I don't think I've seen Rick before. Was he the one holding the avatar of Pickle Rick on his hat?  Undecided

Rick has never posted here.

He has threatened to create an account several times.

Maybe when he retires, finally Smiley

I've always thought, that if I retired, I'd probably need to maintain at least double my salary coming in just to pay for all the things I'd need to do to stop me getting bored out of my mind.
That being the case, I'm not going to retire anytime soon, even if MoonTM.

my retirement goal required three times what i figured was the "normal" amount i needed. took longer but i do like huge safety margins.

and boredom? i have never been bored in my entire life. i have far too many interests and hobbies. i love learning and trying new things (and have the scars and broken bones to attest to that).

ive never understand how someone can get bored.

yeah have to agree with you on bolded part of the quote.

Well yeah,
He has a signature to uphold for a gambling site.
Just because he is getting ostracized on the WO thread doesn't mean he can't use the rest of what it has to offer.
I would post the "Never go full..." Robert Downey Jr. in el noir face to follow up on this but I am not that cruel. Wink

Also congrats to Bob & Rick.
From what I remember being in this thread for not so long (almost 1.5 years now) I don't think I've seen Rick before. Was he the one holding the avatar of Pickle Rick on his hat?  Undecided

please do. will it be a "sod off" announcement and split immediately or will he give the traditional two weeks notice (or whatever).

It's going to take Rick at least a couple months to transition away cleanly.

Presently looks like he's targeting end of February for retirement, to coincide with a final round of stock vesting.

It'll be done completely above board and professionally.

Congrats to you both! Achievement unlocked! Even if Bitcoin price will keep surging... you bought TIME which is another (even more) scarce thing.

Now enjoy life with Rick, and also the exciting Bitcoin journey with your remaining stash in the years to come.

Cheers!

note pulled info from here

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.55488187

as I noted in an earlier post
 { https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.55491561 }

the  best streak of above 12,584

was from 2017-12-06 to 2018-01-15  that was 41 days

so 23 down and 18 to go.

This will be a really nice streak to break.

If we stay hot we break the streak on Dec. 2, 2020

so 2020-12-02 here we come.

We also are developing a second streak Nov 1 on is above 13545

we have never had a full month from day one stay above 13000. I for one want to see both things happen.

and we are unfolding a third streak more on that later."

I am quoting and altering my post from yesterday.

I want to talk about the third streak that is opening up.  BTC never had 12 days in a row over 15000

Below is the longest 15k+ streak

2017-12-21  16,033
2017-12-20  16,724
2017-12-19  17,986
2017-12-18  18,634
2017-12-17  19,110
2017-12-16  18,430
2017-12-15  17,334
2017-12-14  16,351
2017-12-13  16,434
2017-12-12  16,854
2017-12-11  16,293.    11 days in a row.

note I get all my stats from the following thread.  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1472141

I have been using his data to show these streaks.

So we have 3 streaks going

1) 12854 +. is at 23 days and closing in on the 41 day streak from dec 2017 to jan 2018

2) we have a 7 day 15000+ streak closing in on the 11 day streak from dec 11 2017  to dec 21 2017

3) and our Nov 1 to Nov 12 streak above 13000 is the second longest streak from the beginning of the month above 13000. Jan 1 2018 to Jan 15 2018 is in first place.

update so far so good  as we are now over 16,200

I will get back to this at night.  We need to keep this up!

Right, which you have ample time for and so will cost you far more than if you spent most of your time working.

I also wouldn't get bored, if I had things to do. Just those things generally cost money.

Rick is officially planning his exit/retirement tonight Smiley

Please let us know the form of Rick’s retirement announcement.

please do. will it be a "sod off" announcement and split immediately or will he give the traditional two weeks notice (or whatever). personally i gave a few weeks just to ensure a smooth transition to my replacement but not that management cared, they are work to rule (whatever its called). they can fire anyone for no reason and people can quit with no notice. im old school though so did the notice.

I've posted about this before, about "FUCK YOU!" slides in PowerPoint presentations, etc., but I'd never really do it IRL. It's just not me. I'd rarely say FUCK YOU to anyone (in real life or online). Not necessary. I would not drop to their level. If someone deserves to receive such words, I'd let my actions do the talking. As you say, I'd give a few weeks notice, so that the department can prepare and adjust. I'd also offer to help for a while, in case they need something that only I know how to do. Even training my successor, if necessary (with pay, on my terms).

I'd do a big party on my last day at work, all costs on me. The good guys will be happy for me, the haters will end up self-suffering because of their own hatred and envy. It's the universe's way of balancing things...

bitcoin allowed me to retire years early. its  a good ride. stress, working for slave wages, having little say in your life and schedule. all take a major toil.

congrats to you and rick. enjoy!

Thankfully bitcoin also allowed me to retire several years ago. However, after a few years of enjoying escape from wage slavery, I think it's important to have plenty of things to occupy one's mind.  I guess it depends on your background, but if you've been used to having to exercise your mind intellectually for many years, then filling your time with less intellectual activites during retirement can be a little disorienting.

Initially, I travelled a lot, learned some new manual skills mainly out of interest, bought some land and a family home in a rural location. However, over time I did begin to miss intellectual challenges, so I did a little more study and wrote two books, one of which was published last year (I would never have had the time whilst working). Now I even confess to missing some of the attractions of urban life, but not quite enough to return on a permanant basis.

I suppose I found that a reduced level of mental challenge was not fully countered by the perceived idylls of rural life, space, time and money. There remains a need to be mentally stimulated to some degree, and that degree will obviously vary for each individual. I'm also in a different age group to most retirees and so perhaps I still have a greater degree of cognitive and physical ability to consider.

One thing I discovered, however - helping friends and family has proven to be far more rewarding than helping myself. Back to the Golden Rule again, perhaps.

This is just my own take and obviously the old saying "horses for courses" applies.

But best of luck to you Bob and Rick!

No, it's not me in the video, but I fully agree.

Edit: also I have better teeth. Henrik looks very British in the mouth, very unswedish

I feel obliged to come to the defence of English teeth, which tend to be in generally good condition. However, I was shocked to see the state of teeth in Scotland and Ireland during visits - appalling. Unfortunately, they give the entire British Isles an undeserved reputation for poor teeth, when it is in fact the Celtic nations which deserve the reputation. Perhaps Celts have a genetic disposition towards poor teeth? The Scottish diet is also horrific, so perhaps another correlation. Athough, the numbers of those with particuarly crooked teeth (which can be easily fixed at adolescence) in Scotland suggests it might be down to parental and societal apathy....

Meanwhile, bitcoin chews and gnashes its way upwards.

 Grin (nice teeth)
