Funny to see how quickly that tough guy, libertarian talk goes out the window once the feds actually show up. Thank God Ripple is on the way to save Bitcoin from ruin. And just in time too. Somehow I told ya so, just doesn't quite say it.
A centralized way of funding? Isn't that the very problem we are talking about though?

Department of Homeland Security has nothing to do with a civil lawsuit from coinlab. This is about money laundering/terrorism financing/child porn/drug trafficking..
Call me alarmist but, once the big players and Vc's read the charges against gox, realizing that the largest btc exchanger which hold all their millions, is now in jeopardy with a US govt agency,i'll let you imagine the continuing slipping of price in the coming days/hours as this bad news is fully digested..

Well, to be fair, we have no idea what's actually going on. It could very well be a legitimate government action.
That said, yeah, if I wasn't bound by birth and family, I wouldn't move here either. I'm not old enough to know how it was in the halcyon days of postwar America, but post 9/11, our government seems too big and too powerful. Most of us are so busy catching up on Survivor that we just aren't paying attention.

No telling, but it's not the first time DHS has shot first and asked questions later.
Perhaps they were alerted by suspicious transaction reports filed by Gox's U.S. banks or banks wiring to them in Japan. Gox has said that the amount of money flowing into the exchange has increased dramatically, and those kinds of changes to funds flow are certainly a red flag for bureaucrats.
That makes sense. However, for a court order DHS would need some strong evidence of illegal activity. The transfer of funds out of the country is by no means illegal, and neither is investing in bitcoin. I would bet this is related to an investigation into money laundering and/or MT Gox not operating in accordance with US laws.
Uh, bro I hate to break it to you, DHS doesn't care about laws, they pretty much do what they want.

The MtGox queue is also over now, the said they are caught up.
So now everyone can cash out, instead of being trapped in MtGox. Great.
Account verification is also required to transfer money to Gox via SEPA.
If DHS is after Gox, they can sieze any incoming wires to the USA from them. Having Gox wire me money would be the LAST thing I'd do right now until we know more.
Buy BTC, move it to your wallet. Then move it whereever you want to cash out.
