Hey, look Mods! People talking about altcoins here in this thread for pages and pages!

But of course if *I* have something mentioned about an altcoin in one of my posts, it gets deletely instantly!

Alts are flat today  Sad

At least the freefall stopped on BTC, that's encouraging. What's weird "from what I see" BU hash is down yet blocks found by BU are gaining  Huh Its above my pay grade to figure out lol

Shitty alts are flat....

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/unobtanium/

the rarest & fairest of them all is slightly less than flat - but dont tell everyone, or theyll be in here trying to fork it to death

overpriced alts eventually gonna be converted back to cheap bitcoin. endless cycle
Since bitcoin is coming back up from $935 all the way back up to $967 it is looking like top alt coins are losing value because of it now.
The price of ethereum is slinking back slowly from $55 to $52 again where it was late last night and even the highly decorated dash is sliding back under $100 again to $97.
The war of the alts vs btc continues. Grin
Just the natural Altcoin cycle as the pumping stops and the dumping begins as Bitcoin begins to regain some land. We're still seeing resistance at the 960s but support is keeping it there. Next few hours are critical. Bad for my small Dash mining rig but Bitcoin is much more important to me Smiley

You're never too old to think young.
Good afternoon Bitcoinland. Just made it home from Thursday night.

Seems I missed some excitement. All the way down sub-$900 and halfway back up... currently $967USD (Bitcoinaverage).

Saturday was the first full day in triple digits in almost 2 months. Hopefully it was just one day.

Tomorrow I should get some more fiat. I'd hate to have missed a chance to buy under $1000.

This is neither a wish nor a fact. It can't be a fact; it is an observation. Here's a prime example:

BitPay Won’t Use Bitcoin Alternatives For Payment Systems Despite Scaling Issues
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitpay-wont-use-bitcoin-alternatives-payment-systems-despite-scaling-issues/

Nobody in their right mind is going to jump on board of these scam coins. 99.9% are utterly horrible. Only those led on by pure greed would jump on this bandwagon for real (e.g. early bagholders).

That said, UASF Segwit should move us forward towards more capacity and to secondary layer solution. THe price is bound to increase as soon as this get safely deployed. One day we may be looking back at this time, and call it the 'dark ages' of mining cartels. Cheesy

Actually it is an assumption (and I hope an exaggeration). What I observe is that non-BTC volume has been growing relatively, and this suggests more people bypassing BTC entirely in this game - whatever anyone's opinion of them may be, including Bitpay's.

As for UASF Segwit, I hope it goes swimmingly, but it frankly feels like something hatched by Che Guevara and that unnerves me.

The retrace up the way is happening because the it's becoming apparent that BU had about a snowballs hope in hell of making any significant dent in hashpower, who's migratory trends have now reversed.

They couldn't event dent the signalling to within a remote hope and that's almost cost-free.

If you analyze today's blocks vs. the last 2016 blocks, you will notice that all Segwit-signaling pools have gained hashrate. Thus, it's unlikely for this uptick to be caused by luck. It was caused by BU's hardfork provocations causing miners to switch pools.

Bitcoin Unlimited, just like Bitcoin Classic, BitcoinXT, and all the other worthless attempts at division, is losing the PR battle, to be forgotten until the next wave of traitors emerges.

Bitcoin FTW!
The whole BTC 'crash' is fake and is organized by bitcoin 'Jesus' 'Judas' himself. Today thousands of BTC were dumped with no reason at all exchanges simultaneously. A classic example: BTC rose to 980 USD on Polo and Bitfinex. Sell bids like 100-ish BTC and more were eaten easily. And then... 200 BTC dump on Polo Buy Book and 200 BTC dump on Bitfinex as low as 950 USD! This is the dirty war of this 'Jesus' against Core team.  These people lost their minds thinking with 300K BTC can do whatever they want. Not gonna happen, losers!  Grin
We got a dump of 53BTC at 966 just now on Finex so I partially agree with you, but it could all just be a coincidence. Not a BTU supporter at all but I just hope we can get this shit over with and have our good ol' Bitcoin back. Could very well be Core opponents dumping but it seems unlikely to me at this point.

With Bitcoin bouncing off the weekly 20 SMA, Segwit hashrate overtakes that of BU, making it clear to sellers how hysterical they have been with their hardfork fears. At the very least, prepare for a big retrace.

Price is heavily discounted. Buy or die.

Long time no see, Blitz.

A signal SW has ended the war means a retrace is inevitable.   I am not sure the war is over yet though, even though I wish it was.
Yeah, price has been on a relatively boring trajectory since my last post. Not that I don't like boring – a multi year bull market was the favored scenario.

The war isn't over, and that's the point. It's really the same stalemate as always, and the hardfork fears of the last couple days were unfounded since BU won't reach a hashrate far enough above 50% (I believe if they did it with say 55%, even their own BU community would start turning against them since they know how risky it is) to reliably pull off a hard fork. The price did well enough with a 1 MB block size and will continue doing so. The problem here IMO was the perceived risk of hardfork, and that is now alleviated.

I'm not sure what to think about a fork... or if it will happen lol, but ETH and ETH classic have done relatively well for themselves since. Of course ETH will prevail as the leader because of its dev support. Although that was a timed and controlled fork.

ETH is a centralized coin that can avoid chaotic circumstances, precisely due to its centralized control.

Didn't realize it was a centralized coin because I thought all cryptocurrency no matter if they are alt coins are decentralized.
Well that changes my perspective on how I view ethereum now.

No, it's not an inherent property of cryptocurrencies. The ideal is of course to be decentralized, but this is rarely the case. Plus centralization is not a white/black value, it has various degrees. There are also various types of centralization. Some cryptocurrencies are heavily centralized in their developers who set he course, others in miners (pow coins), others in stakeholders (pos coins), etc.

Well not really centralized.... I don't think any coin is really centralized. I think Miners choose to mine it because of its support and hash per dollar is much better, at least right now lol

Maybe centralized in that is has strong dev support that can add to code or alter etc. so? Idk lol

Altcoins with evolving feature set are typically very dev-centralized. If the dev issues 5 feature-forks or bugfix-forks a year, you can't really stay behind because you'll be sitting on a dead chain.

Yes that's more of the reality of crypto's. POS generates coins to the holders of that coin in their wallets. And no miners can dictate that. So it varies in the term centralized that way. Id say POS is far more centralized.. then say Bitcoin.

Eventually, ETH maybe will move to POS then Id consider it pretty much centralized... if that all makes sense  Grin

I thought that was the plan already

Thx, but I'm leaving some fiat on the exchange for the next panic sale. I'm confident that we'll have some in the near future.
