Farewell o_e_l_e_o
I have never used stylish but upon checking on its reviews, most seem to be negative, I am now even sceptical about. Apparently, it has a dark past, though most negative reviews seem to be shilling its competitor stylus  Huh
People keep using script and stylish but I don't use such things. Because if I don't have skills to test them, I don't feel safely to use them.

I might be too skeptical but having a dark mode does not change my life. If I can have it officially from a website, I will use it. If I have to install something else to have a dark mode, I skip it.

The more times you try with unknown things, the more risks you are readily to take.

Thank you for your effort in developing the site. Can you publish the codes as a user script? Personally, I use several user scripts, which I find useful, as I use several versions of the night mode.
In general, the forum is in its current state, but the night mode is suitable, and I hope that it will be activated in the basic version.

They aren't as good as mine. Don't you think so? Cheesy
I did neither point them out because they are better than yours nor try to assess which ones are better or the best. The list is for reference and to give people more options to choose from.

Previously I forgot to merit you but now you are Full. Congrats!  Cheesy

I see something is notably missing from the list: the BPIP extension.
* the BPIP extension has in-built 2 dark themes
* you can add your CSS as custom theme if you want to
Great contribution as I did not know about that. You did forgot to leave a link to that.

After searching, I knew about that thread, [β] BPIP Extension: user info & extra features add-on/extension, Firefox/Chrome but did not know that their team launched dark themes since version 2.1.x

Previous version (2.1.x)

Is that dark mode option can also work in Mobile? I also have a problem with the brightness of my phone and most of my apps are already in the dark mode, it can be good if that settings can also work in mobile phones.

Hoping to see this feature here in the forum without clicking or doing that much, a simple turn on and turn off can be a big help to many.

I somehow thought that the forums could implement the dark mode feature although I'm not really into that. I see some users might be interested in this dark mode because it is more comfortable at night. But of course this is an option.

I don't know if it costs money to implement this feature, but it's certainly not a very urgent need. Dark mode is needed to fulfill user needs.

It is indeed good that we are discussing this issue again, I know it has been discussed several times here but there was never an answer from the Admins... and this is one I personally support, we need the dark mode option, it is an option because it is a feature that does not require all users to use it by force, those who need the feature could easily turn the button on while those who don't need can leave the button off as it is.

I personally will urge theymos or any other admin in charge to please look into this issue,  it is a feature that is really needed at this time and stage of bitcointalk.

Once a man, twice a child!
Variety is the spice of life. I guess it's better to have options than not and being monotonous. Several online sites which aren't even as old as BTT have the dark mode option (though I don't like using it) and it won't be a bad idea to have such implemented in this noble forum too. I've been given to understand from what I've read in this thread that there was a time a few years ago this same issue was debated. Whatever that happened that made it not see the light of the day shouldn't resurface now. Theymos should let us have that option. We should be upgrading.

Synchronice, thank you for revisiting that issue.

I think it worth a try, since it has much more than that (like showing who is inactive or banned, or DT members; ah, and also links to ninjastic.space or loyce.club or direct link to seeing the archived version of a post).

Can anyone confirm if having dark mode via CSS only is a lot more consistent than using the Stylish plugin? With Stylish, sometimes I'd have to refresh a few times to be able to get all the rules/declarations to reflect to the UI consistently.

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
Honestly, I find these brain-work very fascinating and helpful.
But don't you think someone came up with this, few years ago and maybe, the fact was annulled based on some unanimous insubordination or, maybe, a repelling side-effect - like emojis are gonna be lost or theme colours can't have effect at the same time? I'm just guessing anyways, why? Because it's a common development that anyone would think of -- the likes of THEYMOS himself -- but, on the contrary, nothing was done.

Dark mode is cool. Needless of enumerating its function to you.
Synchronize, you shouldn't stress yourself mentioning codes to Theymos, or how it can be made to function, They know alot more than we do. Maybe you are just tryna prove yourself - that you know what you're insinuating - good.
Let's talk about this guys.

Cheers ,

I want to read information very often on this forum but the problem is that light theme puts a huge strain on my eyes when I don't use a device with retina display.
I was just thinking, what's stopping us from using the dark mode on this forum without 3rd party extensions? And answer is, yes, nothing!  Cheesy

Here are the steps that we need from forum owners to have a dark mode right now Smiley
1. We need to put current colors and dark mode colors in CSS Variables.
2. CSS gradient generator for keeping the gradients on dark mode.
3. Just one Icon
4. A very small JS code, just some lines.

As some of you might know, I challenged myself to build responsive version of current theme. So, I decided to follow that steps and added dark mode on bitcointalk's website that I built and deployed on GitHub static page.

How to test dark mode?
1. Visit: https://jaybates19.github.io/bitcointalk/
2. Click on icon that's located on the right side, under the search button.
If you can't see it or have some problems, either clean your cache or open the incognito tab and load website from there.
3. Cheers, have a nice day! Hope, we will really see dark mode on this forum.
