DT-1 are those who Thymos trust their ratings
Being on DT1 doesn't mean that theymos automatically trusts you. Here is his trust list so you can see who he actually trusts/distrusts and who distrusts him https://loyce.club/trust/2023-09-30_Sat_05.07h/35.html

Thank you. I have updated my trust list.

Reread Zaguru12's first post, the difference is indicated between Staff and mod.
Look at what's written under my username in this post (<==) and see what appears if I write in the section I'm moderating (for example here).

Understood. I see your rank name changes based on the boards you are assigned.

Dude, whatchu looking for ?? That's exactly whatchu need to know...do you really think there are hidden capabilities that they don't wanna let you know about??

I didn't meant it like that. I was just confused. I simply didn't knew, how much of influence or powers those specific roles held. But now it's cleared. Thanks to you guys.

I think you misunderstood my question. I wanted to know the capabilities and limitations of Staff, Moderator and DT.

Let try to explain it in fb terms Smiley

DT is just a "friends list"... friends you trust the most Smiley
    - Now if you don't have your custom friend list, then theymos gives you one that's DT list
    - Their special capability is they can put a "red flag" on you, if they you try to break anyone's trust (it's not moderated and purely speculative and based on someone's personal judgment)

Moderator
     - Their special capabilities includes moving/editing/deleting your posts or topics
     - They can ban you or lock you out

Staff
     - Same as moderator, but working overtime out of their assigned (board / area)

Global Moderator
     - All those capabilities of a moderator + they can unban you

Administrator: I guess you know it already

From what I understand, moderators have the power to delete or move posts, but they do not have the power to ban members.
Moderators can not unban users. They have to file their reports to global moderators and admins who will consider unbanning a banned user and refusing to do it.

Previously, only admins can unban users but it was changed since 2019 and after that global moderators have unban button too.

Posts are reported to moderators who check out the report. If the poster needs to be banned, the moderator sends a ban report up to a global mod or admin. The global mod or admin handles all of the ban reports they get at around the same time. Either the admins or global mods don't need to check every account because they trust the moderators to have already done so, or they check quickly because every such report contains references and links to the plagiarism post and to the source text so checking takes little time.

Global mods were given the ability to ban signatures only yesterday. Do you think we can get through all the appeals in one day? Be patient.

From what I understand, moderators have the power to delete or move posts, but they do not have the power to ban members.

Also, DT and DT1 do not have the power to ban members, but they can tag any profile and it will have a significant negative impact, but I do not think it will lead to banning the member later.

As for banning members, I believe that this is within the powers of the Global Moderator and Administrator only. I do not know if I am wrong.

FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit.

I wanted to know the capabilities of these ranks and positions. If I say more specifically, I would like to know the difference between moderators, staff, and DT. These 3 position holds much influence in the forum. I want to know the extent of these positions. And who holds the power to ban a user? As far as I know, moderators are in charge of different boards for spam and illegal activities and reporting them and deleting them. I don't know what the staff does, maybe they check the reports and ban them. As for DT they are the most trusted members of the forum. Do they hold the same powers? Like banning somebody? What are their limits? Can a DT be staff or moderator and vice versa. As for the rest of the ranks, I know enough.
Admins: no need to explain and there are two admins: theymos and Cyrus. The head admin is theymos.

Global moderators: they are more powerful than staffs as with a global moderator role, they can manage the forum globally while staffs only are capable of boards they are assigned in and are responsible for moderating those boards.

Staffs: explains above. Some staffs can moderate different boards but they must get assignments from forum admins to moderate boards that are not their local boards.

DT members: they don't need to be admins, global moderators or staffs to be DT members.
Default trust changes are what currently applying for forum DT system. If you don't scam, break rules, DT members are harmless and they can not do anything powerful against  you.

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
Staff: Employees of the forum. They interpret the rules and will definitely relate often with Theymos and LoyceV about the forum.
Huh?

Hi LoyceV, how is the forum going ? I just wanted to let you know that I will be a little late with my weekly report Smiley.
I dunno why I find this really funny ....lol
Hal really needed to smack your ass with that sarcasm... I hope you get to learn alot about answering questions like this....y'all just type whatever comes into your head at that point just to complete your post count... HTF does loyce become a determinant over a staff legendary in this ??
I think you misunderstood my question. I wanted to know the capabilities and limitations of Staff, Moderator and DT.

I have already read that thread many times. It just says colors and symbols and others of those positions. But not any comparisons.

In fact, in the past there was no member rank or legendary. The highest rank was hero member and everyone could wear an avatar. You can review the changes in the ranking system here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/history-of-bitcointalkorgs-rank-system-5170032

Currently, there are members besides admins who can add people to the white list (proxy ban ) and members who are not mods but can delete posts for newbie rank only.

Are moderators and staffs actually ranks or rather positions, we cannot earn them, vote them except Theymos select us for them, DT is base on your own determinations, level of commitment, how trusted you are and how others have trusted you, moderators have the ability to delete posts, lock threads and ban or unban a user but i know less of the staff responsibilities, DT is just as everyone of us here but a set of trusted users.

I remember reading one of our local moderator before which is categorized as staff rank that they can only delete post and suggest to the admin what can be done to their assigned local board while Moderators is the one that can do the staff job in global board with an additional power to ban user that violate forum rules. I’m not sure whether staff member can ban user too but the known difference is their scope of work since staff is limited to the local boards they are assigned.

DT on the other hand is just a special position due to the democracy of the forum. Its only main capability is to give positive/negative trust that can be seen by user using default trust on their trust list.

DT-1 are those who Thymos trust their ratings and can not ban a user if that’s what you mean.
Staffs and Moderators are picked by Thymos, regular or local moderators through applications though but are just members that are limited to their assigned boards. I don’t think they can ban a user probably a global moderator can. As for Staffs it seems to report to Thymos and have the ability to ban and Unban a user. They are specially employed by Thymos, the criteria is something we don’t know but you must be a very good contributor to the forum and also understand it very well.

I don’t think they report to LoyceV but to only Theymos. LoyceV shockingly is also not on the list of staffs or even the admin

And there are those who are most trusted known as DT members. Lastly staff, administrator, and founder.

As for DT they are the most trusted members of the forum. Do they hold the same powers? Like banning somebody? What are their limits? Can a DT be staff or moderator and vice versa. As for the rest of the ranks, I know enough.

DT aren't the most trusted, DT 1 is gotten by appointment by theymos and they're selected from a number of members that met the DT requirements DefaultTrust changes. DT2 are those trusted by DT 1. You can be among those with the most trust feedback yet, you're not a DT 1 member. DT don't have power to ban anybody on the forum, they don't have administrative power to delete posts or do any thing. Consider them to be police of the forum as their feedback on your profile has a lot of weight.

Yes anybody can be a DT member when they meet the requirements and a DT can also be a moderator/staff

I know it may sound like a stupid question but I created this thread anyway. It was just a curious mind question to know the forum and its members.

With the little knowledge I now possess of the forum, I could say that different ranks and titles in the forum carry different powers and functionality. This is evident in the benefits and functionality of the normal ranks from brand-new status to Legendary. Let me summarise the unusual ones aside from the founder since it's an obvious one. This is based on my little knowledge here though.

Staff: Employees of the forum. They interpret the rules and will definitely relate often with Theymos and LoyceV about the forum.
Moderators: As in all moderating forum functions.
DT: Trusted users for tagging and feedback (positive/negative).
Copper Membership: Bought membership that allows you to post images. It's a membership status that gives you the benefit of a member rank. (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.24371150).

Default trust is a list maintained by the website's administrator Theymos, which as the name suggests, is the default list everyone creating a new bitcointalk account will  have.
It's recommended however to create your own trust list based on your dealings with people in the forum.

There are some rules Theymos has set for how an account ends up in DT which you can read here:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/defaulttrust-changes-5095156

And you can track and discuss updates in DT in the latest pages of that thread too.

I will try to keep it as short and simple as possible. I know there are many ranks and positions in Bitcointalk. Like newbie, Jr, member, full member Sr, hero, and lastly legendary. Also, there is donator and copper member, moderator, and global moderator. And there are those who are most trusted known as DT members. Lastly staff, administrator, and founder.
