Happy Thanksgiving fellow Canucks.

Did the turkey dinner thing with family yesterday. Doing it again tonight with the regulars at one of our local bars.

That should do us for turkey until at least Xmas.

The real reason for thanksgiving isn't turkey though. It's for giving thanks.

If government can print as many currency notes as they want then why am I charged with Tax???

I forget where I grabbed this image but it was probably here at BCT.

It's an age-old question.

'The right to privacy matters'
If government can print as many currency notes as they want then why am I charged with Tax???
First of all theyre not your friends, youre just a useful idiot in their system and they know youre not able to defend yourself against forced taxation. They simply tax you because they can, why would they voluntarily say no to trillions/ billions every year? Its a simple power dynamic, they have the bigger guns.

Second of all, even if there was no taxation - prices for most goods will adjust to the disposable income of the population. Your piece of the pie would most likely stay at a similar level(cant afford more things), as there isnt magically more things being produced and more houses/ land in existence. Money distributes available resources. Also, inflation is considered a hidden tax, so even printing all government spending comes with a tax again.

Third of all, look at historic occurences of hyperinflation in the last century. After this it was completely frowned upon for central banks to finance government spendings again. It never ends well to give a group of powerful idiots access to a printer.

In a healthy monetary system people would be able to save money again and see their wealth rise over time, i dont think we would have these conversations if people could afford better living standards again and become more independent from dumbass policies and government handouts.

The right question would be, why are we allowing these idiots to print as much as they want again?

Well
taxes fees tolls tariffs been around a long long time.

At least as far back as Rome in Christ's time.

What's the Line

"Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's"  source wiki and they used Matthew 22:21

Governments and printing paper are not the issue.

The lack of space and privacy mean Governments can use fear to tax and manipulate us.

If someone figures out how to setup an endless multiverse filled resources but no people I wonder how well governments would do.

Just step into that multiverse and tell this place fuck off.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

I guess he still had some cornz (if we could have classified cornz held with 3rd parties as actual cornz) left?  even after getting beaten and robbed?

By the way, 800 BTC is quite a large stash - even by early bird OG bitcoiner standards... One thing might be acquiring and/or accumulating that quantity of cornz in the sub $100 price time-frames which could have been 2013 or maybe even easier to accomplish prior to 2013 when frequently sub $10 cornz could be acquired.

Those were all before my time in bitcoin.. and the lowest that I ever purchased any cornz was for $180-ish in around January 2015, and that was only a small amount on the dip since I was also running out of money at that time, too.

So one thing would be accumulating a decently large quantity of coin, yet another thing would be to be able to hang onto that quantity of coins for many years, if we were to assume that the guy might have been in bitcoin since 2013 or even earlier.

Maybe it could be helpful to go through a little bit of a hypothetical to suggest that this guy would not have ONLY had 800 coins, but maybe he would  have had well over 1,000 coins at the bare minimum.. maybe even something in the ballpark of 1,500 coins would be more realistic as our bare minimum amount... and maybe he still has some coin.. I cannot imagine that a person with so many coins would either put them all with Celsius and/or to get robbed with the remaining portion of his stash..

So if we speculate by presuming a certain number of coins spent through attempts to protect one's stash from volatility (100+ BTC) and then some coins used for consumption (100+ BTC) and then some coins lost by robbery (300+ BTC) and some coins that he still might have (200+ coins) and the 800 Celsius coins..   For sure, I am speculating and there are maybe some better and more reasonable (and maybe even some categories that I had left out?), but based on the very little information that I have (I did not read the newsweek article, yet.. I did not see a link.. and I am a lazy fuck, sometimes) I have a hard time imagining a starting BTC stash of less than 1,500 coins.

There are no easy ways to become world champion. Sometimes you need to shove an uninflated coke bottle up your ass and translate the morse code of times you cum into you pants into viable chess moves. The man had a dream of becoming the best chess player. Who can blame him?

All a bunch of shite and unnecessary loss of life.

That's what every single war is.

We obviously have not yet evolved to the point where we no longer greed for the property/land/subordination of other humans.

According to Hobbes this is the state of nature - the war of all against all. He also said (freely translated from my German version) that humankind is the only form of life who takes an immense pleasure from watching other creatures having less (comfort, resources, riches etc.). For us humans it's never about having more than enough, it's about having more than others - no matter how plentiful it is already what you have. While this virtue made humankind fly to the moon (before others) it too is and will be what finally will get us all (or most of us) purged from that blue marble.

War is the normal for humans, it is only interrupted by short periods of peace. We were just a relatively lucky generation (until now).

Right now I do not so much think about where the next bull run peaks, I am more concerned if I/we will still be here to enjoy that peak as things escalate so quickly all around currently and there are enough players at the table taking profit from that situation which makes further escalations very likely.

The ones who do not die in wars get to live on and carry the torch of human evolution. Hopefully we survive until then as a species. But the chances are extremely low. But with every day that humans do not wipe each other out, the chances get a little higher, day by day.

That only works if the rotten apples let their life and the fine people survive. I fear the rotten apples are the ones sending the fine people to war, letting them starve, freeze etc. Also the longer it goes on, the more humans we get and the easier it will become to lit up that giant powder keg called humanity.

Kinda glass half-full / half-empty point of view I guess. Obviously my glass is half-empty. But that doesn't make me a pessimist, I am simply drinking too much too quickly Grin

I on the other hand am a realist.

Wars might be a phenomenon of natural evolution. Its an old relic of natural law. Improving the attribute of self-preservation on a genetic basis is what is keeping us from becoming extinct as a species.

Bad news from Portugal:

Brutte notizie dal Portogallo:

Portugal to start taxing crypto gains in next year’s budget plan

Quote
Portugal to Start Taxing Crypto Gains in Next Year’s Budget Plan
Government to tax gains on crypto held for less than one year
Portugal is one of Europe’s most crypto-friendly nations

As we speak about crypto hodled for less than a year, this means the legislation should be quite similar to Germany’s.

I was going to send you an smerit for informing us.. but then I saw the profound basic errors of your ways that negated any smerit sending justification.. so my sending finger would just not move...

which largely means: Fuck crypto

I must say... even though you are a veteran who should know much moar better than that.. haven't you not learned nuttin over the years?... It is like a negative learning, no?  Peeps get worse rather than better with the passage of time.. they get corrupted by the ideas that are floating in the space out there. and then they start to believe:  "well 'everybody else' does it, so it must be ok.. blah blah blah."

Bullshit!!!!...

I will tell you something Crazy_Bitcoin.

Even though you cited the source for those words that you used in your post, you would be much more clear if you included some kind of quote to show that none of those words are your own..

So in some sense you are ONLY doing the bare minimum to NOT get into trouble because you are at least providing the source of the words.

If you were to add some of your own words too.. and to differentiate your words from the words of the citation, then you may well even earn a merit here and there... .. but yeah, it is a bit irritating that members don't seem to have any of their own ideas... to even say if they agree or disagree and why .. and many times, I suppose, we presume that any cited post would be cited because the member posting it is either in agreement  or disagreement with it, but we cannot always know which is which unless the member says.. even senior members are GUILTY of the same kinds of laziness...

It's not just a newbie merit-hunter members who are guilty of lack of individual contribution/analysis/assessment beyond merely just citing an interesting idea or an interesting meme/picture (quoting it in full without commentary).

I heard about this story and just had to shake my head in stunned amazement.

Never mind the fun times of sticking vibrating things up your butt; let us not touch upon that.

I'm more interested in learning how to actually parse data from internal rectal vibrations.

Do they use morse code? Some other coded sequence of vibrations?

The mind simply boggles at the extremes some people go to cheat.

At competitive chess.

With specialized vibrating butt-plugs.

Retarded space rock...

they provide the full soure code for this hot device. yes, they use morse code.

Quote
WPM = 15  #                Morse code words-per-minute
DOT_LENGTH = 1.2 / WPM  #         Duration of one Morse dot
DASH_LENGTH = DOT_LENGTH * 3.0  # Duration of one Morse dash

# Morse code symbol-to-mark conversion dictionary. This contains the
# standard A-Z and 0-9, and extra symbols "+" and "=" sometimes used
# in chess. If other symbols are needed for this or other games, they
# can be added to the end of the list.
