Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"
Has anyone bothered to measure the world record for consecutive Chartbuddy postings?

I doubt that we could all agree to refrain from posting long enough to create a 24 hour chart buddy series.

How would someone with euros in a Cyprus bank use bitcoin to move the money to a bank outside Cyprus?

Simple, all you had to do was find someone in Cyprus with bitcoins who was willing to swap them for Cypriot bank credit. Euro IOUs were still exchangeable between Cypriot banks during the capital controls period.
That does not seem to violate capital controls...

Note that no euros, real or virtual, left Cyprus; they aonly moved between Cypriot bank accounts.  Meanwhile, some bitcoins that were out there somewhere in the ether and were owned by one Cypriot became owned by another Cypriot.  The total wealth of the Cypriots, whether measured in euros, bitcoins, or material goods, was not changed by that operation.

Or am I missing something?

Now, implementing "savings & loan" businesses in the bitcoin world is extremely hard, because it contradicts (or at least seems to contradict) the trust-free and potentially privacy-preserving nature of bitcoin. After all: you need some kind of pressure for the borrower to pay back. There have been many attempts to solve this, but most attempts got drowned in scams.

Maybe hoarding is enough of a signal (less buying) to regulate economic activity? I'm not sure.

This is largely because the whole idea of investing has been distorted. That is, to give someone else control of your assets in order that they hopefully might be able to do more with it than you can (what you call hoarding is perfectly valid to do also BTW). Implicit in this is that they might end up doing something with it that is disadvantageous to you. In fiat-land, when things go wrong (if you're the right kind of person) the government fires up the presses, robs a bunch of people of their wealth and hands it over to you for your dumb-ass decision.

If you want something like FDIC (which is likely to collapse itself in any real crisis) in Bitcoin-land, you'll have to buy some insurance. We're a ways from having a company you can trust with that though (and since there are a limited number of bitcoins, you could still end up up the creek). Welcome to the real world.

Buy and sell bitcoins,
Do the folks at BTC-e know something that Bitstamp doesn't? There is now a $10 difference in price with BTC-e dropping.

Some times the folks over there decide to go off on their own. Often dumps lower for no reason.

BTC-E also has a very thin order book. A 100 BTC dump can go much further there. And also, people make the mistake of having tight stops on MT4 -- which, due to liquidity, get triggered on otherwise low volume moves. BFX has same problem, but not as bad.

Huge rally happening now on bitstmap!

I would like to trade on bitstmap....  I've never heard of this exchange. Are there low fees?

lol.... the only thing huge about the current "rally" is that it might actually be breaching the bear triangle... other than that it is very very small indeed.

You never heard of bitstamp?  When I first heard of btc (some guy lost a harddrive) I googled bitcoin and I think bitstamp was the first thing I clicked on (to get the price).

As far as bitstamp, enter it into the search box.  There are some reviews.

He was being sarcastic... Smiley

How can you tell.  It looks like the same to me from stamp and bitcoinwisdom.  Can you share some sites?

It's the power of positive thinking. If you wish hard enough, it will happen.  Smiley

Sine secretum non libertas
Speaking of privacy enhanced coins, did you join the Monero train the other week, I'm sure it was you who mentioned it and I had a look. Bought a few thousand at 0.0003 and just sold a chunk at the top of a pump to 0.005 on Polinex moments ago.

Insane growth. Made up for the last 6 months of BTC prices and lack of volatility.

Yes, I am enjoying that.  Keep in mind the MRO market cap is still less than 3000 BTC.  It should surpass DRK fairly quickly, since it is so clearly superior.
