Waves is based on the Scorex framework. As written in this thread (
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/pre-ann-scorex-ultracompact-cryptocurrency-engine-for-hackers-1060567), "Scorex is intentionally not production-ready". Unlike some other coins which are often derived from Bitcoin, it is new source code, written from scratch. The Waves developers already improved it a lot, and all testing is good, but I think it will need some more months until it is ready for production. See the github issues list (
https://github.com/wavesplatform/Waves/issues), there are still 9 known open bugs, some are very critical, only 3 closed so far. And most probably even after the release there will be some bugs on the main net.
The good thing is that it is written in Scala, so infamous buffer-overflow bugs as possible in C/C++ are impossible with it, and the language allows to write much cleaner and more compact code, which means later new features can be implemented faster.
All this discussion over banning and even closing this thread, but this guy's post has my hairs up more than all the infighting. Twiggy, it is obvious that you are exasperated by the direction the thread is going, but could you address this post's claim that Waves is likely MONTHS away from release? That is the larger issue, I think.
Also, closing our open forum would likely panic a lot of Waves holders. One might think it a deliberate attempt to buy back your own coins cheap before the release...
I am completely calm, why should I worry? Because of the price? Or because of the delays? It is a strange reasons to worry right now. By the way, I do not have permission to close this thread.
This makes my balls tingle with excitement. people are coming to the thread, so many new faces being negative can only mean one thing!? Soon be on the moon ladies and gentleman, don't believe me then sell and move on.
Thank you for your prompt response, Twiggy, though it wasn't substantive in addressing the concern of months of fixes. I hope I am not one of the new faces being "negative." I believe in this project, hold 58k Waves, and am justifiably concerned about release dates and the price tanking. If team delivers bug-free nodes in September I'll be happy. If it takes them till October or November I will have lost faith in Waves team's transparency and objectivity.
