So that's about 2 year ago right? I never heard people using bitcoin to watch cinema so i think they already abandoned that payment method simply because there's no one using it. If we want bitcoin to accepted by more merchants, we also have to use bitcoin to shop more often.

http://www.coindesk.com/movietickets-com-bitcoin-payments-900-movie-theaters/

Are you from the USA have you already heard of a cinema accepting bitcoins as payment. A post was made by Pete Rizzo at coindesk dated June 15, 2015 saying that Movie Tickets.com will bring bitcoin to over 900 US movie theaters all over the United States. I was glad to read such article but given the date I am not certain if they have already implemented it or the theaters in the USA are already started to accept bitcoins.

Your thoughts on this..

Intersting that Americans getting so much forward about the bitcoin. It is obvious thing as bitcoin is new generation currency as well as Americans are really straight forward with there business, thats one of the good quality that they have which makes them successful in new techs. Looks like lot of big organisations also have accepted these coins and started as payment option. This is a good advertising strategy also as they know many of them are into bitcoin now a days. I like that so much is going on with bitcoin it is getting populate day by day.

Bitcoin is not big enough to be dedicated payment method in cinemas. Don't get me wrong. I would very much like that idea and buy tickets with Bitcoin, but it's too early.
Who would buy cinema ticket with BTC? 1 in a 1000? That article about cinemas accepting bitcoin was linked to that movie Dope, but that movie was forgotten soon.

First things first, legalize bitcoin, make it legal payment tender - the way Japan did, and then we can add it as payment method in cinemas, and everywhere else.

On the one hand, spending bitcoins would encourage more businesses to accept bitcoin. On the other hand, you have the price of bitcoin hitting new all time highs. That 0.0016 bitcoin or whatever it is you spent watching a movie could be worth $10K+ in a few years. It's happened before - BTC10K pizza anyone?

On a side note, fnck Hollywood and all it's self-important fncktards who presume to tell others how to think. You can watch new releases in HD for free on the interwebs nowadays anyway.

If this is true, I would expect it to be in my country, it would be great because it shows that Bitcoin is getting more and more popular, the more service industries use Bitcoin. However, it also has many limitations. The biggest drawback is that as people have said, transaction speed and transaction fees will affect ticket purchases. If we buy tickets directly at the cinema then we will have to wait a while for the transaction to be completed. But I believe there is a way to fix it

Another step closer to bitcoin acceptance by the regular people. The more deals as such are being made, the better it will be for bitcoin and for the world as well. And after many such news we've seen in the past few months, I am quite hopeful for prosperous future of crypto currencies.
Is it real? Well if this is real im gonna wait for  the cinemas here in our country to accept bitcoin and will watch all the movies I wanna watch. I knew it bitcoin is really a working progress and even though it has some problems, it can do many things that people will surely be satisfy of.

Yeah but the problem would still be the same...
What about the fees?
A cinema ticket is about 7$. Any tx right now needs a 3$ to go through.
See the problem?

I don't know how BTC can be used to daily purchased but in my opinion it's just not meant to be :/

this is good step for bitcoin, if there are more people that know and use bitcoin it will spread to the world, i hope cinemas in my country can accept bitcoin too especially if can buy ticket online and no need to wait so long to buy ticket in cinema
That will happen if the government in your country accept bitcoin as a currency when it happen. Watching cinemas using bitcoin is not that impossible to happen. I believe that everything will start first if the government will allow and accept bitcoin as a money.
Your'e right. All changes should start from the government. If it will be allowed to buy and pay through bitcoin, then all good things for bitcoin will surely follow.

If that would be available in other countries as well, bitcoin usage would definitely have a boost as it is clearly a very good business. I work for a company that is in a lifestyle segment and our malls have cinemas scattered across the nation, and I hope the management would definitely look into crypto currencies as payment options, aside from the now trending entertainment reloadable card that is being accepted.
If the management where you are working right now accept bitcoin that is good because many bitcoin users will encourage to watch new movies. And if that happen it may also convince other country to accept bitcoin in cinemas

Back in 2015 this was big news, but things might have changed a bit since then. I know some merchants who started accepting Bitcoin has stopped, because there were not enough business to support for it. If we want services and merchants to continue supporting Bitcoin, we will have to use Bitcoin for their services.

Can anymore say if they still pay for movies with bitcoins?

Yes, it's true. Many merchants stopped used Bitcoin because it's not convenient for them, too little people pay using them and because of slow confirmation time.

I guess another problem is that most of us like anonimity and don't want that merchants know they use Bitcoin.

Even if the price reach 5k$ or above also until the transaction fees is not got lowered and fast confirmation is not made till then i dont think that no one will buy any thing for bitcoins as the transaction fees itself is high then the movie tickets you are going to purchase. So this idea is waste on the current scenario

Bitcoin cannot be used for micropayment because of tx fee issue. You will be paying more on fees than what you are purchasing. But this idea is not yet dead. If the scaling issues are resolved, the tx fee will be lowered and this idea can be pursued.

I agree with you, I think the resolution of the scaling issues will put Bitcoin in the right position to be used in a daily basis for micropayments like buying movie tickets, coffee etc.

Fees are still a problem that hinders the development of bitcoin, at high costs that are not common, and are not used in everyday transactions. However, fees will soon be fixed, which is essential, otherwise, bitcoin may be eliminated. I am waiting for segwit 2mb, it may be good measure to improve the situation.

Is this true? well I think it is really fun, I hope that our country will have like that so that it is not hard for us to watch movies.  Cheesy
Online or social media now are really powerful and we can make people believes in us even if we didn't really know the truth behind the story but one this is for sure, what you read from that article is really nice and really fun that you can enjoy if its really true.  Grin
