Alert on fraudulent emails claiming to be from the MTGOX Team
We have received reports from some rehabilitation creditors that they have received an email claiming to be from the MTGOX Team that, in summary, contains the information below. However, this email is a fraudulent email impersonating the MTGOX team (the “Fraudulent Email”). The Fraudulent Email was not sent by the Rehabilitation Trustee, and the information in the Fraudulent Email is completely false. Accordingly, please disregard the instructions and requests in the Fraudulent Email.
・The Rehabilitation Trustee has brought forward the deadline for repayment from October 31, 2024, to March 29, 2023.
・MTGOX is now proceeding with allowing all creditors to withdraw their remaining balances fully.
・Following court approval, withdrawals of the balances will be processed to a Web3 wallet connected by the customer and distributed through the Ethereum network. For efficiency, claims for each account will be consolidated into a single transaction.
・You are asked to click a “Begin Now” button displayed in the Fraudulent Email to visit a “uniquely generated withdrawal” (i.e., dedicated) page to connect your wallet securely and verify your identity.
If you receive a Fraudulent Email, please do not click the “Begin Now” button or any links in it and delete it immediately. For accurate information on the civil rehabilitation proceedings of MTGOX, please log into the MTGOX Online Rehabilitation Claim Filing System (the system that can be accessed via the URL “ https://claims.mtgox.com/ ”; the “System”).
Imagine getting scammed after getting robbed by trusting MtGox again, lol.
