ETF is coming for sure, apparently (Matrixport be damned): Fidelity, Grayscale and VanEck just filed the 8-A forms:

Initially there were many in the race for the first spot Bitcoin ETF: BlackRock, VanEck, Grayscale Investments, Hashdex, Valkyrie, Fidelity, Invesco, WisdomTree, Ark 21 Shares, and Franklin Templeton.
Now only Grayscale, VanEck and Fidelity have filed their 8-A.

at least some of the others would probably file later today or tomorrow (I don't believe that SEC would allow Fidelity, but not BlackRock, lol).
I am just glad that GBTC is among the first...I want that 8% discount gone ASAP.
I also wonder if arbs would play with those ETFs...we shall see if prices would deviate from NAV significantly, and they could (in a short timespan).

So I didn't read your post right off (it's a thought provoking image after all) and got all kinds of excited thinking you found a way to realtime that gif 😂Untill I saw the counter reset, then I read the post.
Long story short I wanted to make a signature that displayed an accurate block countdown on page refresh/block find and I thought you had it.

I just used a best-guess date for the halvening and a free countdown timer. You can sign up here and you'll get 10,000 image opens on the free plan.
The timer is fairly customizable - I added the background image but you don't have to... I'm not sure exactly how large an image you could put in your sig though... maybe use it without the image and resize the fonts?

Also, you can get JSON formatted data with all the pertinent block info for free here:

and enter that as a source at niftyimages which will enable you to grab info such as "blocks_left"
I set that one to update the JSON info every
last edit: JSON updating every 5 minutes
one final edit: with only 10k opens and each version taking 1 open per view, the math is killing the freebie account quickly. Paying for API access would cost over 9000 per year. (no joke, its $9,120 billed annually)
