Now that's some news here:

The EU recently encouraged its officials/staff to use end-to-end encrypted messaging software for communication while on the other hand the EU and Europol tries to force services offering said encryption to implement backdoors for challenging "child abuse".

https://ec.europa.eu/home-affairs/sites/homeaffairs/files/what-we-do/policies/european-agenda-security/20200724_com-2020-607-commission-communication_en.pdf

Those fucking fucks!
At the same time blaming the US, China and Russia for spying on their citizens.
AFAIK the EU is (was?) a FREEdom project.
I'm more than angry right now, what an unusual feeling  Angry Angry Angry Angry

Don't tell me it's the first time you discovered this. A freedom project? You're kidding. Around here, we tend to speak about the "EUSSR".

Note the unconventional cAPITALIZATION!

most of all the pieces are in place..just waiting on that gut wrenching volume to manifest

Yeah the volume is really the one underwhelming thing, particularly considering the growing fee market.

We are going to need to have the "influencers" really on point when it comes to fees when we DO start to get that volume.  Because it's coming.  On a level that has made all the last runs look like... well like the way THEY made the previous ones look.

My first post in the thread was easy to find (on page 4560 of this thread) - just go to my first post, ever on Feb 17, 2014).  I hardly posted outside of this thread for my first couple of years as a forum member.  I deviated more later down the road.

.....

Fun fact...
My 1st post on this forum back in 2014 was to enquire where the fuck is the miner I ordered 6 months ago?(Not those words. I was actually very polite)
The irony being I never got the miner.  (in hindsight, no surprise )They gave me a scammy ass one year cloud mining contract instead. (they turned out to be scammers, what else is new?)
But here's the kicker...it ended up  making me a very tidy profit in the year it paid out. (they sent me a payout every day for a year, unbelievable but true. I actually saved the payouts as a screenshot jpg)
I still hold those bitcoin proceeds to this day.

Sometimes I truly believe the stories I can tell in my 7 years in crypto will be more priceless than my bitcoin (my dogecoin scam mining story is hilarious but that's another day, another thread)

Not saying that newbies cannot become elite club members, with the passage of time.

The best time to become an elite club member was a bit more than 7 years ago...

The second best time to become an elite club member was any time between a bit more than 7 years ago and today.

The third best time to take steps to become an elite club member is today.

@windjc

i read through all the technical fundamentals as you proposed and i came to the conclusion that this chart might be the future of Bitcoin.
It´s actually from the hidden page of Satoshis white paper written with magic ink, many have not seen it before.
You should take a look at it:

LOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOOL

Most importantly, Where are we currently at on that chart?   the beginning, middle or end?  Maybe we are still in the early stages of the awareness stage?  Lots of people do NOT know what the fuck is bitcoin.

[edited out]
On my BiL, i have to say that i would have re-bought the amount of bitcoin i would have given him instantly, so i'd have lost only a few Sats for good.
But when the right time has come, i'll happily lend a fraction of my corn to some relatives Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Whenever you spend and replace your BTC, you have the various fees and potential tax implications.  You also have to possibly have to suck up or make up the extra 10% that you were planning to give him.

I am not arguing that it might not be worth it, to incur various burdens or costs in order to spread the good bitcoin word or to give breaks to newbies entering into the BTC space, but sometimes, it may not be worth the whole burden and costs when the potential BTC newbie is not receptive to the idea, and likely going to fuck something up...

Sure, it does not hurt to make these kinds of efforts with various people and even to repeat the efforts from time to time, even while recognizing that we, longer term HODLers, are likely bearing some burden to undeserving folks, and only marginal likelihood of actually inspiring a BTC newbie to enter into the space without fucking too much stuff up.

I mention BTC to random peeps from time to time, and I am also willing to help or to teach, up to a certain point.  They need to be interested, too... and sure, I understand that some newbies do come into BTC from time to time based on these kinds of familial introductions.

10K!
Congrats dude! You've got it right! Again  Grin

I know that you are just joking.. but still.. oh gawd.. oh gawd ... oh gawd...  Roll Eyes

I am NOT complaining about UP, but the vast majority of us should realize that if someone here keeps proclaiming up, sooner or later s/he is going to be shown to be correct (is that a guru?)... same is true with the opposite...    Tongue

Note the unconventional cAPITALIZATION!
We have broken the current most aggressive version of this line since the ATH on every time frame so far:

Now we just want to close on all of them above that line!  Maybe a little harder to do?

I mean seriously... we don't even have to break 10k anymore for this 2.6 year line to get pierced.  What do you think is gonna happen?

This is the perfect storm.  Gold about to breech 2k.

Bitcoin being talked about by herd leaders as "digital gold".

Right after the halving.

Exchanges stock running low.

Hashrate ATH in.

More dollars being printed than toilet paper.

What do you think is gonna happen?

Theres a great documentary done on him years back, he tried to collect any copies from VHS but its out there.  33 years ago, this might be it  Just shows he got to be a billionaire from trading, he has been trading forex for decades so its a big deal.

I'd also say as a trader he'll buy it up in June and sell it July, not sure he is saying its his favourite market any longer then a trade takes him to gain from it.

But just ahead of this summer, with markets in turmoil amid the spread of the coronavirus, bitcoin received an unexpected anointing from one of the world’s top hedge fund managers. On May 7 billionaire Paul Tudor Jones of New York–based Tudor Investment Corp. issued a market outlook letter that swiftly went viral across Wall Street.

I'm celebrating 3 years of membership on these boards today - happy birthday to me yeey. Cool

As promised, I started reading at the beginning (of the new WO, don't get me started from the old one please), and needed a break after 22 pages of reading already. So how much time would the complete WO take me? Damn...

(...)

There will be no challenge: I just realized 78 pages were added to this thread in only 25 days, so no, I'm not starting from scratch. Roll Eyes

Basically, reading through these WO pages feels a bit like being a participant in the game show Card Sharks: some guy posts a chart, and then the others start screaming "higher" or "lower".

Great fun tho.

I wish I'd been there from the very beginning of the forum. It's quite astonishing how visiting these boards as a non-member eventually evolved into daily visits, actively participating, spam-reporting etc... I'm not gonna cry but this forum has actually become part of my life. That sounds creepy dammit. Grin

The forum was much different in the early days. People actually all working toward wanting to make Bitcoin successful. Everyone pitching in with ideas and supporting people that were starting businesses and advances for the technology. The major debate was about the depreciation aspect of the currency (from outsiders that did not support Bitcoin).
The final answer being..."so you're saying that if I own bitcoin the price will continue to go up. If you truly believe that, why are you not buying bitcoin right now?"

Another controversy was SatoshiDice and the flood of transactions on the blockchain for a single gambling website.
