All future and present coins are the victim of bitcoin's success. It got most of its troubles out the way when it was nowhere. Nowadays there's so much more knowledge and money sloshing around that anything that sticks its head above the parapet is gonna have tons of people looking to rape it.

Meanwhile bitcoin keeps on rolling and growing.

Finex is down for scheduled? maintenance. Upgrade will last 45-60min  Undecided

* on topic speculative comments

Thanks for the heads up.

I thought it was having a quiet period, then after 20 minutes realised something was wrong. They could have picked a worse time for maintenance like in the middle of a pump or a dump. The price has stabilised over the last few hours. I hope it stays stable until finex is back up.

The difference with bitcoin is its security algo is simple and the code is locked down. Ethereum is fatally flawed because it is turing complete with a huge attack surface. This is why rootstock is looking to make the attack surface really small with sidechains and secure it better with merge mining for smart contracts. For the sake of their investments they will learn from this event and sell their ETH for BTC further driving up BTC price so we both benefit.* Those left behind will certainly be exposed to more of these "hacks", and much more problems than bitcoin faced in 2010.

I speculate that the fallout from those other things that are not going up  Roll Eyes will come back to BTC and create support walls.

Speculate and wall was mentioned, does this pass the censorship?

Got a pm from a mod. I think he's genuinely trying to keep this sub topical, without favoring Red Team or Blue Team. Which seems reasonable, this is a speculation board.

I've just woken up to the best sight of my life and it wasn't the BTC drop or the BTC recovery but ETH/BTC making a 40% drop, YES

I'm actually shocked that ETH/DAO supporters are shocked that a flaw in their system was found and exploited, in such a coin/network so young.  Bitcoin went through that kind of hell regularly in its first few years, until all major exploitable bugs were found and squashed.

That's all I will say about it, since this is a Bitcoin forum.

You're never too old to think young.
An early good morning Bitcoinland.

I see we finally got the predictable correction/profit-taking after bouncing off $780 (although this might have been as much a long squeeze as a profit-taking) and we're right back to a little above where we were at this time yesterday.

It basically lost about $15 while I was sleeping. No big thing after gaining about $80 in a day.

Meanwhile the alt shills have been quieted by the news of the hacking of their little centralized scam.

Sorry, no Chartbuddy quote today. CB seems to be AWOL.
_______

Edit: While I was typing (and making coffee) we dipped another $10. Still no big thing. Still not a dip worth buying.

I just can't suffer through another long bear market. I'm fragile.

I must agree you have to be a bit of a masochist as a bitcoin saver. But you have to keep in mind that the slight itch of continuous fiat inflation causes way more pain long term.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but finex longs gone full retard off deep end and are at $42.5MM now, while shorts are relatively unchanged. If they're squeezed everyone is going to have a bad time

Well.. Nostradamus! Impressive Cool

Unreal how there are no real pullbacks, In the end this is going to cause a violent snapback at some point.

Such accuracy, much clockwork *_*

 >>

Doesn't look like it effected longs at all. Guessing most of them are too into green to be squeezed that easy. So we go back up until another try further up.

btw,
who sold at bottom?

We'll find out soon enough, once they start posting FUD here to try to drive the price back down.
