I think the most important to remember is that some addictions do not leave you even if you try. You can do your best and actually stop gambling for YEARS before it comes back. That is why I have always cashed my deposits and so forth and always have a connected account with my wife which requires her approval whenever I send money anywhere, I haven't gambled big or even mediocre for years now and never gambled away more than 1 dollar per wager for years now but I keep the 2fa at her phone in case I go back in too much.

She doesn't really care anymore and I am sure if I get back to gambling I can manage to do it while hiding it from her but its at least not as easy as it could be. That is why the psychological help from a professional is a must in case of too much addiction, you can't beat it yourself that easily, you need help.

Quitting is easy if you want to achieve something, but never easy if you want to stop doing what you always do and what you always wanted to do. This is what you called addiction, and we all know that its really hard to over come. Is this the end? Is there any cure? Let me help you.

1.) if you really want to quit, you should WANT it. You should be serious about it and not play around. Most people failed to change because they didnt take quitting seriously.

2.) Have a stone hard mindset. Picture yourself to the person you want to be. The old person who doesnt need that things in order to be happy. Always think about the future results you will become.

3.) Be faithful on what you are doing. Cheating is not an option. Dont be fooled on peer pressure or the callings of slot machine. Learn how to have self dicipline. Focus on your goal and have a blindfold if needed.

4.) If you already strengthen your inner self, the next steps is already easy for you. You see, yourself is the best enemy you have and we should start changing you by the way you think. Next is, have other things to do that can make you busy. Start trading or having new business. You will soon realize that the essense of the money you lost in gambling.

5.) never to try it again. People are also malleable in nature and even you didnt do it for years, once you tasted it again, you will turn back to the same addict person you want to get rid of. We have a deep caravings for it psychologically or what you called cravings by our subconscious minds that once triggered, can never be stopped.

Lastly, give me merits if this tips help you. Nah. Just kidding. I just want to write a book someday and i need some inspiration. Gambling is fun though.
These points are indeed supposed to be applied with strong and sincere intentions for those who really want to leave gambling or whatever I feel. I have done this step for a long time and the results have been successful, but when it comes back to the scope we constantly face, we will gradually begin to try again and some of them will come back to gamble again, but when rethinking effort we before, then they will be more able to control themselves in the game that makes them strong not to pursue losses.

Everything is easy when you are just reading it, even if you want it, the application is still the challenge in everyone. Even if it's serious, the temptation of the wanting to do it again makes it really hard. It's also based on my experience knowing a person that is an addict to something I don't want to discuss. I know it's not that easy and it's not okay to joke about.

If you have made a book, made sure you share it here in BTCT or somewhere. lol

I have the best tip for anyone that wants to quit-start something new in their lives even if this is related to gambling. I got this advice from an old man in the street (God know why he stopped and told me that!)

If you want to start something new, put it in your everyday routine for 5-10 minutes in the beginning and then make it 10-20 minutes. This way it will be part of your daily schedule without even knowing it.

Just think of how many actions you do every day, you didn't do before but slowly and steadily they become part of your routine.
It has application to gambling as well. Think of it!

More desire you want to stop gambling then you will more deep for your addictions and to stopped from addicted things is not an easy task even it's almost impossible to quit from it without other people help and for me besides all of OP mention above then we should not be shy to tell our addictions to others people especially to our family because our environment can be good medicine to heal from addictions
Sometimes its hard to do it alone, and some of the gamblers who lose big money ended up killing their own lives, so I think its really good if you seek some guidance with your family because its not easy to get out on that addiction, and of course you will feel the love and comfort that you need and it can really heal the wounds.

Oh, if person is gambling addicted, loses and loses, then how can we say "once you tasted it again, you will turn back to the same addict person you want to get rid of." If taste is bad (you lose and get bankrupt), then why do we still want to taste it always? That's a little bit questionable for me and something that I can't understand. One way we can think that once person tastes gambling (and if he loses from the first time), then more likely he will hate it

In fact, the taste is quite good

It is the aftertaste which is bad. Or do you think people would be smoking, drinking, using drugs, or whatever if it made them feel bad? They start feeling bad after the effect is gone, so they have to come back just to feel normal again as they get used and develop tolerance to what they are taking or doing. That's why it is called addiction. And no, they don't hate the object of their addiction, at least not as much as they hate themselves for being weak and unable to control their actions.

I was a game addict in my youth spending nights and days playing. Then I hated myself for wasting my time so uselessly and still continued playing. It took time till I completely lost interest in games. Now I can't play because I become instantly bored, and I don't have to control myself

I think main factor here is that you are a poor person or don't give a shit how much money you waste because you are rich and gamble for profit. I think there is a less risk for rich to become addicted but when you are poor and your overall knowledge (intellect) is on lower level, you think that you'll win much from that one dollar and so on, you always try to fill wished money by playing with the hope of win.

The risk is essentially the same as well as the consequences. It just takes a little longer

It's not that easy to stop a gambler's addiction because of how many ways to gamble online or offline. On this subreddit you can see users sharing their current situation.  Imo quitting is more of a need than a want since it can change a big part of your life for the better if you manage to stop yourself. Not all tips, solution, advice work for everyone it might be better to ask for someone's help if you can't stop it yourself.

It is true that if you get addicted it becomes difficult to quit the gambling as finally it involves money and people are greedy behind it . Thus this makes life more difficult to quit it as it has now being in your mind and soul and only people who have power to control their emotions could avoid this addiction .

I've learned about having a stone hard mindset in the past, and I see it's really difficult to do because we are always tempted for something especially if those things related to money. And when the gambling as the topic, then the tempting of getting money will always there, and it's difficult to prevent as we know that many gamblers still come back to the gambling games because they want to make money. Fortunately, I can solve my problem, and I can pass the tempting of playing gambling, so I don't play the games every day.

If you want to quit, you must find an alternative way to do something for you to forget gambling. Gambling can be very addictive specially when money involves. It feels better when you win a profit but not all the time it'll give you money. As long as you're hoping for a win, you can't stop your addiction in gambling because you wanna try and try until winning the game. Just have some time with your family and do something irrelevant to your addiction so you can quit forever.
If there's a will there's always a way, finding yourself and realign your true self before addictions comes over can be done by a person who really loves to quit, in most cases overcoming addictions starts inside yourself, finding alternatives of source of fun and trying to convert your attentions to other forms of enjoyment will work only if you are really willing to take everything in your hands.
Early stages of addiction can be over come by converting out concentration into something else but what happens when someone addicted to something seriously, they can't get out from it by loving some other thing een if they want also their mind will look for the same old thing so they need medical help with strong determination to quit it.

Overall, you have given good points to make someone leave off being an addict, an honesty from me.

However, there is something I want to know from you, have you ever been an addict? if then, do the points you have mentioned make you aware and not become an addicts?

I always remember what Mahatma Gandi did when advising someone, a mother and her child came to Gandi to give advice to her child, her child suffered illness and he was banned by doctors from eating salt, but the child never obeyed. When Gandi heard about this then he told them to go home and come back again after 2 weeks. And two weeks passed and they came back to Mahatma Gandi's house, then he asked for an appointment to advise his sick child, then Mahatma Gandi only said 'don't eat salt to the child' after that they were told to go home. The mother felt strange, because she could also say what Gandi had said, but after that her child never ate salt at all. Apparently, before Mahatma Gandi advised someone then she would change herself first, improve herself after improving others. Hopefully, this happens to you.

Each point is correct that one should quit if they really want to. Will power, discipline and other self restrains. Quitting isn't easy, do love the process and get your way out of it if you really wanted to quit.

And everything is going to fail

It is like with cancer, the chances of self healing are extremely small since if your body is capable of fighting it off, it won't develop it in the first place. This is the thing which truly addicted should understand and accept, that they can't quit on their own, by their own volition. I have seen many compulsive smokers (actually, a minor addiction) which swore that they could stop smoking any moment if they chose so, and they couldn't even if they were able to abstain from smoking for some time. Same story with compulsive gamblers - they won't stop until they lose all
Likely, base on my experience of trying to avoid massive bets when I was hyper active but later on I just learned from my experiences when I felt too bad when my pockets are dropping low.

There’s a resistance in some gambler to accept the fact that they are already addict and they need to change or else they will be broke later. Its not easy yes, but you can go with the process and of course you will not do it one time big time because you won’t success through that strategies. Btw, Its good to be writer so good luck OP.
Acceptance and moving on with accordance.

Determination is the most important thing if you want to quit gambling, the support from the family and friend also important, get a new hobby to fill your time so you don't think of gambling anymore, and if you already ever addicted, its better to stay away from it forever, because a small trigger may make you become addicted again, gambling is fun when you can control yourself

Quitting is not that easy to achieve especially if you are used to it but if you slowly making a process every day then that is progress and keep it up until you soon stop it. That is how it's going to be because we can't force ourselves to immediately quit on to something that we already used to. Any help from the others won't do anything because it is all up to unless you listen to what they were saying.
