🇺🇦 Glory to Ukraine!
this year , thanksgiving just passed, when I told about my experience with bitcoin but no one cared about my family, they still don't believe that bitcoin is different from ponzi
I hope that next year my family will understand what bitcoin is. so that next year's Thanksgiving , can be even more beautiful than this year

Generally, many people are skeptical about new things, and Bitcoin is no exception. While some people think Bitcoin is a way for criminals to conduct anonymous transactions for drugs or money laundering, others see it as a Ponzi scheme. Obviously, this is not true but there is little we can do other than try to explain to our skeptical friends and family members what cryptocurrencies are and what their potential is. In either case, the bottom line is that Bitcoin adoption is still relatively low compared to the popularity of other new technologies. However, the cryptocurrency does appear to be gaining momentum, and there is now a growing demand for education about the digital currency.

Every thanksgiving there’s often a topic or two that’s almost assuredly to pop up, and this year Bitcoin/NFTs and all things cryptocurrency were one of these topics. I know it came up at my Thanksgiving party, how about yours? What exactly was talked about? Just thought this would be a fun social experiment.

Nft were a big issue. Nobody could understand that sometimes a lot of money is paid for graphics or small symbols. Copying the inhslte was always an argument. But I said that one would also hang a Picasso in the living room, although there are also copies that are also well made. Here, the collecting instinct is addressed. You just want to have the original

Same was discussed here and people were confused as why to pay for the NFT when you can just download the original content free.
They don't realize that NFT are not the content, its the digital token associated with the NFT.

And that is exactly what is so exciting. This once again shows the advantages of technology. For example, artists can still secure their rights to their own work in a digital world. This is currently a topic that should not be underestimated. Copyright can actually be implemented well here

Thanks giving celebration isn't that big. Here in my country only few stores announce black friday sales and thanks giving celebration.

Last year thanks giving celebration wasn't that big, and those were days when people are convinced with the cryptocurrency usage. Now scenario has changed, and people are much aware of cryptocurrency. This has resulted on the major buy during the Black Friday and thanks giving celebration this time. Previously people who spent on clothes and other things have now spending on cryptocurrency.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences during your Thanksgiving get-togethers!  It was interesting reading the different replies, as I said this was sort of a social experiment of sorts.  At my Thanksgiving get-together bitcoin was of course brought up.  Then one of my uncles said "didn't some kid buy two pizza's for 10,000 bitcoin" ( I showed him the thread on here).  NFTs were also brought up a bit.  My cousin quipped "I think those are simply used for money laundering".

It's always interesting to hear what my family has to say about this stuff during the holidays..we shall see what it said during Christmas time Smiley

We don't celebrate thanksgiving over here, however whenever there's an event where the family gets together e.g Christmas, Birthdays etc, Bitcoin is always mentioned in some degree, whether that's a full blown conversation or little remarks here, and there. This doesn't extend to other altcoins or NFTs, mainly because when cryptocurrencies come up, its the family asking me the questions, and I don't really entertain the idea of NFTs or other altcoins currently.

Although, I usually quite like discussing things about Bitcoin, I've tended to only answer the questions, and not really engage any further than that these days. It just seems a lot of people I've talked Bitcoin to, seems to forget about it, and then ask the same questions over, and over. Including the favourite "Bitcoin is a bubble" remark.

NFTs were mentioned once.
The same on me. Not a thanksgiving but it's like a meeting of my newer friends that are opening the ideas that they're also liking NFTs. Well, the talk was all about positive insights about the NFT market and some talks about the dominance of bitcoin and I've told them that they should also hold it if they profit from any of their investment, they should get themselves some bitcoin and do DCA. Just gave them an idea that even the market goes on a huge correction, nothing to worry about if they're holding the good ones.

Yes, it sure was one of the topics that we discussed in our Thanksgiving celebration and that was because of me. My family knows that I am into Bitcoin and some kind of cryptocurrency Business and that has been my major source of income for some years now. So when we started talking about work and getting know how we all are coping with our jobs and stuffs like that, when it got to my turn they already knew that I was the only one doing cryptocurrency trading as a job, while others are just employees in some offices.

So, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies like Ethereum became a topic that we all focused on that day. We talked about which cryptocurrencies they should invest in, and the future of the cryptocurrency market etc. I’m quite happy that at the same and of the celebration, some of them were interested in buying Bitcoin.

No, so far there has been no talk of any cryptocurrency especially bitcoin in my family during the celebration. But I tried to convince my wife a few months ago to support my efforts to invest in crypto in these difficult time. I'm not yet interested in getting him involved in investing, he knows enough that this is something I'm interested in. I have set a target that I want to achieve in the next 3-5 years, it's not a big thing but of course it will be very useful for the future of my family.
if you already believe and are confident in your decision to invest in crypto, you certainly have strategies and targets to achieve. on thanksgiving day like today, of course there is Black Friday that gives more discounts. The decline in the price of bitcoin yesterday, of course, you should take advantage of to increase your bitcoin assets or more crypto assets.
Believe in the investment you make and spend money that you really don't need in the long run.

There was no serious discussion at my side on the thanks giving day. However, just on the joke side i asked my friends to give me gifts in the form of crypto but that wording was ignored.
Sadly, most of my near and dear ones have no interest in bitcoin as the say its overprices and hyped. I know they are wrong.

I've been away from my family for almost 3 years now. 'Been working since finished school and looking back when I started beeing involved in crypto craze, I was talking about it with my sister, just her. No one else. Most of the people I share about this were my collegues. No one understands it honestly.
Haven't had thanksgiving for quite some time now. Miss the good days.

As usual, we talk about bitcoin price, how it is behaving recently and what news and events could be influencing it. At the end of the discussion we always conclude it's better to keep holding, because that is exactly what the big figures of crypto and financial world in general don't want you to do. I also talk to my family about blockchain games and then they ask me about some games in particular they have seen on youtube, although most of these games are just ponzi schemes pretending to be real games. It's very important to talk to close people about crypto currency because you can help them avoiding being scammed.

Not a Thanksgiving party but that's an acquaintance party when we have had a batch reunion since high school and I have four close friends that do the same with me, making some profit in crypto and while others also once a member here before.  We usually talked about crypto and how's going on, but now since the pandemic was hit, we didn't have gatherings like a party celebration.

It's normal to talk about if you're both related to crypto, even those my friends outside who are also making a profit in trading, when we met outside, crypto was our first topic to talk about.

As usual is the thanksgiving day, and we don't have big celebration and all. Something interesting happened, it doesn't look big for someone. One of my friend kept adding thanksgiving tweets, buythedip tweets, about NFTs, virtual land projects, axie infinity to his Facebook stories. This was quite surprising to me, and at the end added "Technology for the future".

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving but in gatherings the topic of cryptocurrencies has come up
-snip
the same thing happens on our family gatherings. my dad would ask questions regarding bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies that he had heard on the internet. the sad thing is even though he asks questions and seems curious, he is still reluctant(scared to be honest) to invest any amount of money into bitcoin. at this point, I think he is just interested in what I am doing and what I am currently interested in.

NFTs were mentioned once. No talk of cryptocurrencies.
not surprising, they are quite popular these days that even celebs getting into it(i mean selling their NTF).

In my family ..almost everyone are into Crypto currencies..so the go to discussions are always about Bitcoin and what Alt coin is going to "Moon" soon.  Grin  Also, when people had a few drinks.. the discussions can become a little heated at times, because everyone seem to think they are the experts on the subject.  Roll Eyes

The older people seem to think it is all some "Ponzi scheme" and all of us are going to lose money, but they are quietly invested in some coin... with the help from their kids.  Cheesy
