It's a trap i was baited by the title, yup we might use the terms satoshi and micro BTC your friend can still invest in bitcoin for a small amount then he could try to do some trading to start gaining and he's bitcoin will eventually increase of he works hard for it.
Better late than never he could still join bitcoin even the price is high.

... satoshi instead (click-bait master)  Cool

today someone came to me saying how he was regretting not listening to me and investing in bitcoin. apparently he checked the price this morning Cheesy
and he continued that now it is too late since he can not buy 1 whole bitcoin.

i had to sit him down and have the "talk" with him about all the 8 more zeros that come after the 1 whole bitcoin and the fact that he can choose (almost) any of them and put a number and buy there.

that is why i think it is time to start using the smaller units for bitcoin more often.

i myself prefer Satoshi over all. but there are a lot of them.

most popular:
mBTC= 0.00100000BTC
uBTC=bits= 0.00000100BTC
satoshi=0.00000001BTC

more here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Units
It is too soon to think about using satoshis, I think the best option at the moment is to use mBTC since it is the equivalent a t the moment of 2 dollars, that is a unit of measure that is easier to understand for most people in fact I have my wallet set to view my bitcoin in that way so I can calculate easier the amount of fiat I have.

I think we should use satoshi now.  It is better and easier to remember when using a whole number than the fraction of it.  Now that bitcoin is really expensive, we should familiarize ourself in satoshi since most of the item we will be buying will be worth some hundreds of thousand of satoshi or may just a couple of tens of thousands soon.

If your friend is too dumb to realize that bitcoins can be broken down to 8 decimal places then obviously he never did any checking into it at all. Not even a quick wikipedia read or anything. I've told every friend and family member about bitcoins for a long time and none of them invested. My brother probably shit his pants the other day when I told him how much I have in cold storage. He's worried about stupid crap that's never making any money meanwhile I have 10x profits of money I earned back in the day. Go figure.

Going on about how to tell people about bitcoins in what denomination shouldn't matter. I'm not a millionaire if I have 1 million pennies. Everyone knows that. Just educate them rather than trying to dumb it down for them. Oh and your friend probably still didn't invest. Then another year will go by and he'll be whining still. That's exactly what everyone in my family does. Oh well. I'll retire at 40 and they can keep working until they're dead haha.
If they dont have knowledge about cryptocurrency probably you cant blame them not investing in bitcoin but we know that is already too late to invest even the price is still going up but the doubt that it is a scam or it is too risky in the pass years until now cannot be stop.So no one to blame but lucky for you.
Yes we don't have any rights to blame others, who knows maybe they are new to cryptocurrency, so he is telling like that. Once he checks everything about this Bitcoin, then he only realises what bitcoin is and how it is impacted on all over the world. All newbies are like this they need some time to learn about this bitcoin. We can't blame anyone if we can try to help them to find out more about Bitcoin.

I believe it is necessary to begin to get acquainted with the term shatoshi
People lose interest every time I tell you bitcoin worth 2000 $.
However if we think the value of a satoshi psychologically is more attractive

Yeah , having btc at 2000$ is boring.

-Hey John, let me tell you the great news!
-What?
-One satoshi is worth USD $0.00002!!
-So not even a cent, what's that garbage?
-No, but there are 100 millions in a bitcoin!
-Interesting... that means a bitcoin is worth how much?
-2000$
-Wow!!!! , that's insane I should buy a few!!!!!

CryptoTalk.Org - Get Paid for every Post!
Using satoshi now and in the future is going to be funny.

Alice - Hi, I will send you 50,000 satoshi.
Bob - oh thank you my "darling."
Alice - so long you pay the fee.
Bob - ah ok. How much is the fee by the way?
Alice - that would be 100,000 satoshi.
Bob - Ok. Erm... hang on, i need to pay 100,000 satoshi to receive the 50,000 satoshi that you owe me.
Alice - well, yes. Don't blame me, blame the developers.
Bob - So who are the developers?
Alice - no idea. All i see is some random photos and names on the internet.
Bob - so you never met any of them?
Alice - No.
Bob - so they could be anyone, the photos and names could be fake. They could be bankers, government employees, making sure that us mere mortals can't use Bitcoin as everyday transactions by fixing the fees too high.
Alice - I never thought of that. So what do i do about the 50,000 satoshi i owe you.
Bob - Fuck it.

Lol, yes fees are too high to send small amounts of bitcoins. Bitcoins will probably only be used for large purchases or transfers so we might as well keep using the tern Bitcoin.

This matter has been discussed earlier a few times already

I've seen such a thread myself around three years ago and even posted some proposal in regard to subunits of 1 bitcoin (which I have already forgotten, though). As you can see, no unit caught on, so what makes you think that your take will bring you success and fame across the forum? In fact, human brains don't operate very well with fractions, it requires a lot of conscious effort to understand how much is, say, 0.00345 BTC. On the other hand, everyone would quickly grasp if he was told that it equals almost 7 dollars (or 1 million dollars equals 500 bitcoins). As simple as it gets, and I hope this helps as well

ClaimWithMe - the most paying faucet of all times!
i mainly said we should use Satoshi instead of Milli and Micro because although these may seem to you as obvious units but these two units belong to "metric system" and that is not used worldwide despite being international!
and i have seen many struggle with understanding what m and u mean.
Satoshi makes less sense than millibitcoin and microbitcoin (bits).  I can't think of any measurement at all that uses a hundred millionth of something as the relevant unit.

I'm just saying that it makes the most sense to use bits as that's the most adaptable to likely future Bitcoin prices.  If the price were $1,000,000 (unlikely, but this is the sort of point at which Bitcoin would be fully mainstream and rebranding would be 100% necessary), then 1 bit would be equal to $1 and it would be measured similarly to fiat currency.  Then you would be talking about spending 0.5 bits for example, or 50 satoshi, depending on what you were buying - the same way that you talk about fiat.

Why not try to explain to them that it is just like fiat in which it has a lower type of its value to prevent vague understanding of a possible bitcoin user that you whom talked with

Jinx! Someone also talked to me about this, he also want to invest and bitcoin, but he missed the train to a good profit. I said there are a lot of ways to earn bitcoin, but if you are really decided to buy, you can buy smaller units, not all sellers sell 1 bitclin, they also sell bitcoin on mBTC.

1 Bitcoin is now about 2000$ and it is not very easy for every one to buy whole 1 bitcoin. But the good thing is that you can even buy less than a bitcoin as bitcoin can be divided upto 8 Decimal places.
Bitcoin has got very small denomination which you could never see in most of the altcoins. It's good to buy that you can afford. Even now the profit makers were the big whales who have got huge volume of bitcoin into their wallets as well fiat to buy more and more.

I don't think we need to start using satoshi just yet. Saying something is 50,000 satoshi is going to confuse someone. They would have no idea what that means in terms of USD price.

Maybe Half Bitcoin and Quarter Bitcoin or something. People also get confused in MicroBitcoin and other similar things. We sohuld probably stick to what most people already use as lingo for dollars.

If you are new in bitcoin you will be confused I'm sometimes get confused because I have  to go to preev to check what  it's conversion to dollar,so it's much easier and more economical to use dollar instead of satoshis I'm sure I'm not the only one doing this.

you don't need to actually do that!
lets say you want to purchase something with bitcoin worth $20, you go to the place and they ask you to pay 0.00975609BTC to some address, and you pay it simple as that. you don't even need to know the USD value.
and as far as your wallet go, they usually have some sort of option or additional plugin to show you the USD or other fiat values. you can simply enable it.

I think the smaller units are not relevant when transacting in bitcoins. These are just names given to the smaller units just like cents is to dollar. The ultimate goal is that we are using bitcoin, whether in decimal points or whole numbers.
