Feels like BTC is getting ready to climb the wall of FUD fear. Positive seasonality and a nice wedge give it a good chance to hit $50k by March. Let's see... I remain, as ever, #irresponsiblylong

The Concierge of Crypto
Case in point, if you hypothetically froze the codebase of every cryptocurrency in existence today and said there would be no more updates to them, ever.

Bitcoin:
The existing codebase has so much almost perfect set of attributes/functionality/security/value as deflationary money and settlement that, frozen in its existing form, could still one day become a world reserve currency. It's that good, even as-is. The devs would never have to touch another line of code and still it shows the amazing value it gives you today and into the future. If no other crypto existed but Bitcoin, the world of the future would be fine. Better than fine, actually.

Not quite, there are a few lines of code that needs attention relating to how time is stored on chain. Something to do with unsigned integer limits (year 2038 problem + 68 more years), but something we don't need to worry about for maybe 85 years.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Block_timestamp
Quote
Bitcoin uses an unsigned integer for the timestamp, so the year 2038 problem is delayed for another 68 years.

Depending on the solution that is agreed upon, will extend this problem either another 300k years, 292 million years or 300+ billion years; in any case it won't be a problem. The upgrade to this can take place over the next 10 years. Its essentially upgrading from 32 bits to 64 bits for the time variable and we'll probably go with what the rest of the world will do before 2038.

Nice photo, OutOfMemory!

Maybe we could introduce "daily snaps" and post our favorite photos of landscapes, nature, birds (or the flying and the other kind), etc.

But there are OPSEC issues, so I guess it can't happen...

So, come on, Bitcoin, give use a PUMP for SWANS! White or brown, I don't care. Green would be nice, and they'd better be pointing upwards.

Here's some spam pic of a swan from today's walk to the lake, to sweeten up the sideways range bound (aka. boring) price action:

Manual focus because of autofocus malfunction due to coldness. So not perfect sharpness on the spot, but good enough for this shot.

EDIT: Time for a pump, isn't it?

Looks like a goose to me.. but what do I know about one bird versus another bird?

Swans are beautiful in every colour.

Swans turn white when mature. They are brown at birth and while juvenile.
There's even a child story "The ugly ducking", you may know, but it's of German origin, so maybe not  Wink

Lovely picture of a majestic animal. A lot of detail in the wings and hand focus turned out decent. Wouldn’t mind a daily shot in the WO thread.

Key metrics show this week’s $4B Bitcoin options expiry favors bulls

when I read this kind of news I remember my country's mechanics... In my country if the person has a damaged car and ask the mechanic to fix it and he can fix it and you ask him: when can I do the next car overhaul ? if he responds with optimism: 'you can stay with the car for many months, something like 6 months ". then prepare yourself because within 1 month your car will stop due to mechanical problems.

Speaking of Covid, here's a clinical trial using a cocktail of low cost, readily available therapies (MATH+) given to various stage hospitalized Covid-19 patients.

https://covid19criticalcare.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/MATH-plus-Rationale-Journal-of-Intensive-Care-Medicine-Dec2020.pdf

Just look at the result outcomes on page 14.

Quote
"The  average  hospital  mortality  at these  2  centers  in  over  300  patients  treated  is  5.1%, which represents more than a 75% absolute risk reduction in mortality compared to the average published hospital mortality of 22.9% among COVID-19 patients."

There is two options:

Option 1, catch some sun
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/vitamin-d-rollout-following-82-reduction-in-covid-19-deaths-in-spain-5311897

Option 2, vaccine

Best reserved for last. Do not have sex for a whole year after taking covid vaccine.

The vaccines aren't expensive. Once you're in a Western hospital you're already costing thousands so if there was an efficient treatment it would be used, price is secondary.

If this course of treatment is really useful then it will be used.

The vaccines aren't probably expensive themselves (though I've heard some hefty prices being called per shot - also it should be noted that customers are not allowed to discuss pricing), but development in shortest time has been. Politics owes these companies now.
And politics always said the solution to this problem is a vaccine, how can they change their opinion now suddenly?

I've read a similar article recently in a local (quite reputable) newspaper (but can't dig up the source, sorry tried hard).
Basically a doc treating Covid patients said some combo of older drugs can even be sent to the sick by post with an oxygen meter so the patient can basically treat himself according to a simple manual (if blood oxygen goes below this, take this for this long etc.). They used this combination in hospital successfully but nobody wants to approve those drugs for use against Covid.
I smell certainly the stink of competing interests. Ask yourself, who should pay for the approval if the drugs in question are dirt cheap?

Billions have been invested in these vaccines, it would be shame to have them go to waste only because some cheap old drug combinations are effective.

I for one won't be getting this shot in the near future, I'll rather stay hunkered down for one or two years more and watch how things develop. But I am very thankful for those trying Contergan, Pandemrix, Covid vaccine.
