Well, someone stole my credit card details and they used it for digital online purchases and I never saw that money again.  Angry  I promised myself that I would cancel my credit card and that I would never get a credit card again .... and I have not had a credit card since then.  Wink

I also take every precaution necessary now to protect my bitcoins from hackers and scammers.

Scammers are not in this game to return stolen or scammed money, they could care less about who you are and how long you have been working for those coins and what your circumstances are.  Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

I don't have an experience of that. But I have experience from being scammed, and the money was not returned to me. I don't think that the scammers will return the money to the victims because they will not think about that. Maybe there is Robinhood that will return that money to people, but I don't think that is many of them. If it's related to the money, only a few people will realize that stolen from other people is bad and they will give back the money to the owner.

Tragically it can never happen, even if you put up a note that you are really poor and it's your whole life savings , it won't matter much to them.

They actually worked hard to hack your wallet , finally succeeded and then to go down to return that money ? They won't do that , they are people blinded by money and doesn't care where it's coming from .

Unfortunately, don't trust anyone and don't let anyone know how many Bitcoins , you are holding.

lol no.
and the worst part is that i have never been hacked and it wasn't a hacker that stole my money, it was an exchange called Bittrex and they stole thousands of dollars worth of bitcoin and some altcoins from me and millions from a lot of other users like me and they never paid any of us back. they simply stole it and got away with it.
damn exchange, really your fate. I'm sure you have been careful to avoid hackers and individual scamers. if any exchange do scaming is unexpected, because cases like this rarely occur. Imagine even an exchange as a corporation scaming, this mean we need put more caution cannot trust anyone in this business.

I first entered the world of cryptocurrency in 2012. During my initial years, I was really immature and inexperienced. I lost huge amount of coins, that I accumulated through hard work. In none of the cases, these coins were returned to me at a later point of time. A few instances are listed below:

1. Lost around 30 BTC after investing in BTCT.co, which was the Bitcoin version of the crypto-stock exchange Litecoinglobal. The exchange closed down suddenly and my shares (BTCT-AT) became worthless.
2. Lost close to 1 BTC when instawallet closed down suddenly.
3. Lost coins while investing in LABCOIN, Quark.etc
4. Lost coins when Mt Gox closed down
5. Incurred losses when Cryptopia closed down.

I have been scammed a few times with cryptocurrencies. Many of my friends also have similar experience. And in none of the cases, the money was returned. And I don't know a single incidence in which the scammers returned the stolen money.

There were some instances but very rare like this one

Quote
The cyberattacker believed to be responsible for a 51 percent on the Ethereum Classic (ETC) blockchain has returned $100,000 in stolen proceeds, while keeping roughly $1 million.

According to Gate.io, the funds were returned last week but it is not known why the cryptocurrency has been returned, or for what purpose -- and efforts to contact the hacker have proved fruitless so far.

I had no bitcoins stolen from me in the first place but if I did I wouldn't expect the thief to feel remorse and send it back. Such things almost never happen.

Maybe it's because I don't have much faith in humanity. Tongue

So far I never heard that there are scammers who returned the money to the owner. I guess this kind of scenario will never happen in the future especially that someone who steals really need an easy money and once they can steal from someone they will surely use it.

Money is everything in this world, you can buy anything that has a value if you have the money therefore it is very rare that someone will return the money especially the scammer. As you can see, scammers are also very patient and it doesn't matter for them whether how long it takes for them to create some code to bypass the other security in order to steal some money. Therefore it is not so easy to steal money from other and that is the main reason why the scammers will not return the money that they successfully stole.

Agreed !! The guiltless soulss Sad

Cryptocurrency offers them anonymity to a certain extent and the advantage is that they can do all these hacking from thousands of miles away. In less than 0.01% of the cases, the law enforcement authorities will be able to get hold of them.

Thats the sad part Sad

nah, it is almost impossible for the hacker or the one stole the BTC to return it in good faith. It is also hard to detect the culprit of stealing BTC because of anonymity. But the transaction could still.be done even if the absence of KYC still block chain could prove it.

Now, does stolen bitcoin really be returned?

No way, hacker needs it and why does he return it? In the first place he had stolen it so why it will be return?

Scammers will never give it back to you, in the first place, they have their own will to steal or scam some bitcoins to other people. What's the point of their hard work to scam some people then giving back it again?
That's why there's a lot of scammers/hackers in cryptocurrency since most of the transaction are irreversible and it's so difficult to track every user's identity.

Winding down.
Seems like mr scammer doesn't care at all. They don't have a moral to begin with. You don't expect someone who stole something to return it (unless you know who stole and caught it red-handed, authorities will take care of it)

The beauty of bitcoin one way is beautiful for the genuine people and for scammers its beauty in their own way to scam innocent souls !
That's the nature of scammers. They will be satisfied once they have steal already the hard earned bitcoins of other people. And there's no way that those stolen bitcoins will be ever returned because it's now safe on the wallets of scammers. So if possible, be very careful with your hard earned bitcoins not to be scammed by anybody else.

scammers are people who don't have conscience. If you fall a victim, forget it your money is never coming back. Scammers will never return any money stolen, they rather sleep with girls with it and go in vacation.
