Also will be looking to set up a low-key private wireless ISP service for the area (will at least have a single Starlink satellite system, in addition to whatever runs we decide to have the local telcos make)

Take a look at unify / ubiquity products. ui.com

I have their UAP-AC-Lite as my own separate wireless access point at home.

You will still want to install hard wire cables on your property, at least CAT6 ethernet (good enough for gigabit speeds or faster).

How about some solar there-would provide a trickle (or a flood) of corn that would pay for the upkeep? js
I am not into farms myself, but sounds like an exciting venture.

Have already discussed devoting an entire acre to a solar array. Plans to dig our own well system. Set up a few huge-ass industrial size wind-farm propellors in the cattle pasture...

The idea is to be 100% self sufficient on the property, and actually pump excess energy back out to the local grid.

Hoping the agent gives us some sort of indication on the state of negotiations any time now. Low-balled 'em, and Rick is concerned they were offended with my initial offer. Dude worries too much "OK. So they get offended. I offer more money. What is the big deal ?"

Dude is such a diva. Needs to learn to relax. Trying to wrap up hand-off of his work to other teams before he announces his resignation in February, so he's kinda stressed out more than usual lately. Bleh.

You're never too old to think young.
Good morning Bitcoinland.

Still sideways in the $3xxxx range, although we lost the little bit we gained yesterday... currently $31507USD/$40042CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

Boring. Time for more coffee.

The thing that used to annoy me most about conventional corporate wage-slavery was the 9-5 hours, specifically the 9 part. We all know that some people are morning people, some are night owls. I'm definitely the latter.  No less productive, just more productive in the evening than mornings.  Yet employers insist that everyone starts at 09.00. There was hardly any point me starting work at that time, I had no ability to focus until at least 12.00.  And just when my focus was starting to really come together at 17.30, it was time to go home. Ridiculous working system reflecting a bygone era

And why is it always seen as a virtue to be a morning person, yet it's assumed that night owls just sit around watching TV or playing video games late into the night?

Amen. That was one of the many reasons I dropped out of the rat race back in 1976.

Here's a piece of doggerel I wrote around that time. It was to be part of a planned collection of humorous verses called "Poor Jimbo's Almanac", sub-titled "Mornings are for Sleeping".
_____

Early awake and early abed,
I'm sure you remember what Ben Franklin said,
But may I suggest that there's nothing to gain
In advice from a man who flies kites in the rain.

The lion, they say, is the king of the beasts
And a lion sleeps days on end after he feasts.
For as a wave's trough is as deep as its crest,
Then surely one's waking's as deep as one's rest.

The longer you slumber, the deeper you sleep
So it follows your thoughts will be equally deep.
So if you're up late and a chronic late riser,
You may not get rich but you'll surely be wiser.

somebody of you Brotards have a look at the Bitcoin Options which expire on Friday?   Cool

Option expiries seldom have a direct impact on the spot price. However, when open interest is concentrated in out-of-the-money (OTM) call and put options, which is the case with bitcoin, a sudden pre-expiry move forces market makers to hedge with the underlying asset. That leads to more significant price turbulence.

Over 80% of the Deribit-based Jan. 29 expiry open interest is set to expire out-of-the-money, or worthless. Notably, more than 52,600 call option contracts and 29,800 put option contracts are currently OTM, as noted by Swiss-based data provider Laevitas.

what does it mean for the spot price?

we are fucked? I don't know. But if it's like the impact of a long or short future and the call-part is overwelming more, than there are maybe sell contract through? But are these anyway backed by btc. where did they get the money if they have not btc. Or did they buy it? I am confused. Is here some expert, who can explain these?

in short: volatility will tend to increase later in the week. and then:

Hey, maybe it would be B. Gates...you never know...he bought half of US farmland according to reports...well, maybe not half, but a lot.

this, basically. i always had enough hobbies and interests to never be bored working or not. and you may find areas of interest that you never would of though of once you dont need to keep someone elses schedule. once your time is truly yours and not someone elses you might be surprised where your wanderings take you. i havent worked for years and never have had more fun and new interests. its vastly more satisfying to invest your time into your projects rather than try to fit your lifestyle around some corporations daily schedule.

And busy-ness - why is that seen as a virtue? There seems to be an underlying assumption that the busier a person is, the more virtuous they are. Why is so little value attached to making time to do nothing, to think, to slow down and to ponder the big questions?

I always wondered about the whole 9 to 5 thing. I always figured it was just a song from the 70s before people started working 8 hour days. Every place I worked had an hour for lunch which meant 8 to 5. Though, my first job they allowed 10 to 7 because we had a cool boss and we were a bunch of computer nerds.

My favorite job ever was working in Afghanistan on night shift from 6PM to 6AM. My ideal life would be to live my life at night while the rest of the world sleeps.

BTC + Crossfit, living life.
Good morning. Appears a bottom is trying to stabilize near $31k-$31.5k. If we drop lower, I'm loading more powder onto the exchange to scoop more dip.

Thanks to the farming and other enterprising folk for reaching out to me. Not going to break OpSec at this time, but may figure out some way of doing so, via proxy of some sort, in the distant future. Gotta purchase the property first. Agents are working out the deal. Actually asked our agent to proactively seek out the availability status of an extra ParcelID of land right next to us, essentially allowing us to start boxing out an entire portion of the entire tract of land, should people north or south of us start selling.

Thank you, Bitcorn, for being so good to us.

Onward. Upward. No limp wrists allowed.

Next target, $50k !

Happy for you my MAN, enjoy and live life at its best on that ranch!

Well played sir, well deserved

I think the problem is, that I want to buy property in the near future, becuase we found 1 or 2 nice candidates. But to be honest... Maybe I should wait longer and dismiss the candidates, hopefully this bull run is not over yet and I got better properties at the end of this year for less Bitcoin XD

Anyway thank you, this answers to my unpatient price ranting are helpful Smiley

I was thinking it might of been something like that. I'm in the same boat, but, I'm not cashing in enough for a house until my price targets are hit. If the right place pops up I am just going to get the biggest loan I can get.

Ah I calculate also with a loan, that's the only chance you get a loan for maybe 0,5% (10 years) and don't touch bitcoins at all. (pay half in btc and pay half with a loan ... something like that!) and let them be for 10 years Cheesy You never get a loan this high to invest in bitcoins Cheesy muhahaha. But the property is the chance for that.

Never selling
And again, all the gains from yesterday are gone... again... Dispite bullish news from yesterday... So waiting again for the final break out or again prices to buy the fucking dip.. again...

Really, would be nice if we leave finally this stupid 31k and never came back down ...

It may suck, but you can't expect the price to go up to hundreds of thousands without corrections.

Bitcoin rewards the hodler.

Yes, I know. But sucks to see all the gain lost again. How many "cvorrection" do we need? I know it'S a long running game. But I sucks any way ... And buy the dip doesn'T help, when you have to wait for you paycheck ...

In the last cycle we had serveral corrections and they sometimes went for months. Don't be surprised if we mimic that.

I know ... Smiley I am not surprised, but most "corrections" went + 30% then -27%, which is a net win of 3% (for example) ... do that 20 times and we are on a good way. I only want to express my "meh" and release the stress Cheesy

Would be nice, if we went sideways on the 35k level for a while Cheesy not this stupid 30k/31k ... to nearby at the 2xk levels Cheesy this stresses. A middle 3xk would be more calming Cheesy

I don't know how much fiat you have invested and when, but I don't feel stressed at all when I see that the value of my Bitcoin stash is now 14.7 times the value of the fiat I used to buy it. My "loss" threshold is very low, around $1800. Any price above that leads to a profit for me. I guess that's the benefit of being a (somewhat) early adopter. Still, no one likes the price to fall, since profit does not necessarily lead to "fuck you" rich status, and many of us still need to wait for a while until we reach that level. My guess is that this will happen quite soon for some of us, even as early as this year, or the next at the latest. Others (is it Octopussies?) may need to wait a bit longer, but it's still doable. Just HoDL.

Fact: Bitcoin has a tendency to move from the hands of the impatient, to those of the patient. (was it Warren Buffett that said something like this?)
Proof: mindrust.

Of course the MSM has been dead silent about this. Gotta push those expensive vaccines.

The vaccines cost a few dollars per shot.

This is a false (fraudulent?) economy. There are many downsides to vaccines and those costs are externalised ... in fact big pharma makes sure of that by getting governments to sign water-tight liability waivers. dyodd.

There are many downsides to getting fucking COVID, too.

... those costs are on the Chinese Commie Lab that leaked it out ... if you're counting.
