Shocked

The immediate trend is strongly UP. On daily basis we are way oversold. I expect an advance to 666 area in the following hours/days. After that, the downtrend resumes and visiting the long-term trendline at about 450 is a strong possibility.

I've had three friends pull their money out and walk away from bit coin over the past few days.

Well done market makers / manipulators!

Really?   They didn't know going in that this happens?   I am very careful to explain the risks and how these things work to my friends.   Not one is less interested now than they were, which is to say most are quite sorry they didn't buy when I told them they should  Tongue

Did your friends lose money?

He lost about 3-4K $... oh well

There was a lady who bought at $1000 posting on this forum who had to take out a loan on their house to buy her first BTC. Kept talking about her dad investing 3000 BTC and trying to convince her to make her first buy. I wonder what happened to her.  Embarrassed

I'm still here Smiley. Still reading... Still 'hodling'. I paid $1080 for each of my 11.1 bitcoins and have not sold - I rationalise this like so: bitcoin is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it right? And I refuse to sell them for less, which means they are still worth at least $1080 . Ergo, I have lost no money Wink. How's that for a comforting delusion?

That's not delusion, an unrealized loss is not a loss. I wish I had that strength-- if you continue your patience, you will be rewarded like so many else who have held. Hopefully, it's not rent money, and you don't need to touch it for several months or a year. Smiley

That's a great way of putting it. I'm definitely going to use that when one of my anti-Bitcoin friends throws the dropped price in my face -- "An unrealized loss is not a loss."

No, it's not rent money Smiley. I tried to abide by the old adage; "Only invest what you can afford to lose." I see that one has been thrown around this forum a lot actually. Easier said than done though I suppose!

The chart only tells about market depth/orders.
I am totally naive about financial analysis, but my basic statistics tools are unable to find any correlation between changes in price and the price's past history.

To be specific, they tell me that the closing price for the next 1-minute period is the last closing price plus a random variable with nearly zero mean.  This variable has no simple (linear) relation with the earlier 1-minute closing prices.  Knowing the last 5 closing prices is as useful as knowing just the last one.

sorry I am pretty new here. Does this chart say that the price will go up?

Thanks

The chart only tells about market depth/orders. Price at 666.666 which is a crazy coincidence. Regarding price, it is likely to go down (not based on chart)

Mad props for even finding my post. Money is on loan against the house right? Need to calculate loan interest and compare it to BTC EV - Tough call. Good luck to you!!! Smiley

Thanks! I did do some calculations before buying the coins - the repayments on the house are so much anyway that a withdrawal of $12k hardly makes a difference (isn't that depressing).

Never really taken a risk like this before, but what the hell right? Besides, after reading about Bitcoin (my research at work took a backseat - oops) it's become a bit of an obsession... I only picked up on your post because I read this damn thread every day and have the bitcoinwisdom tab open all day to monitor the price. It's almost (almost!) worth paying $12k just to be a part of this ride..... well maybe not that much Smiley.

This is the the multiday trading range & slide into the crash before the actual crash, like last week.

Maybe, we'll see.

What we really need is Bobby Lee to announce he is closing down his exchange and then we can have our final capitulation and be done with it. I'm so tired of China.

I can tell you as arbing being done.... China's market will be less and less relevant. Doesnt have to wait for the exchange to be closed down

Thats it.... i'm fcking BUYING.

Watch out because we're going up from now. Whales are all dead, a fish like me is bigger than a dead whale.

You saw something that made you want to buy? I saw a less than 200 bitcoin market sell at around $610-$615 spiral into a substantial chain reaction down to $550.  How did I see this? I did the 200 market sell.

There are hidden walls on Bitstamp.

And the fact that everyone participate for a weekend dip.... it would be a buying frenzy for a race of uptrend. I dont need to call bottom. I'm slowly accumulating coins now.

Hidden walls? Lol. No, there is Bitfinex which does not show up on the Bitstamp api. I am watching from inside Bitfinex so I see all the orders.

You need to learn a little more.

So Bitstamp offers hidden walls to large orders and bitfinex does too.  but how are you able to see all the orders on bitfinex?

I am pretty sure hidden orders are done off api. The buy and sell side are both hidden. You don't place a public buy offer and have a hidden sell order fill it.

I'm trading on Gox btw
But i do watch all exchanges.

Any predictions on the bottom for this weekend/holiday period?

I'm buying for the first time since February.

Never try to catch bottom. With bitcoin, buying at anytime and holding long term (months) will never lose.

Trying to catch bottom or call top.... however can result in huge lost.
