Consumption of fine things after either 2024 or 2028 halvings?
..if your position lasts that long:

Example:

in 2015 less than $20 bought you 0.1btc

in 2023 0.1 btc buys you two premiere seats tickets to a U2 concert at the brand new Sphere (Las Vegas) plus a two night stay at the nice suite at Venetian or Palazzo and a two way flight.
Experiences count.

8 years later..in 2031... 0.1btc buys you? A car? Likely... A modest house?..less likely, perhaps.

EDIT: I'd recommend to change Buddy's policy to post a price update only if it moved by a certain amount of dollars.

Post a buddychart only if price moves more than 1% either direction since last post. Else wait another 60 minutes and check again.

Like Phil, I am just trying to keep my post count up.

I would not want to fall too far behind.. not that I should feel that I am falling behind anyone... but still.

The ONLY member that is close to passing up my number of posts is LoyceV..

At our current post rate, he will likely be surpassing me at some point in the next year or two.
I'm just bored a bit, watching my Xeon E5 crunching some numbers to distill some deep space data from three nights ago.

But it does it's job, every time, almost like king daddy, but not 24/7  Cool

Wasn't there some word count list of WO users, from a couple of months ago? I just realized i've been here since about six years now-

Yeah.. post count and word count. .and I am thinking that not every WO got a word count done on them, and surely that would have been several years ago.. .. it might have been just me.. .. .. but you could not just do me, without having some kind of a reference (or comparison point) and I cannot remember the details either..

I was thinking more in the 10-25 Dollar range.

EDIT: 1% would be too much imo. 0,1% fits the purpose of getting rid of those flatline-charts in series, which my suggestion mainly was about.
Personally, i don't care about the price reminder if it is less than 1% change, but $100 as a "limit" is fine too (at these prices).
imho, $15-25 is too "granular" for being of much use.
I don't know, really. Both of our opinions are right.
After all, CB was meant as a service to us, so why do we get so annoyed by it? I mean, if we had more postings going per hour, how much would CB's posts weigh in contrast? It's too dynamic to form an easy decision, somehow (at least for me).

That seems to be part of the reason that no change to "our" buddy is needed.

Thank god (or richie_t, whichever comes first) for our ability to have a buddy that shows us walls and prices upon the hour every hour and without fail (except when it does fail), and it's starting to seem like a moment to stop whining about our ability and privilege to have a nice thing. that is also called our buddy thingie-ma-jiggie.

On second thought, the frustration about CB "spamming" is maybe just an expression of the things we (or some of we ... er... WO) want to see: CB posting hourly in number-goes-up-laura times? More like the old human habit of blaming the messenger for bad messages?
Still, no reason to not adapt CB's code for update frequency depending on magnitude of price change.
I'm seeing it more like a thought experiment. In the end it's Richie's decision.

I have no major qualms with CB, typically, with two caveats:

1. Long stretches of CB are giving an impression that this board is "dead".
2. Interruptions in ongoing conversations, which is a very small factor, but it reminds me of a Howard Stern movie when he was told to announce weather quite often, so he made a hilarious way to do it, willfully interrupting the narration flow to insert weather in a hilarious way.

In short, i would prefer less vociferous CB, that's all.
On a regular stable day once in 4 hr is OK, maybe even more than once an hour when we are mooning and/or plunging.

Imagine problem no 1. would be addressed and solved by implementing your suggested changes. Wouldn't make it CB appear more buman-like?
As far as one can speak about "charm" in that manner, i would want a bot be more like a bot than a human?

And of course, if Jay really is a bot, wouldn't that put his opinion about CB in a shady light, a bit, perhaps?  Wink

EDIT: I'd recommend to change Buddy's policy to post a price update only if it moved by a certain amount of dollars.
The buddy posts a chart on hourly basis and if none of us make a post then we'll see buddy only. I also believe that limiting buddy is somewhat good for the WO thread. I believe buddy should post charts when price pumps a lot or dips a lot and other than that it would make 1 post in 4 hours if the price doesn't change a lot.
I was thinking more in the 10-25 Dollar range.

I think even $100 isn't a good range as that can happen many times and the Buddy will somehow spam if that price range takes place many times during the pumps or dumps. I believe that $200 to $250 would be a better range for Buddy to show us the charts so we can get a better picture of what's happening in the market, and Philpma1957 will also be in peace because he'll remain as the top poster if the main competitor buddy gets limited.

If it's not broke, don't fix it.
Let's break it ourselves and then fix it. I think it needs the fix and it might be broke but we aren't aware of it. Let's do it for the betterment of the thread and for the happiness of the users who want that.

The more you guys talk about the details including how many percent might be a sufficient threshold, the more it seems to be not broken the way that it is, and also Jimbo made a good point about buddy still providing interesting data because it is showing the the walls.

So why be fucking around with a good thing merely because some members seem to not know how to use a scroll wheel.

Seems to show a lot of gullible (or wanna believe) or like you suggest, pure scammer accomplices.
