I don't have an active AV on my system. I have ClamXav installed though, but there's currently no reason to have an AV on mac.

I'm wondering of what's the merit for companies to develop free antivirus firewall and what's not tho, I mean obviously they'll incentive it somewhere else but how when the majority of the users are using the free version, do they sell personal data ?

What is the best program, combination of programs to be as safe as possible?
Im using panda antivirus (free cloud version) and search n destroy.
Im tryinging to update/run those programs 1 time / (day or 2 days).

I am behind 3 firewalls, and on my desktop PC I have only a free antivirus AVG + spybot.

And I must say, I do not issue  any problems with any malware, viruses etc ... or I dunno about it Tongue

Windows security essentials (Active)
HitmanPro (semi active, scans everyday, and every reboots)
Malwarebyte (Passive scans almost everyday or a couple of days)
Also I have Norton Internet security full suite just in case but activated only if I'm tempted to try some stuff but again, if something really untrusworthy the best to do is to try it/use it in a sandbox/virtual PC / Partition whatever just not on your main PC

IMO you don't need an antivirus if you do the right things, such us not visiting untrustworthy websites, Downloading files especially without a signed source is a NO! and of course scanning every file before openning it on totalvirus and similar website is the thing to do if you have to download a file.

HitmanPro is great for privacy! killing those damn tracking cookies is nice, and also it hunts for those adware and low profile malware

Also another things, make sure your Routers and PC ports setting are well set, against incoming traffic and what's not

Usually, running more than one antivirus is bad for your system.
Also, this should not be on technical support, this should be off-topic.
