I was not aware of bitcoin and haven't heard of it during the early years and I know bitcoin since 2015. But, many people claim that they know bitcoin since the early years and they are all legacy users but I'm not sure how many bitcoin users were really aware of exiting bitcoin during the years before 2011. I saw some old posts here on the forum related to the old days and I believe the real regacy users know bitcoin before 2011 was much more technical and most of them were miners or developers, while these days we see more investors comparing to the old days.

I am sure that the most profound thing for all generations of that year is only the faucet that cannot be forgotten until now. However, the faucet site at that time we had ignored and didn't realize that now we were missing the opportunity of a lifetime. If you compare it now, it will not be comparable in the past. We have left him and cannot do the same.

I don't think that they would be the only people that will know of it, pretty sure that stories circulate and I don't think that people aren't going to tell newbies stories of the old, it has been the thing for almost anything, we pass down the knowledge to the young ones right?

If you want to have some fun, go back and read some of the old posts..back in the day when Satoshi was around and conversing with the members that were around then..like Theymos for example.  There are some things that I remember Theymos talking about that seem so funny today, because of how different things were back then..I want to say they said something like hardware wallets or paper wallets would never be a thing..something like that.  I find it all super fascinating stuff!

Leaving their Pentiums mining bitcoins, that's for sure. Nowadays you cannot do it even with the most powerful desktop PC processor existing, or even with the most sophisticated graphics card for consumers. Definitely not a bitcoiner before 2011, but I feel that most early adopters back then felt that it's their duty to run their machines for a long time in order to help make the bitcoin network secure.

And as a lot of people say, faucets are already a thing back then to entice people to use bitcoin and join them on this project.

In 2011 i am just a 10 year old kid. I am a student of class 5. And live in village. And in our village in 2011 there has only nokia 1100,1600 button phone. So it is damn impossible to know about bitcoins wallet ui/ux or bitcoin culture or whatever you say. Where it quite impossible to hear about the word called bitcoin. Well still if i say anyone about bitcoin some people still give a confused look. They say they heared this word first time in there life. Can you imagine in 2021 they hear 1st time. So its a things and for your culture i don't think i could be a best person to discussed about it. Thank you.

Things change according to usage and number of users, and it is this number that forces governments to make some economic changes.
In the early days, the number of users was few and there were not many methods of analysis, and thus it became a safe haven for those who want to run business in secret.
Over time, more users and more money will flow in, more users will start using the network and therefore governments will try to track people to earn more taxes.
Over time, the misuse will decrease, but the stricter identity verification laws will increase.

Well, I did not enter the Bitcoin scene prior to 2011.. but just a few years after that... one thing that set the theme back then was anonymity and hiding from "Big Brother"  Roll Eyes  Most people knew what happened to other people who tried to create their own currency, so most people wanted to avoid the same fate.... (cloak and dagger was the standard practice)  Wink

It was also nowhere near as user-friendly as most wallets are today.... and not even close to a stage where it could go mainstream. (More a technology for tech junkies and developers)

If you were involved in Bitcoin back then.... you will understand why Satoshi Nakamoto went into hiding, after Gavin informed him that he had talks with the 3letter agencies.  Roll Eyes

The past was really the dark age times and I'm sure much more users will agree on this. Back then there were really much of misplaced information from bubble to disappearing hypothesis especially from economist. The scam at the time was really high because there were little understanding about bitcoin which brought discourament to people who heard the scam. I think better awareness is on the rise this days.

The least that I can remember are faucets, they were so profitable back then but given the current times, they're a relic of the past. Not a lot of users here were from 2011 but that's understandable, I mean those that were from that time have probably moved to another endeavors in life.

I'm not into Bitcoin the year 2011, though my crypto journey started when a friend introduced a coin to me.
Base on my research, Bitcoin and Litcoin was the only existing cryptocurrency in the year 2011
Crypto exchanges users don't need to go through KYC. Mtgox was the first and the only Bitcoin exchange before the arrival of other exchange sites.
The first Bitcoin to fiat currency P2P exchange.

There were faucets where you got up to 50 Bitcoins per request daily. Today this is up to $2,5 million. Even later you still had the chance to find faucets here and there which gave away 1+ Bitcoin on each requests. From today's perspective, enormous values were given away for free at that time. At that time, however, it was only a few cents at best.

I don't know what bitcoin was like before. I only know that blockchain technology, which has attracted people's attention because of bitcoin, has recently been applied to the monitoring of medical drugs and food.

I actually asked in another thread some time back, but not replied. The mining thread on this forum only opened up about 1 year++ after Bitcoin was made available.

What would they have called running a full node or hashing before then? Noding?

Also, did anyone ever actually make the Blackjack app playable or show screenshots in the first client? Would be cool to see maybe.

There's a whole eco-system rising mainstream now, how were things different back in the day? Were there some unrecognizable practices that no longer go on today? What are some cool throwback things? Has navigating the dark web changed with respect to how the blockchain is navigated (is it as anonymous now with ppl including feds being able to track things the way they can)?

I don't understand your question.
Bitcoin and some altcoins were adopted by the darkweb marketplaces a few years ago,but other than that,I don't see how blockchain technology had changed the darkweb. In order to access and use the darkweb, you need Tor Browser/Tails OS and onion websites. Those three pieces of technology have nothing to do with blockchain technology.
Anyway, about your main question, well,I wasn't aware about Bitcoin in 2011,but I guess that 2009-2011 were the "golden years" of Bitcoin mining by using just your PC and Bitcoin faucets.
Crypto exchanges and mixers were not a thing. Most altcoins weren't created. All the tokens,ICOs,DeFis and NFTs weren't a thing as well.
Using BTC definitely wasn't user-friendly back then...

Some users are promoting BTC by themselves and during that time the faucets are giving 5BTCs. Obviously, they are not giving that big today, I don't even see faucets sending $0.50 anymore.

There were also lots of developers forking coins and giving away these coins to users to jumpstart the economy which also during that time, it's easy to add these coins to exchanges. During that time, the most popular was poloniex which still survive today with a different owner.

I knew about bitcoin since its inception. I was also having access to a desktop pc with intel i5 processor that time. I was one of the few initial customers in my country to buy an i5 desktop system. I could have been a millionaire today but unfortunately I didn't bother much about it and didn't give it a go. I was earning well theough various freelancing work and I was happy. It seems god didn't want me to become rich. Otherwise back in 2009-10, my i5 pc was enough to mine seceral hundreds of bitcoins which could be valued few millions today and I would live a life of a king. But alas! My ignorance failed me big time.

Also bitcoin was very complicated at that time. Only bitcoin core wallet was available which would require few lines of codes to operate. Probably that's another reason why bitcoin didn't attract me that time.

I was still in school in 2011. I was ignorant and didn't know the existence of Bitcoin. I guess few people know that Bitcoin itself is a game of tech geeks. The first time I came into contact with or heard of Bitcoin was 2015.

Probably the most important part that most users back in the day, or at least the new users tend to overlook is the true nature of bitcoin, you see people in the early days of adopting bitcoin they didn't look at it as an investment they just thought that being able to make crypted anonymous transaction using a currency that is not made by the government a cool thing, a revolution in the finical system, and unlike most of the new users who only view bitcoin as an investment and a way to make money.
