This is why btc can't lose to ETH, simply because it doesn't fight it. It's like claiming a fork is better than a knife.
Bitcoin is the swiss knife in the crypto world. It can be used to fit all your needs.

Bitcoin is the rock of the crypto world. You can use it as a hammer, or make crude knife-like stone cutting things out of it.
Of course, no point in doing that -- we have real hammers and knives, stop trying to be difficult Smiley
Bitcoin is the Swiss army knife of the crypto world. Different tools attached to it are the sidechains. It is not difficult to understand this. Stop trying to be a dick.

Nah, if you insist on the army knife analogy, Bitcoin is the French, the French army knife.

Everything you need. Everything you need to get screwed before you surrender, that is.

We will return to the Dunning and Kruger Show in a moment. But first, a quick word from our sponsors...

Full marks for that reference Smiley  I had been thinking exactly the same thing.

I am reminded of the joke about two bald men fighting over a comb; in this case its two arrogant fools fighting over who has the least self-awareness.

>two bald men fighting over a comb
>hundreds of neckbeards fighting over blocksize limit
Mine's funnier.

You might want to be a bit more nuanced when comparing arrogant fools. Billy Joe is often dead wrong, but that's more of a "warped" than "stupid" -- like having spectacular IQ and, at the same time, believing they're controlled by Saurian J00z or being a twisted murderer. The world's full of people like that (usually not that grotesque, but you know what I mean). They're often fun to hang out with, because have weird ways of seeing the world/interpreting problems, and, since they're smart, coming up with weird/unusual solutions.

Now, granted, some of the things they come up with interesting solutions for aren't really pressing problems, or, rather, are problems for a very small number of people. Examples would be monowheel, death camps/self-sustaining human incineration ovens, internet-enabled toasters, and decentralized money.

And the solutions are, typically, very clever. Pulse-jet powered, clockwork & gyro-guided cruise missiles, perpetual crematoria as revolutionary and efficient as the Bessemer converter -- ignore the "problems" being solved, and the solutions become absolutely brilliant!

Now JayJuanGee, he's not that. He's a typical, run-of-the-mill buffoon who recycles other people's ideas and restates them in too many words. Without adding anything new. A waste of time. Neither hot nor cold, so the trick is to spit him out of your mouth.

What is the collateral for your 50 btc loan?

Bitcoin is not even attempting to do what ETH does.
Not true. Rootstock is doing it better because it is using the safest blockchain on this planet - the bitcoin blockchain.

If my understanding is correct, bitcoin and ETH are something vastly different.
ETH can't be superior because its purpose is different. Bitcoin is not even attempting to do what ETH does.

Also we are in need of more commercial breaks in here.

You're understanding is perfectly correct. But nobody understands it. Thousands of idiots own ETH without even understanding what it is and what is its purpose...

Disclaimer: I don't own any Ethers nor BTC, won't buy Ethereum because it is an obvious bubble and won't buy Bitcoin until I see actual development regarding the latest issues.

So it is "the latest issues" that have prevented you from buying bitcoin this whole time?

 Roll Eyes

Hopefully they clear up the latest issues so we can be so privileged to have some of your precious fiat.

things you own end up owning you
The Bitcoin cult is so butt hurt over Ethereum, we all agree that  the price is forming an obvious bubble, but anyone trying to convince me that Bitcoin is superior to Ethereum is either an ignorant or didn't spend enough time to study what Ethereum is and/or what it can do. What a shame, instead of embracing a great innovation, Bitcoiners are swimming in denial and delusion....

Clueless!
ETH market cap just lost 100 million.  But no rise in btc?

Le me 'splain.
The same fuckin' bitcoins that startid the pump has continued the pump. There ain't no new moneys, get it? and the best part, it's the same fuckin bitcoin that was given to them in the ipo. Free money to pump their worthless fuckin' shit.
BRILLIANT.
Yeah, Ethereum devs can spend more time skiing in the Alps now. No more crying about the 9M they "lost" when they sucked the value out of the bitcoins raised in their IPO.

Yep there is that........this could make paycoin and gaw look like amateur hour as far as 'scams' ...bigger faster stronger...tata ho Smiley (old enb mmorpg aside) Smiley

(then on the other hand had a buddy talk me into 1 btc into the lisk ico ...sheesh......at least I could have put it in a paper wallet and had a nice 1 btc bonfire likely)

silly hairless human primates..tossing 'poo' ..what does a person expect (no wonder the rest of the universe imho avoids us at all costs..we are like the hillbilly relatives ) Smiley

Nobody can ever call Vitalik anything other than brilliant. He's a bona fide genius.

I saw him speak at Decentral in Toronto back in January 2014, on the eve of the ETH IPO.. He was brilliant and almost had me convinced that giving him bitcoins for ethers would have been a great deal.

I looked into ETH, read the white paper and decided that while the concept of smart contracts and a decentralized P2P programming platform were ground-breaking, and the "ASIC-proof" mining algorith was impressive, something just didn't smell right about the business model.

I took a pass on the IPO. Needless to say, during these last few weeks I've come to question that decision as the price soared. I've always thought that Ethereum has great promise and it was only the way they marketed it that made me skeptical. Maybe I'll still consider buying some ethers once the inevitable crash occurs.

Well, he became a millionaire spinning his bullshit, so yeah, I'd say he's brilliant. That thing you smelled, btw, was bullshit.
He certainly knows how to spread technobabble thick. I've read his white papers since his "Second Bitcoin" one first Ethereum White paper. I can't find the earliest version. He takes a long time to make a point and you're not even sure if it is. He is not eloquent because he doesn't really know what he's talking about. I suggested that gas is a protocol level fee market, which is what I've advocated for years, but he said no it is a fee cost, but you can figure out the market. Potato potato. IOW he spins everything to make an argument even when there isn't one. He's smart, but he seems to prefer to make money over a useful system. So he made an OS out of Bitcoin. People have been writing systems for decades. He still thinks PoS is a good idea ffs.
