Let the fundamentals do the work. not me. I dont really mind if 400 is crossed. What Im really interested in is what's going to happen later in the year.

Gentlemen, let me spell it out for you: If you market buy into this fool's rally, I will take your money. I didn't put my life savings into the riskiest investment in the world three years ago to have a bunch of johnny-come-latelys hop on the gravy train at the last minute and ride for free. Put in lower bids, help me defend the $400 wall and earn the right to be bitcoiners. You'll save money, and I won't have to dump the coins I bought for $10 on your heads.

Why defend a 400$ wall and become a Bitcoiner? Why would you even give a shit about so called fellow bitcoiners, you were smart enough to buy in at 10$, made a killer profit, that you just have to lock in. Imo sell your stash  buy a new house/car/whatever and enjoy an early pension.

Whenever i think this thread can't get any more retarded it does. The fact that so many people using large amounts of money to buy/sell bitcoins that don't understand the concept of EV is mind-blowing.

Explain the bare essence then.

By EV, I expect you mean expected value?

I see various forms of dollar cost averaging going on with various expectations that Bitcoin will acquire some additional value based on taking market share from remittances, store of value, currencies and hedging against irresponsible monetary policies.  There are other motivations and theories as well, including various forms of speculation on price direction based on charts and lines.

Any special perspective or insight you can drop upon us cave dwellers?

It could also be exposed value. The fact that so many people using seldom used, unexplained abbreviations in this thread, is mind-blowing.

Yeah.... I really do NOT mind constructive criticisms or pointing out potential flawed logic, b/c maybe we could learn from that.  However, bare mudslinging... seems to have NO real purpose - except to maybe just to make the poster feel good for a short time.

Also, even throwing out a term, such as exposed value, may need to be explained in a context by use of an example.  exposed value would likely have something to do with risk taking - but investors vary a lot in this regard NOT only in their risk aversion but their knowledge or even desire to recognize risk.  I'm sure mine differs from yours for example.. but if we talked over our decision-making and preferences, we would likely be more informed thereafter about how to proceed with our future risk allocation(s).

I didn't say earlier, but I understand your desire to learn daytrading by doing.

Like the next person to dump or pump will care. Seriously, these lines mean shit. You just draw them where they fit.

Lines are NOT used for forecasting the market. nor is TA. It's all risk management. It does have real significance in identifying where large orders are likely to be, and where they are moving. four points of exact coincidence is not shit.

wedges are of real significance in the market. they represent consolidation and come after volatility.... so no I dont know if the next person will pump or dump, but when liquidity is zero, and the price range is contracting, I can see the next large player enter the market and act accordingly. I dont use the lines myself, but they are useful for illustration.

Or even Enterprise Value (stocks and shares term for valuing a company in preference to simple market cap)

That said - I don't see how any of these apply to BTC value....

Well, these lines represent what the last persons to dump and pump cared.
Of course, it's just an indication of what happened in the past, they don't have much prediction capability.

I honestly don't know why people still try to draw those lines...
If somebody has enough free time to do it , go back 1 year and look at all the lines people have played with on different charts.

I'm almost willing to bet that nobody managed to get the dec-mar period right.

In the end 1BTC=1BTC and that won't change for a while Smiley

positive test of wedge.

That 465 upper limit seems to be bitstamp-specific to me and non significant.
To me the wedge is located @ 460 and we already broke it

I agree with that. but 465.00 has stood for days now. I would be pleased to see that break before the lower trendline.

...

PS. The point of the plot is to show the AVERAGE gain/loss PER YEAR over the last N days, rather than the accumulated gain/loss factor.

Which, in an extremely volatile market like Bitcoin trading, is an abso-fucking-lutely pointless metric.
