine is: 0x79dc5f373fc3297312c283394abef77c996a6606ee2fa7c40817a8d0fbcab294 4622123 2 hrs 58 mins ago 0x5c7df0c98c11deba12c2efb0e7cac622e2f74786 IN 0x6951e2cc8e8ea2102e5370cbad608a819e308c55 0.01308 Ether

Checked the virus generated btc address

https://blockchain.info/address/1GxgDFyy3H5br8AtpWpXd1jXhNoBokZTSa

Please spread the word guys, and lets find a way to this could help others.

This is so alarming!

I'm so sorry to hear this. Please check your machine for spywares and viruses to avoid any loss in the future.

We should double or triple check or even spare some time whether or not we copied the exact destination address.
Avoid clicking or visiting suspicious sites and links for us not to be phished.
I did try to check online with an issue same as yours and I did found one.
This guy lost 13 BTC cos of this kind of virus that changes the destination address. https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-malware-changes-destination-wallet-to-steal-13-btc

Hoping that someday there's a way or some application that can possibly track down those addresses that are doing these kinds of scams. I think that would be possible in the future given the technology that we have right now.

Let's all be vigilant in reporting these kinds of schemes if you happen to bumped into someone doing those illegal activities.

This is quite alarming. Those genius who put virus in this community would later on introduce anti- virus. They always find a way to earn. Sad as it may seem, we should just have to be careful when transacting coins. There's no other way but to be careful and be wise.

This is a good advice that should always be followed, copy pasting viruses have been around for quite some time so if the amount of bitcoin you are sending is important to you you need to check the address where you are sending your coins, to be honest I do not know why people do not do this, when I send  a bank transference I check the numbers of the account several times to make sure I do not send to the incorrect account and the same must be done when you send a bitcoin transaction.
[/quote]

With bank transfer (which do not have any transaction fee in my country), I always test with a small transfer for any new account added. Once I transferred about $1000 by mistake to a wrong account. I talked to my bank and they said that it cannot be reversed and I will have to contact the bank having the account where I transferred. I submitted an application there and they contacted that customer and he send the money back. I think people do not do this with bitcoin transfer as fees are higher and multiple transactions will increase the burden.

This should alarm everyone given the fact that this issue was discovered a few years ago but it still exist because in just a matter of manipulating someone else's bitcoin address or other crypto wallet address, they can earn lots of money continuously. The ones that do these kind of things are cyber-criminals/hackers, they are everywhere on the internet so as internet is everywhere. Be careful when copy-pasting your addresses, double-check atleast the first and last three characters before submitting. Moreover, here is what an expert in this website tells about this malware "Trojan.Coinbitclip": https://ethereumworldnews.com/careful-copying-pasting-ethereum-wallet-address/. Be attentive always. Think before you click.

Yes, it was discovered a few years ago but the virus keeps evolving and I believed that up to now there are unsuspecting victims around the globe. They are not hackers anymore. I categorized them are criminals already. They have the malicious intent to stole from us, so that already deems are criminal offense.

We need to constantly updated our anti-virus because so as not to be another victim here. And worst, lost our hard earn money. Just don't click anything you find interesting. Due diligence is needed and of course our common sense.

Wow, I did read of this virus, what I do is always check the the first and last 3 digits of the address when I paste, that is the best way to check.

just file a copy of quarantined to anti virus or malware type of cleaner ehhehe to make it disappear and make anti virus for them..
this is very whelming for us .. just to be careful in clicking sites ads on sites of exchanger and other sites . basically you can get that by clicking that and it will automatically add malware to you.. I recommend to install anti malware and check first before making any transaction it is better safe than sorry

This virus is spreading so fast like the Trojan horse virus that makes a shortcut to removable devices such as flash drive, memory card and external hard drive, once opened, your pc is already infected. My friend is one of the victims of such hacking attempts of a virus called address changer virus. He's transferring some of his btc from a local exchange to his own wallet, push the transaction then got confirmed but when he checked his own wallet the amount is still 0, he called me and we found out that he sent his coins to another address, our suspicions is that the virus originated from a newly installed wallet application from the unknown crypto coin from the unknown source. We did install an antivirus scan the whole pc and found a bunch of worm and trojan horse viruses, so be careful about installing some unknown applications as they tend to contain some malware.
If you do not have the money to buy a hardware wallet you can easily buy an usb and install your OS there, that way when you are not using your wallet you just unplug your usb and you have cold storage for 10 dollars, this protects you from a lot of malware and if you do not install anything else but your OS and your wallet the chances you get a virus are almost zero percent.

Hackers, scammers and crypto thieves are now everywhere today. We need to be vigilant. Do not let your hard-earned coins get stolen. to maintain security I strongly recommend that you use a hard wallet because it has a more stringent security than online or offline wallet.

This is why my coinbase is not working I guess. I think this is also published on the news that they are being under attack from the Tore network. Thats really bad and I’m worried about the coinbase balance now. Does anyone know that will it be secure or there is any other news about the coinbase and exodus are in the safe sandbox or not. Also, whener I try to login to the coinable it only shows the blue bar up their and nothing loads up in the wallet, whole is screen is like white with blue bar. Please respond to my post if anyone does knows that something is bad is going to happen with my wallet so that I can take the precautions on urgent basis.

this is same as cookies but virus does not have high risk.if this virus can create a new pattern to solve keywallet , this so hard and high risk , and bitcoin developers would have overcome this.

wHAT IS that virus it sounds terrifying waaah. Did you get back your coins? Im afraid of those phishing viruses.

This is what you called a copy-and-paste-virus. Numerous thread has been opened here since last year.

This is one of the latest:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/copy-paste-virus-for-bitcoin-users-beware-1841658

That's why its very important to update your anti-virus very frequently and double check the addresses. Hackers are really targeting crypto because is very easy for they to stole our bitcoins and altcoins and they can easily hide it by using tumblers. So just be careful.

To the OP, bitcoin is irreversible so I don't think that you can get back your money. Thanks for the warning though.

some steps to stay safe from virus
1. Use a firewall

2. Scan for malware

3. Stay up-to-date : enable automatic updates in both Windows and applications.

4 Make sure your web email access – or, for that matter, any sensitive website access – is only via secure (https) connections, or that your regular mail program is configured to use only encrypted connections.

5 never install Softaware before check on virustotal.com

Just to be more careful, doing as safely as possible on anything in the world of crypto currency, we know in the internet world is very vulnerable and already a lot of hackers to spread the viruses that aimed to get whatever they want. The price of crypto currency is increasingly higher day, especially bitcoin, this can certainly be a nice target for hackers.
