Ah, so unexpected. The sheep on Stamp are starting to poop their pants. Because panic selling on Stamp is the smartest thing to do if Gox goes down, right?

What is stopping Mtgox from buying up all the cheap coins personally and dumping it on Bitstamp?

I know how people on this fora feel about MP but he has some serious accusations about Gox:

If Gox reaches a low enough level, Mark can buy up all the bitcoins on the exchange just with all the money he has made on exchange fees. After that dumping it on any exchange for 3-4X profit looks easy.

What is really bizarre in all this is that holders of GoxBTC can currently exchange them for realBTC at 0.78 at bitconbuilder.com, yet they are selling them at < .5 of stamp price. They could sell their goxbtc for realbtc, sell those on a reliable exchange, and get more $ than selling one gox, and not have to worry about insolbvency or waiting months for withdrawals.

[Bitcoin] may work better with "permission" from government, banks, but it doesn't need permission.

That was the common belief before China showed how easily it can be done.
I do not see how the blockchain could be maintained if the US government decided to stop Bitcoin.

A government can ban Bitcoin but that doesn't mean it stops. This honey badger doesn't need your permission.

I used Google when it was still a student's project based at Stanford; I did not consider it a "risk" then, but now I see it as a huge risk for all mankind.  Smiley

I see why you say your students ignore you. Perhaps they too see a dinosaur braying at a meteor shower.

Now would be a good time to shut/cool down the servers @ Gox, just like in April and leave the rest of the market alone for 2 days with a price of 270$.

what the fuck @ mtgox price!

I'm seriously *this* close to wire money there. The only thing keeping me from doing it is that I can't bring myself to support that incompetent piece of .... in any way.

I don't get it. It's not that unlikely for magicaltux to return the coins, is it?

What's the going rate for 1 mtgoxBTC in blockchainlBTC?

It does not make much sense because they are trading GoxBTC for GoxUSD, and magicaltux is way more likely to return BTC than USD. There is of course the explanation of market manipulation.

Anybody just see what happened on gox about 5 mins ago? For about 10 seconds there were about 1k coins to 100.  Then the book was rapidly rebuilt. Shenanigans.
