It is only a small step for Microsoft to allow portion of accounts to be held in bitcoin ... and then to allow withdrawls or spends of bitcoin to non-MS addresses ... suddenly your microsoft account starts to look a lot like your coinbase account ... but with a massively larger installed userbase and trusted brand identity behind it ... and Microsoft is head-to-head in a digital payments war with old foe Apple's Applepay

Upon reading this, it occurs to me that youth in the west might be a more likely adopter than third world right now. Lots of disposable income, access to technology and no access to bank accounts and credit cards.
This occurs to you now? Bitcoin has always been tilted toward the privileged, the wealthy, the computer literates. That's the reason it's so successful.

All this unbanked fantasy is just from hipsters, the "feel good" social justice warrior types, same as this "currency" nonsense.
True, BTC China did a poll in late 2013 and 90% of their user base had a college degree.

Billions of poor uneducated people in China but they are the minority trading Bitcoin.

You're never too old to think young.
Good morning Bitcoinland.

I see that the modest price increase from last night's Microsoft news is still holding (for now) and we're continuing sideways.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Welp time to shovel some snow. I dont think the microsoft acceptance has really rolled through the collective mind just yet.

the microsoft acceptance is no different from the paypal acceptance.
I think we will see some rise then a big dump, no different from last time

Very correct!
Microsoft recently add one more way to accept USD from bitpay company, however many fake news about "it is accepting bitcoin" came out and some of us buy this troll,

The bitcoin price is going to crash even harder after this "delay" caused by fake news same as PayPal made their announcement, you know what happened about the price crash

Microsoft does not accept bitcoin
Microsoft does not hold any bitcoins you pay to bitpay company
Crash incoming!

not sure that it matters if they hoard bitcoins.

i still dont get it why paypall, WU, credit card et al refuse to implement bitcoin Huh all they need to buy is just few coin (maybe less than 100btc, because they will just use it internally) and use it as vehicle to move the fund securely.

That's 'coz you don't understand how things work & the nature of security problems associated with money transfer.

enlightend me pls...

I'll do better:  I'll teach you to think!  Shall we try?  OK:

Ask yourself:  What security problems will be solved by using Bitcoin internally.  Take your time.

Also Microsoft only accepts payment in USA.

I guess we have more chance to see BTC rises if we see they accepting in others parts of the world, because I think USA BTC market is kind of already saturated and news like the Microsoft one won't spark more acceptance.
It might actually encourage Sony to jump onboard.  Sony is horrible with network security and Bitcoin could just help encourage purchases instead of holding credit cards info.

At this point, I would expect the others to start accepting.  NewEgg and others felt like small dominoes leaning down, applying pressure, but Microsoft is a BIG FUCKING DOMINO could really get mass acceptance moving.

Looks like the Microsoft news erased the drop from the fake China release on Dec 9.

Actually, BTC is still trading slightly lower than just 2 days ago.

Somedays I wonder if its worth it to continue to watch this thread. Its seems I'm pressing the ignore button on newly minted troll accounts more than anything these days.

Then I think that's the goal of the troll accounts, to drive people away, and prevent any meaningful conversations from occurring.

Then I think I should get back to work.

This Microsoft news is good, one more place to spend your coins is not a bad thing. Like Richy_T said, its all infrastructure being built.

Futures feeling bullish
They peaked 386

I'm surprised we haven't had a nice rise. BUT, the way futures work, the price right now is dangerous. Those who took futures contracts at 386 are in deep s--- right now. We drop another 20 or 30 points and those contracts are going to go south, quickly. I don't think people understand how futures work.

I don't know... Microsoft accepting Bitcoin surely adds heavily to it's legacy long term but I'm not sure it adds any wonders to Bitcoin price except short term pump, just like all others didn't. Until average Joe gets some significant advantage of using Bitcoin to purchase things and could buy it fast and cheap nothing really changes. We need new money in the game and that won't be people buying coins to spend them on Xbox stuff.

This is true but there also needs to be an underlying structure. Why buy/accept/care about Bitcoins when you can't spend them anywhere? If the "killer app" for getting $ to flow into Bitcoins come along, if there is nowhere to spend them, it will likely fail. Groundwork is important.
