Bitcoin is antisemitic
More poor people to put their life savings and kids college funds to BTC, so we could convert it to USD and buy more "castles" and lambos with it. Yeah, nothing better then to rob the poor with some good ol' deception. That's quite clever!

P.S. we should keep this under wraps though, with bitcoin trying to market itself with slogans of freedom and equality. We should try to act like we aren't a bounce of scoundrels, who enjoying rpietila's stupidity, because it lures in more unfortunate targets.

Take it easy: rpietila has been giving some quality analyses for free and no one can be right all the time on the future. If he's made loads of money trading coins it just add to his credibility. And the moral advantage of btc is that you can sell them just once and just if you really own them. Any haters is free to stay with fiat.

Why else would you use an avatar on an anonymous forum on the internets, of you wearing a business suit, if it is not for the sole purpose of luring in those who actually think that people in suits are generally right?

I think that I'm starting to get it..
So, he's like a character from some mexican soap opera, because it lures in poor people who actually fall for this act? It starts to make sense now. Well it might be the exact same strategy as selling some useless penny stocks to idiots, except that Bitcoin is actually useful, with strong fundamentals, and does not need castles and lambo pictures to succeed.
My point being: if Bitcoin is bound to become a major medium of exchange anyway then Rpietilla weird temper and promoting techniques can't hurt its growth and will make some random dudes rich in the process by giving them the proper incentive at the right moment. Good for them.
The major point being the long term success of Bitcoin. Ofc if you think it's a scam/ponzi/fad there's nothing more to say.

To me, promoting castles, lambos and any other bad-taste nouveau-riche ridiculous trophy is just another way of promoting Bitcoin to the average Joe. Reminds me of the last Scorsese movie. It's inelegant I guess, but it works on many people. If Bitcoin is truly the technological and economical revolution we expect it to be, then it will make everyone richer, especially the early adopters including those convinced by a picture of Rpietila smoking cigars. If it's the proper incentive for them, then they will surely be glad in a couple of years that there was someone to produce it. Maybe it's a strategy, or maybe it's just bragging, whatever. It's useful. Also, he made intredasting TAs.

Quote
What have you learned from it?

That scenario thinking and probabilities are very hard to understand for many people, even in threads dedicated to it. Further education is necessary, but any serious and accountable predictions by anyone should be taken here, with a consistent and uniform methodology, and cash prizes (all entry fees go to the pot + my 1,000mBTC bounty and perhaps windjc's also..)

You're missing the point. The risk of dropping below $435 was much higher to many of us than it was to you. Your estimation was off. Those of us who thought the risk was higher than you thought it was had good reason to think so. You may have had good reason to think it would never go that low again, but it did go that low again

Your prediction was wrong. Why? Why did you fuck up? Why did you blow it? simply because the future is unknowable? Do you think we are just lucky idiots?

It's ok to get a call wrong. We all do. That's when we learn. Have you identified a way for your forecasting ability to be improved? Show some fucking humility, Man. You're bleeding credibility when you do shit like that. Quit defending yourself. It just makes you look worse.

People who might otherwise want to invest in Bitcoin will be reluctant to do so if they think it's going to enrich people of low moral character. If that was Jorge's point all along then I finally get it. You and I were smart for seeing early on the value of Bitcoin, but trading day trading is getting more sophisticated, more complicated and more difficult every day.  This community needs elder statesmen and you should be filling that roll instead of making reckless predictions and ego-driven bet proposals.

Quoted for, well, truth.

But I get the impression this is the wrong thread for that sort of commentary. Risto tells the permabulls what they want to hear, so they're willing to ignore the obvious character flaws.

Snake oil for everyone, baby!

I have an idea in my mind but am not sure yet. Thinking about sending my last bit of cash to stamp because I have a feeling we will see that 340 again soon and then it will shoot up to 500 again Smiley

Shorting Bitcoin, risky business.

He's temporarily going long USD, he isn't shorting.

I bought coins @780 and 680 so I cant short them. But I can buy some @300-400 and short them @500 to reduce my loss. Thats the plan Smiley
Good plan if you have the patience.

Me too.  A nouveau riche d00d can't handle wealth and ends up in a nuthouse.

Anyways back on topic-ish...

Seems we are destined to meander around this price point until another China deadline. Bidsum has reduced 25% in the last couple of days and no real impotus from buyers to raise the price, all action is as you never would have guessed. Following China.

EDIT: Which means probably a mini rally coming up.
