In simple terms, why you should hope cryptocurrency dies and gold and silver defeats them:

All cryptocurrencies are inherently rent seeking usury systems and a pseudo form of debt based currency if you will. The PoW chain does not just magically stay up on it's own, it requires a constant upkeep to exist at all (rent). A peer to peer physical gold or silver transaction can be done with no overhead cost; they're the equivalent of an off-chain transaction with no middleman or monopoly man gouging you with usury fees.

Cryptocurrency is completely different.  Even if you attempt to do off-chain transactions via something like lightning network, or even in-person transactions with physical bitcoin bearer bonds, the transactions ALWAYS have to be settled on-chain eventually, so you are NEVER escaping the rent seeking usury system.  Since the blockchain is highly scaling constrained, it's like condeming yourself to extreme usury in the end game.  Bitcoin PoW is designed to centralize and the cartels running the mining operations will either be taken over by TPTB who already run the current system, or will just be a recreation of them in practice.

The further you abstract money away from barter, the larger a scam it is.  Only physical commodity based currencies are sound money that remove middlemen while allowing you to escape the debt based, rent seeking usury system.

Let me tell you why I don't like gold and silver, and also I think they will become redundant:

- Gold & Silver can be scanned trough borders, because those are in the group of some of the most dense metals. Those scanners are for radioactive materials, but they pick up gold, silver, copper very easy as well.

- The Solar System is full of gold & silver, and also the more economic growth the world will see, the more sophisticated equipment and bigger trucks will be invented for more efficient mining!!! Might I remember you that we have thousands of kilometers of matter under our feet??

- The population of the globe will start to decline. Mostly because of technology and higher education. So people that will live longer will just be complacent in their comfort zone and not drive economic panic of gaining wealth. Also there is a lot of real estate that needs to be used by lesser people.

So R0ach... get real! Smiley     (even if I might think in the short term in the next 2-3 years Gold & Silver are devalued and they will get back to better values... but then what?? Smiley )

This sums up the whole story. Grin

So, when will we see the $3000? I do not want to be the one that takes people joy, but whenever it's close to $3000 the price drops a lot, is it finally that I'll see  $3000 this time?

Can't really stockpile gas. Even after treatment with Sta-Bil, it gets gummy and useless after a year or so.

I've put gas in one of my cars more than a year ago, as it's a project (1989 BMW 320i coupe) waiting for spare cash to burn, I've started it the other day (using cables) and it ran fine, so the gas must still be OK.

Yep. I have had cars left for even a couple of years and no problem with the gasoline.

I think it is gasoil what degradates more quickly.

The current ATH in USD is $2980, right?  Just over $100 away...

I think the EUR ATH is just over €2600 (€2618?), about €170 away.  Soon, I think, very soon.... and my bet is going to be miles out  Cheesy

Those figures don't make much sense with the current USD/EUR exchange rate, I think it must have changed a bit since the old ATH  Undecided

You are right. The Euro is doing pretty well lately compared to the USD.

I have been telling people about bitcoin since 2013. A few friends listened and hey have made a lot of money. Most people back then had little or no interest with the exception of a small percentage.

Yesterday one of my staff told me he had bought some XRP. He said he relt the 20 euro charge for buying his bitcoin was too high. Not sure where he was looking. He only bought around 200 euros of XRP so a 10% fee does seem a lot. I told him he needs to buy more. Lol

A bus driver that comes in my work also told me yesterday he bought £250 of Bitcoin a few weeks back. He said he is still about £15 down so he must have bought at the top. I told him not to stress and all will be good in he end.

Slowly slowly it is happening. People are interested when they know I use Bitcoin. They want to hear what you have to say.

Gentlemen
I have found that the level of knowledge within my circle of friends here in the UK is still rather minimal, even though I have been harping on about it since 2013 as well.
That said, I was surprised to hear one of my poker colleagues comment the other week that BTC wa doing "quite well". But no-one I know has invested any money into it yet. Almost everyone I speak to say the same thing, "Its too expensive"Huh I tell them they dont have to purchase a whole coin but they keep thinking this must be the top!!!
Oh how little they know

Does anybody think that it will fall next days to ~2.2k levels or its going to break 3k wall?

If we would know that for sure we would be going all in/all out.

That said... I find WAY more probable to break 3k in the coming days than to fall back to 2.2k.

Yep, my buddy today was shocked when I said you don't have to buy a whole bitcoin. He said he had to re-think his whole strategy now.

I really don't care about getting someone to buy bitcoins just to make money.

I think the next person to ask me about investing in bitcoins I'll give them a speech about the evils of the Federal Reserve and why Bitcoin is important for the future of liberty. If they let me finish I'll walk them through buying their first bits.

My buddy who actually started buying about $400 worth per paycheck last year bought it after I told him to download the wallet then sent him $10 worth of bitcoins. That is usually the best way to show the power of Bitcoin. The wheels start turning then.
