They are not immune, but that's better than being directly on US soil.

Yes, but think about what would happen if tomorrow Gox, the largest exchange, no longer allowed trading to all Canadian/US clients. It would pretty much be what happened to online poker after UIGEA, at least until someone sets up a legitimate, trustworthy exchange and establishes it as the new #1. Thus, it's a non-trivial lawsuit imo.

They're not immune just because they're in Japan. Various interlocutories and especially Judgment in favour of the Plaintiff could easily result in Gox having to suspend trading privileges to US/Canadian clients.
The "good" part of the news is that a) lawsuits are very slow; and b) the more hopeless Gox's side of the case is the more likely they are to settle before shit gets real.
There's very little evidence this is an actual lawsuit. The timing is highly suspect (at the close of day just before a long weekend in Japan), the suit doesn't appear in the database in the jurisdiction where it was filed, there's no court seal on the document itself and there's no indication on the CoinLab site (which would obviously be there if the matter has already gone public).
Anyone can draw up an official-looking statement of claim and "leak" it.
EDIT: on another thread, it appears the suit has popped up on the database after all. That would mean the statement of claim, at least, is legit.

Well whats fun about this nonsense is that I'm getting BTC-E money now. Its like $10 above gox. Not only do I get arbitrage monies, but I also get $$ in BTC-E which is worth more than $$$ in gox.

BTC-E is not over gox since crash started, they're usually around 2$ up. And it's always like that in crash times. That's the reason why btc-e codes are available on exchange sites at the moment. If there is a difference, it would be very hard to find them.

we could really use a label on the vertical axis, richy. so we can see, you know, how much those walls are worth.
although, now that i think about it, i have no idea whatsoever how you'd actually display that in any useful way, given the whole "3d" thing... hmm.

Few large ask walls left. Big coin dump coming or they are throwing in the towel. Should be moving back up soon. Nice time to buy.

sorry for the noob post but i dont understand how MtGox getting a lawsuit is GOOD news? could that be the reason for the mini crash today? To me it seems like a really bad deal for MtGox to hand over all US and CND customers. something seems fishy about this.

MtGox giving their usa/cnd clients to coinlab seems like a real bad deal for MtGox. No wonder they kept dragging their feet, that's an awful idea.
