Bitcoin FTW!
The fact that the r/bitcoin subreddit doesn't actively utilize tags or a sorting system and the fact that you can't really filter out non-serious posts like memes and price updates, etc are the biggest downsides of the subreddit. I still actively use the site as a whole and visit r/bitcoin several times a day, but if you're looking for precise information, bitcointalk is the best way to go. That's not to say that there isn't serious discussion on Reddit (responses on Reddit occasionally are comparable to those found on this forum or stackexchange). News about Bitcoin gets there quicker than on most other mediums, and there's always an abundance of interesting and informative articles every time you go there.

dogs are cute.
Not sure why no one has mentioned it yet, https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/, albeit that this isn't really a forum, there are some great questions/answers discussion about the technicalities of bitcoin.

You'll rarely find spam there, and mostly straightforward answers to (mostly) technical questions.
I use this site very often, for my Q/A thread and for other purposes and I have found it very helpful. The questions are asked, and are answered with good insight. Its easy to find any technical questions related to bitcoin in this forum/whatever.
What about /r/bitcoin? There are good disucssions made there and some of the BTC developers go there sometimes to discuss their thoughts and proposals.

There are also funny memes and threads which make it less boring.
Reddit is also filled with spam but maybe with a little more humor. But that place is definitely not the best for bitcoin related technical questions without any doubt.

I can't stand it myself. It's more Reddit's format itself than the content, but a lot of the content is irritating too plus it's very hard to find older stuff when you're on the hunt for useful information.

It is much better for the latest news. I often notice something has a huge thread on there when it's never even mentioned here.

Beyond that the network effect applies to forums just as much as currencies. Every day this place stays ahead makes it harder for anywhere else to catch up.

Several forums similar to Bitcointalk have existed, but none had succeeded. I'm not sure about the correct url, but it is for the altcoins. In that it has got the same form as our bitcointalk.org, such as the ranking, merit, badges, etc. Even some bounty campaigns too were running.

That is really great mate. If there is option to earn money with the other forum newbies who is looking to earn the tokens via bounty will be looking to earn the bitcoin and ethereum if there is option for campaigning there bro.

I have came across many forum and places to earn the money but none of forum will be able to various option to earn the money like doing in this forum mate. You please share the link of the forum you mentioned here.
I also check many forums but in very short period I have no forum like this even too much spam but still we have many opportunities for newbies for good and technical knowledge and as become Sr Member they have good chance for have good amount of money I sure many are doing full time now here on this forum
Spam is inevitable into this forum considering on the traffic instances are high and quite common but you do have some point inspite on having those flaws of this forum but still this is the best place to learn up about crypto.Just take a look only into valuable informations rather than on seeing on spam and useless ones.I cant think any similar bitcoin forum which do have the same popularity as this one.

On the internet today is actually a lot of sites that provide information about cryptocurrency. There are also many forums that have many members . But still I think that bitcointalk.org is a top choice, everyone who knows bitcoin will know this forum. With a variety of topics that are very uptodate and also premises the number of users is very extraordinary then has made this forum becomes very large. So never to look and look for alternatives because all the stuff and information already exists in this really great forum.

Vave.com - Crypto Casino
There is alternative. Called blockchain forum  https://www.blcx.org

I have lost 2 accounts already and admin do not even bother to respond to emails. Even this account got negative rating for complaining about a merit points. Some thinks they earn more trust by reporting other users
You deserve it man! Each forum has its own rules therefore you should really be responsible on reading up first if you dont like to suffer consequences and now you are suggesting another forum with dont have even post being made on there. I dont see any alternatives or any other forum that would be match up with this one, bitcointalk has it all. If there are some forums exist then it wont really be as good with this thats why lots of people will always prefer this place.

I don't think it can replace Bitcointalk. All resources are now based on Bitcointalk. Today’s results are not immediate, but day after day. It took many years to achieve today’s status. In fact, the forum grew up with BTC.

you're wrong to find technical discussion here.  Grin This place is for discussing about merit, how level up, definition of shitposting, shitposter...blah blah and some mad men think that they are hero going around giving away merit

Either you have not accessed all the threads available on this forum else your are ignorant about the forum. It provides all the required information regarding crypto be it at beginner level or an expert opinion you will get all the answers under this crypto forum.

So guys if you have any doubt you can ask questions in the relevant threads.

Metawin.com - Truly the best casino ever
I really think this is going no where.
Welcome to the club.

I'd love to find a forum where it's less crowded with a lot more technical discussions. Ideally people there don't care about levels. There are new technologies being discussed.
There is no such place. If you want to follow technical discussions, then:
a) Follow the Bitcoin development mailing list.
b) Follow the Lightning development mailing list.
c) Read the #bitcoin-core-dev IRC channel.
d) Read the #bitcoin-dev IRC channel.
e) Read the #lnd IRC channel.
f) Obviously, (as you've mentioned) pay attention to the Github repos.

maybe i understand it wrong, besides technical discussions, exactly what kind of meritorious posts are the forum look to promote?   i looked at the recent posts with merits (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=toptopics),  most of them are posts that extolling the new merit system.   (or helping to promoting, explaining, the new system.)

are those posts the admins want to define as meritorious posts?
if not, should they pay more attention to the actually useful ones and promote those?

if they want to fight signature campaigns, should they remove their signatures first?

Just like bitcoin itself, it's up for fork when the community can't agree.
That won't work.

Seriously, can't think of a better use case for DAO than such a forum!
Horrible idea.

why? I guess horribleness is relative.   things just need to be less horrible than the alternative
Can't understand what's your point. You are looking for alternative bitcointalk, what do you expect? Suggesting of forum.bitcoin.com? No!
You asked technical question and didn't get answer? I highly doubt while we have these two persons: gmaxwell, achow101.
Do others post shit? Just ignore them. I am amazed why you don't even expect shit post on forums, not everyone is genius in crypto world.
Why do you care about merit posts in Meta board? You are looking for technical discussion, so hang on this board, click on - on left side.

If you create the anonymous account on any website then you will not get the stucked anywhere.
Nothing can replace bitcointalk ever mate.

If you're interested in altcoins you could try https://cryptocurrencytalk.com/

AKAIK this is it for Bitcoin discussion forums. All the others that launched didn't get enough people using them to make it worthwhile. You need to get a certain quorum of posters to create enough interesting posts to attract others to join so it's a very difficult thing to do when there's already a dominant established competitor. There's Reddit of course but that's not really a forum.

I checked out Ethereumtalk.org but it's nothing.
mETH is a centralized shitcoin, don't expect proper technical discussion there.

I know there are lots of quality discussion on the various github repos, but I'd still prefer a forum setting. I checked out Ethereumtalk.org but it's nothing.

I don't like the flying of shit in posts here, neither do I like some of the the condescending admins here. Just like bitcoin itself, it's up for fork when the community can't agree.

I remember that a while ago someone was talking about a decentralized forum, maybe this is a real use for the chain -- to fork forum easily. So that all existing users will still keep their accounts on the new forum, just the rules will be different.

Seriously, can't think of a better use case for DAO than such a forum!

as a total newbie this thread is rather funny. Why not post with your original account?

yeah, sometimes I also wonder why didn't Satoshi release bitcoin using his real name, ever thought about that?

anyway to answer in a sensible way.. why don't you check out the forum by the honorable Mr Ver?

bad try, not sensible
