Back to the source ... http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-08-09/tom-lee-bitcoin-will-be-best-performing-asset-through-year-end

Quote
“The supply of bitcoin is starting to slow. Within the next 2-3 years the number of coins discovered or mined or rewarded will be slower than the amount of gold discovered, so bitcoin will be a rarer unit than gold.”

“There’s $7.5 trillion worth of gold out there, so gold dwarfs the currency in circulation, and if bitcoin captures just five percent of that alternative currency, it could fetch as much as $25,000 to $50,000 a share.”

oh and this, too ...

Quote
“We did a study and published it in early July…[bitcoin] has a lot of characteristics that are similar to gold and will ultimately make it attractive as an alternative currency. It’s a good store of value. The encryption and the distributed ledger not only act as a means of protection, but it actually has an industrial use that could be replacing a traditional payment platform.

Seriously guys, WTF is a NEO ?

According to the Shitcoin Gazette:

Quote
NEO has recently gained some notoriety due to its collaboration with Chinese certificate authorities to map real-world assets using its smart contract technology. NEO has also signed partnership agreements with several startup companies.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks. Read in an article that it's being called the 'Chinese Ethereum'. So naturally my first thought was, "Well then what's the point of ETH then if it's not going to be universally accepted?" The article also highlighted that NEO had some improved technologies and updates like sharding and concurrency that even ETH doesn't have yet. Kinda like an Ethereum 2.0.

Not that I'm interested. I'm wondering if it's even open source.... or in readable English...

It used to be called Antshares. I guess this is a rebranding pump. But if Dennis Rodman isn't involved they can forget it.

So I'm heading off to thailand fully paid for by the free coins tomorrow, and I need a new suitcase. I'm thinking pink for easy visibility, but maybe an ugly yellow would work too. Thoughts?

I did a week in Thailand a few months ago. Great time, beautiful women. Cheap prices. You start to decide whether you want a nicer hotel for $45 or just go with a regular one for $25. Went to one of the islands and spent $200/night on a 5 star luxury hotel with a stairway to the pool right off of my patio on the ocean (sea?).

I plan on retiring in January and will go live there. Got a beautiful gf out of the deal as well.

Which island, which hotel?

Bitcoin FTW!
I wonder when Lightning will finally be implemented. It'll probably be the last piece of the puzzle and that could make price rise a little bit. As of now it's just SW, which is nice as it is, but Lightning will be the real kicker. Not the end-all, but it helps futureproof Bitcoin and is a temporary scaling solution that's at the very least better than what we have now.

I thought he was Thai through and through.

I don't think so, but I don't know for sure. We PMd some, but I never met him. He had a brother that went to college in Midwest USA, not too far from me. I know he spent some time there, perhaps visiting. My sister sells grass-fed lamb meat at a farmer's market, he was interested in that, but did not make it. At the time I was playing live music at a small-time weekend jam, he was potentially going to stop by. I've quit that, but I played over 250 public gigs in 4 years.

He posted a pic here of (presumably) himself, new wife significant other, and a little boy. He and the little boy definitely appeared Caucasian.

This was about the time of the Gox ATH of $1200-ish, and he got the Lambo.

Just watch out if she's a bar girl. They're fun, but almost never good marriage material.

Please excuse me. I've committed sacrilege, apostasy. I've profaned CORE name with my blasphemies. I've violated the holy rule of not speaking against your spiritual leaders! I'm sorry.

Seriously, could you show me where the disinformation is?
And since core fills your mouth talking about decentralization, can you explain how the LN transactions will be processed in a decentralized way?

Actually you committeth a far greater crime. You have createth a newb troll account with < 50 posts (why is it always so??) and started concerning trolling in WO in a condescending tone.

Welcome to /ignore. Have a nice day.

First of all, it is not a new account. It was created only two months after his.
Second, i'm spanish speaking, so my participation in the community is not limited exclusively to this forum.
Third, i own a starup around bitcoin, so my concerns are genuine and are pretty far from trolling.
I discuss and think about bitcoin because its long-term development interests me.
I have asked reasonable questions, about reasonable concerns, and all have been answered with stupidities.
From my point of view, the troll is you.

Quick recap maybe of what caused that 180 degree turn of opinion, both on the block size issue itself, and the disdain for people citing Satoshi?
Politics as usual. Some people just want to be contrary for the sake of it and sometimes they get their way.

In Spain it is also possible to acquire residency (for the owner and direct parents) buying real state for more than 500.000€ (no mortage) and coming at least once every six months.

As a Brit who spends vast amounts of time lurking in Europe I might have to end up bloody doing this unless there are some key assassinations.

Yeah, if this Brexit bollocks doesn't go away I think I'll be surrendering my UK passport for a Spanish one.

Is the 500.000€ property purchase thing for all non-Europeans @bitserve?

I think so. At least it seems many Russians and Chinesse do take it:

http://www.elconfidencialdigital.com/dinero/millonarios-conseguido-residencia-comprar-Espana_0_2344565534.html

But, a 500.000€ property nowadays is a 1.25-2 mill € property of some years ago when we were at the peak of the real state bubble. So the amount requirement is a bit too high currently as it is probably too much for a secondary residence (I think it doesn't need to be your "home", it can be an investment in several properties for renting or whatever that sum 500K).

Oh, there are some additional requirements such as not having criminal records and all that burocracy stuff.

I personally know some (rich) Venezuelan families which took advantage of the offer... plus registering companies here that employ themselves so that they can also access to public health system and all that shit.

I thought decentralization was good?

Which part of being ruled solely by a corrupt and incompetent government that's set on doing away with human rights in a move that's going to destroy trade relations and prevent free movement of its own citizens do you consider "decentralization"?

Is a Bitcoin miner mining alone in a prison cell with a brutal prison guard, on a processor taken from a Commodore 64 and with no internet connection a more decentralized solution than the whole rest of the Bitcoin network?

wow, poisoning the well and a straw man in one sentence

I doubt there is any utility in further engagement on this topic

Yeah... Why would someone go to Thailand instead of Las Vegas?
The fuck would I do in vegas except go broke?

Thailand is cheap, is not FUCKING COLD and has some of the best food in the world. Also, bargirls.

Besides the obvious, I'm very curious to see if I can make enough money trading bitcoin with the locals to pay for the stay. If so, why would I not live in a high quality hotel in a great country instead of a far more expensive apartment in a frozen wasteland?

Now you can buy residency in Thailand for 5-10 years or longer. I'm willing to bet other countries in Asia start to follow suit.

Jesus ... it costs a few hundred bucks to get a retirement visa, then a few tens of dollars a year to renew it. These packages do very little more for you unless you really want a work visa(?), lotsa spa appointments, maybe an annual health check etc. Lot of money for bugger all IMO.

Don't forget the economy in SE Asia is booming right now, especially Vietnam. Construction everywhere while citizens are gaining wealth and the new generations are becoming very educated.   It's kinda refreshing to be around.

I love it, it's the same reason I went into bitcoin. But, at the moment, CORE does not represent that vision.
Core is limiting the use of bitcoin exclusively to offchain transactions. Just watch your reaction to the Segwitx2 deal. Core represents centralized power, and does not respect community consensus.

Oh god they're back ... where is it you guys all go to get schooled/programmed with your lies and disinformation bullet points? You're like goddammned bots.
.... visions ... blah-bla-blah ... core limiting bitcoin .... derp-herp-burp ..... core-centralised ... blah-blah-bleep-bop.

Hi. We are here to talk to you about Satoshis vision, do you have a few moments?

[moderately funny meme omitted]

Thought I remembered something from a very solid thread a while ago...

I am almost certain that if Satoshi had originally coded a block limit doubling every 2 years along with block reward halving every 4 years then this would never have been discussed or even pondered in so much questionable detail. People would be like, "Oh yeah, that's the way it works, let's just deal with now". [...]

Quick recap maybe of what caused that 180 degree turn of opinion, both on the block size issue itself, and the disdain for people citing Satoshi?
