Note the unconventional cAPITALIZATION!
Speculation inherently runs the risk of being wrong.  That's no excuse not to participate.  Stop beating around the bush and make a price prediction, Stolfi.

A couple of months ago I tried issuing a daily ~20h prediction based on a hunch that I though might work (the "Chinese Slumber Method").  But in the end it was not significantly better than the trivial method "tomorrow the price will be the same as today".

So my prediction for  tomorrow at this hour on Bitstamp is 621.18 USD.   Also for next year on this day, too.  Wink

I will lay 10:1 against your prediction for Jul 16, 2015.  Will bet up to 1 Bitcoin.

and all this talk about manipulation when someone is dumping in 500 batches while everyone else is expecting a bubble is...manipulative.

 Cheesy

I really don't know if everybody is still expecting a bubble... Many have written the bubble off, but maybe not enough people for the bubble to actually begin - remember, a bubble only happens when a lot of people don't expect it to occur anymore!

those who have written the bubble off are selling.

if they take the upper hand, this jump could easily end up as merely a bounce from a local floor.

On the other hand, they'd immediately join the train when it really starts and when it is obvious that it isn't just a short rally but another full-blown bubble. Those are the things that really get a bubble going!

Certainly as good as any prediction I've seen on this board...and actually better than most!

everywhere I look people are sayin it won't happen for months.

Yeah well, basically no one knows jack... Everyone is just speculating - like you and me - and drawing colorful patterns on logarithmic charts. I, myself, believe we're still on track for any potential bubble to come. But hey, maybe we need another big dip or won't even see a bubble this year. No one knows!

but I have my doubt that the seller will simply stop or go away.

bitcoinity just did the odd thing on my machine where the depth graph on the ask side remains flat for a rather big period before showing some action. I was pretty puzzled but reloaded fast enough before starting to ponder about who is possibly manipulating the market at the moment Tongue

In my thinking your comments are misleading b/c you are projecting the future, as if BTC prices are going to be on a continuous downward projection from December 2013 and thereafter.
Please point out the comma in those posts that you think can be interpreted as a hint of an insinuation of some innuendo about the future...

I stated several times, and repeat again: I do not see how one could make any fundamented prediction about the price of bitcoin, even in the short term.  I would not hazard making any.  It may go to 6'000$ next week, or it may go down to 6$.

All one can say is that,  if this or that event were to happen, then the price could go signifcantly up or down.  But none of the events that we can think of is sufficiently certain to happen, and other events may happen that would have the opposite effect.

Sorry -- why are you mentioning soccer? Was there a soccer championship somewhere recently?  And what is Germany?

there's clearly buying volume every time it drops.

Exactly. Yesterday I watched as about 800-1K BTC fill in the buy side (after the 500 BTC dump yesterday) , I wake up to see almost that exact amount of coins being dumped on the market (1K) this morning, totally wiping out all the coins that filled in the book for the day.

Sell wall on Stamp is pretty thin right now, we should be able to easily get back to around $625 with only a few people buying...
