People are making money with altcoins, while you're just sitting here with your bags full of bitcoins, praying for a 2% rise.
Slow people will always be slow. They were slow to discover bitcoin and they're too slow to jump ship when needed. I personally don't recommend financial speculation to people who are slow. There are more suitable ways for slow people to make money.

Looks like it...

Everyone jumped ship, I guess they got tired of the manipulation?

Maybe bitcoin will become the altcoin of litecoin...

...I can't believe what i'm seeing... I'm just too uncertain to hit that buy button.

Looks like a bubble to me though. Litecoin also crashes..

It's possible litecoin has become the steam-valve of frustrated bitcoin traders who are sick of the price suppression and pump and dumps.

The only reason Litecoin is rising so much quicker than Bitcoin is because it has such a smaller market cap. When the price dropped, it also fell a lot lower than Bitcoin. I bought a bunch of Litecoin back in 2013 for about $3 each when Bitcoin was around $100. It went up to $50 at Bitcoin's $1200 peak and just a few months ago at it's lowest it was under $2.

Litecoin is Bitcoin's volatile little brother.

yea cuz noobs rather have ks of litecoins for the same price of barely 5btc.

Expect a large portion of this pump in LTC to land into BTC as a safe haven. It has happened before - it will probably happen again. BTW: The ATH is still far off, the log inclination though shows that we're en route for a burst. Just my 2c.

Chinese exchanges done goofed?
OKcoin and Huobi at the same time ? It got to 1734 (278.59 USD) on OK and then froze? WTF is goin on?
Meanwhile finex drops hard.
indeed, what's up??

The finex dump might be related to the news that Greece has said they will start pension and tax reform by next week if they can have more money from the EU. You can read the whole letter they sent to the EU at the link below the quote. They have refused to discuss pension reform until now so it makes it look like they they might yet do a deal to stay in the EU. Everyone's speculating the Bitcoin price has been rising on fears of a Grexit and this new offer from Greece might prevent one. That might be why people started dumping.

Quote
Consistent with the principles of this medium to long term Programme, the Republic is committed to
a comprehensive set of reforms and measures to be implemented in the areas of fiscal
sustainability, financial stability, and long-term economic growth. Within the framework of the
Programme, we propose to immediately implement a set of measures as early as the beginning of
next week including:

• Tax reform related measures
• Pension related measures

Doesn't this include the recent spam attacks/stress tests?

I was under the impression those would be filtered out by my choice of 'excluding popular addresses', but I could be wrong. At least the Coinwallet part of it used a small set of addresses AFAIK, so by my understanding these shouldn't be included in the graph I posted - but I didn't look into this deeply enough to say so with certainty.

Well, I missed that. Citygroup mines its own Bitcoin called "Citycoin"? Premined digital currency for banks? Smells like Ripple.

http://techcrunch.com/2015/07/07/citibank-is-working-on-its-own-digital-currency-citicoin/

that would be the same as keeping all your money in the bank.. we should let all the central banks make their own money see how that works out .
