Getting Merit is becoming increasingly difficult, people are very greedy and do not want to share.  Tongue

What does it mean that people have become greedy? I looked at your profile. Are you from Russian locale? Why don't you look at the topics that the Russian meritsource Ratimov offers? There are some very interesting suggestions. Do not whine and do not complain that now it is difficult to achieve merit. You need to become useful for the forum. And then your reward will surely find you.

I have been saying this a lot, and for sure everyone too. It's about the quality of your posts and topics.

This is the only reason people should focus with. Impressive merits you receives from your post I think everyone who read your suggestion would definitely get inspired. Youre just upgraded from Full member last time I checked and now almost near the senior rank level. Congratulations to you, newbies should imitate the efforts youre doing to have merits.

I have been saying this a lot, and for sure everyone too. It's about the quality of your posts and topics. Ways of earning merits from the past year aren't different from 2020, it's still the same. If it's worthy of receiving merit, someone will give you. Most people here are kind when it comes to giving merit, you just have to make sure that you are deserving. But most of the users are looking for quality content, the one who gives information that can give additional knowledge here. Some are also looking at the attitude towards other users. So basically you just need to be you and give a contribution.

Very good explanation.
In my local Croatian board we have topic where users can report good quality posts which deserve merit.
As I see,  mostly posts which share some crypto news,  warn about scams or explain something receive merits from users.
For local members can be difficult to receive merits if they don't write in the English part of the forum so it's important to have more local merit source and I think theymos understand it.

To get merit in this forum you have to post with useful words. When anyone will be benefited from your post's then they will rewarded you with merit. Otherwise there are no new tricks to get merit in 2020. So try to make useful post ,merit will came to you without asking.

Yes, but there are still some kind-hearted individuals out there.

Just be yourself (i.e. helpful) and don't solely post for Merits, then they'll come naturally.

One of the most important ways to achieve Merit is to know how to make relevant comments. Posting that genuinely benefits others, or creating topics that many may benefit from. Everyone who posts consistently well is well-respected. Merit is not everything. Learning and teaching are the main purposes of the community. If you can do the work of teaching and giving it carefully, then you will get more merits from community users.

First thing is not to be a spammer. Yes. All or most of your topics should not be based on promotions. You can contribute to the forum by sharing your knowledge i.e making posts like tutorials, contributing to topics, exposing scams, merit abuse
Suggestions like this have been mentioned a lot in the previous post on the first page of this thread e.g.:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.53576567
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.53576588

It all depends on the user whether they want to change their habits or not.

Since the introduction of the merit system, a lot of time has passed. Tell me, what are the most effective ways to earn merit in 2020?
Stop what you are mostly doing that keeps you from getting any merit. Try doing something new would help you earn merits. 2020 or not does not mean the chance of getting merit change. It is entirely up to you whether you post creative reply or post to help those in need of help or not. Do some research to avoid asking a question that has been answered many times.

I just found out that earning merit is the most important factor in increasing your rank. Now looking at the posts of the forum, how some people earned so much credits/merit?

They did it by putting in a lot of efforts that you didn't. Earning merits is not as simple as it seems, you need to be highly productive in your content. And believe me, airdropped merits are worth shit to me and cannot be seen as something appreciated but rather more helped.

Quote
I am not here for long time, that's fair. But earning 1000 merit will mean at least 1000 posts that will be highly appreciated by others.

So based on your theory, I should have at least 2335 merits with me because my post count is 2335 (including this one), right?

Quote
So the point here is, doesn't matter how good your posts are. It matters how much are these appreciated by those that already have the merit to share. But what if that specific person doesn't want to share its own credits?

Your words speak. And they show what you are and what level of knowledge you possess. The same thing can be seen in your post that you have got no determination nor dedication to become helpful to this community 'and you cannot become helpful to anybody because of your way of thinking'. It is anybody's right to keep or share their sMerits to anyone they want/don't want, you cannot put all your eggs into one basket and the same rule applies here.

In this forum you can see many threads talking about how to get merit. I can suggest you, what I learn  from these threads.

*Make meaningful threads.

*Share your knowledge.

*Help others.

These are enough to get merit.

Be a scam hunter or buster and merit will pour in your account. Or the best way is to create a useful post for the forum community.
Not always because merit was not supposed to give as a token of appreciation, it just to identify the good post but most scam hunters get merits but not everyone especially their effort given into finding the scammers.

wearing an avatar cap also has its advantage right?

It does matter how good your posts are. That is the number one criteria for getting merits. Post quality and helpful content. It's possible to get merits for funny or quirky posts but this only accounts for a little of the total merit distribution. A quality post is subjective but overall there would be a correlation in what majority of forum member consider deserving of a merit.
But what if that specific person doesn't want to share its own credits?
Nothing can be done, only sources are lightly obligated to distribute their smerit. And much attention shouldn't be paid to who is distributing merits around. Concentrate more on who is benefiting from your posts.

The OP no need to worry about the merit any more, using bought/stolen account is not something that is welcome here.
Refereeing to this post : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.53609756

To all the newbies out there. Don't buy accounts they are most likely stolen/farmed, you can only get into trouble. Make a fresh one and start from 0, like everyone else.

Not necessarily. A post could garner as many merits as long as it's informative/ useful. Some members tend to be generous, hence higher numbers. For example:

1) Take part in contests, for example, in 10th anniversary art contest there were tons merit being given away to participants (their work was good, no doubt on that).
The art contest is over already, and it was productive for many users in: earning merits, developing and showing their skills etc, but who knows when another opportunity like that would come again. I don't think it's a way users should hope to earn merits, probably they'll have to wait for another landmark anniversary, they can just do good works(with effort)on the forum to earn merits, maybe not a ton like the art contest produced, but with time if they double their efforts, the little would add up into a lot(many)
Be a scam hunter or buster and merit will pour in your account.
Users shouldn't want to be scam hunters because they want merits, they should only do so to help the community, and to protect them from losing their cryptocurrencies, merits would then come at the end, but should not be the first aim.

The best way is probably to defend the opinions of some of the more mentally unstable merit sources...

I wonder who are they? Just curious Cheesy
