THEY LIVE
1988

Ditto, also Apocalypse Now changed my outlook on war forever.

I love Grave of Fireflies, but its that kind of movie, you just dont want to see again.

Movies like Limitless or Fight Club are pretty inspirational, if you are underarchiever in your twenties, but dont have much to offer, if you are outside of this group.

Brazil is pretty much the only worthy movie adaptation of Orwells 1984 (despite claiming not to be one). Great, great movie.

Untypically, I really liked HK "City hero" movie about training and exploit of HK swat team. Made me really appreciate the hard work these young men do, to protect society.

Philidelphia made me think about HIV/AIDS in a very different way.
It humanised the people who are infected, it also showed the way that people act to and around gay people well.

I haven't known anyone with HIV/AIDS, so can't say exactly how I would act around them, but I guess the film has made me see that they aremn't to blame and should be treated the same as someone with Cancer really.

Yes that was a touching movie, so was my left foot and  the sea inside , both gave a good touch to the power of human spirit showing how strong it is and how fragile it can be Smiley

I hate Hollywood movies. Its only violence and sex in their movies. There is no social message conveyed which can change the view towards society or change the society as whole. Just what would be the impact of those movies on youth?? And impacts are usually seen on youth.

If people want to go and find social messages they will, media shouldn't be used to enforce other peoples' moralities on the people who consume it, that's just propaganda and brainwashing.

I Don't think that there are many Hollywood movies that can change the way you view the society. Infact some Hindi Movies I have seen were really great For eg. 3 Idiots and Lage Raho Munnabhai these two movies i can say the best till date when it comes to Hindi movies.

I am a big fan of Hindi Bollywood Movies so I would go for the movie "Baghbaan" Starring the Star of the Millenium from Bollywood Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.. The story basically revolves around the children and their parents. How their children changes their attitude and behavior once they are married and become puppet to their wives with no respect for their parents..Its a must watch movie friends.

I dint find any Hollywood movie that changed my view towards society as mostly I love Horror movies and they talk about superstitions and sci-fiction movies are mainly fictional.

Among Bollywood movies, Slumdog Millionaire and PK were good as it changed my view towards humanity and religion. PK tells us that there is only one religion and that's humanity. The creator is only one and he treats all humans equally while it is humans who differentiate between one another.

Slumdog Millionaire focuses on the humans who live in the slum areas and their struggle in life.

Many films have changed my vision of society in which we live. Especially the Terminator saga (do not laugh) . The thought that machines can control such dangerous things like nuclear weapons... The worst part is that truth is stranger than fiction.

Add to THAT list

Even after 34 years, this film still speaks volumes about our current culture, which many ideals are ringing true today. The younger generations are out of control due to lack of parental control, junk culture is becoming commonplace, violence is desensitizing the masses, and we all seem to be enjoying the ride on the way down.

The first film that comes to my mind is the Atlas Shrugged (Part-1 and Part-2, the 3rd part was not up to the mark). Changed my perception about the society, especially that on taxes, government, employment.etc.

Could only afford to see part 1 because of the limited release hoity-toity theater prices, but it practically seemed like a documentary of present day. I was already a libertarian before seeing it, but moved closer to an-cap.

Atlas Shrugged the movie, all 3 parts, should be on Netflix.  I love the character portrayals.  Did it change my view of the world?  No, because I've read the book eight times.

Is the story intended to change the way you look at the world?   Hell yea.

Movies that changed the way I look at things.

Mad Max
Delicatessan
Brazil
They Live
The Last Supper (the one about the libtards having dinner)
Children of Men
Eye in the Sky
V for Vendetta
Blade Runner
Limitless
Office Space
Idiocracy

There are many movies especially in Bollywood that creates an impact on individual which changes his view todwars society.

The last movie which i saw was Jai Ho which clearly tells to help 3 person around you and ask them to help someone 3 person and keeps on multiplying. Help is not only financially it can be morally friendly professionally too.. So that changed my view towards society.

Farenheit 9/11, Sicko, most of Michael Moore's movies changed the way I look at things. It started small, with the TV Nation series he did.

Yesterday I watched a animation movie called " The grave of the fireflies" that changed the way I looked at the society and myself.
It's one of the saddest films I've ever seen, deeply moving. You may find that all Miyazaki's work affects you in a similar way, he is a  true master of his craft. I highly recommend exposing yourself to more of his stuff.

Thank you, can you recommend  any other of his works?
Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away are my favorites. The first two in particular. You should also watch Akira at some point, if you haven't already.

It is fascinating that most of their works are based around World war 2 , I think the war should have impacted his life a lot, and he had to convey his  message to the world.

I don't think there's any movie that can change the way I view the society because I already have very low opinion of it since I don't know when.

I'll be sure to try watching "The Grave of the Fireflies" and "They Live", thought. who knows what will I think of society after that.

Yeah, you should surely watch it, let us know in the thread  what views of society have changed after you had watched 'The grave of the fireflies'.
