I think there is nothing wrong in doing something that gives you pleasure but doesn't affect negatively your life. I don't think it's wasting live if I often drink, go parties, gamble and etc, it doesn't ruin my life because I am going pretty well.
But I would ask your question with different meaning. What are most of the population wasting their lives on? Answer is simple: making some people rich. Yeah, let's take countries where people work like slaves to feed themselves while business owners are becoming and becoming rich, none amount of money can feed them. They collect money and that's all, they have so much money that they don't even need and even if they invest in something, for example in startups, they do it in order to increase their budget and their budget increases from our pockets, so money in our pockets decreases but for all of this, we work days and nights. That's a problem, huge problem.
This is how our economic system works. If we want to get richer then we need to be smarter and first step is stop doing jobs which keeps you as slave.

Try to do the investments and avoid paying taxes legally which is the way to become richer and Warren Buffet proved it as well.

25 days, 3 hours and 7 minutes spent on bitcointalk.
Time is your most valuable asset: never waste it; enjoy spending it as often as possible.

331 days

12 hours

6 minutes

On btc

Did that in seven years.

Which is about 4 hours a day
But there is someone called "hmblm1245" has been online on bitcointalk for "2336d 23h 31m"
Which is nearly 6.4 years. Shocked

But didn't post anything since 24 May 2016,but still online at the moment. How is it possible?

Well it all depends on our point of view you call it a waste of time while we call it quality time,
Don't call it a waste if you are communicating to a person you care about what if it is the last time that you could do it?
~snip
When you say waste, it means it no longer has value to you — now or anymore. Maybe it was useless. I guess we waste our time on people who don’t give importance to us. We give them so much of our time, effort, and developed feelings for them but they can’t do the same way for us. On the brighter side of life, it’s not a waste of time when we are talking to our loved ones. Every moment spent with them, we can never take back and must be cherished. Some might say we waste our time on this, maybe because we spend too much, but I agree that it’s all in the way you look at it. Your perspective to how you value your time and who you spend it on.

It all depends on how we view it some could say that it is a waste of time to play,
While we are having fun playing,The time we spent together with our friends the memories you made is a treasured experience.

If we have a lot of free time, we have a lot of time to waste.

I am not a fan of watching shows in TV, or playing computer games or online games, my only habit is to gamble online
and that is very entertaining from the start but when I loss money, I used to realize it's a waste of time.

Also, I am actively visiting this forum, I like to stay here reading valuable comments and participating in discussion and though at the start of my journey here I feel it's a waste of time since it does not give good return but eventually it gives me the return I never expected, it's a positive thing, if you will ask.

...reading this forum and studying the cryptocurrency on the monitor screens. Yes, it really is in most cases. But I want to say that there are much more valuable things around us: Family, children, beloved wife, mother.. Let's give them more of our time and not live this life so useless.

We all know about all of these. Thank you for wasting 2 minutes from my life for reading your topic and two more minutes to post this reply.  Grin

PS: I hope you have no plagiarize it from anywhere.
Can't stop laughing, so people here can be funny you just made my day cos most at times when I look at people's post they're too uptight for my liking this is the first time I've ever seen someone really act natural on this platform. Buddy thumbs up

Play games and watching TV. I once played a PC game 3 days in a row and only slept for 5 hours a day. Coupled with watching TV for hours. This is an activity that is a waste of time in my opinion. I play games and watch TV too much. At my current age, I regret that because I should be able to produce something more important and get the benefits now.
I don't really consider it as a waste of time because we enjoy it.
For me waste of time is doing what you don't really want to do not enjoying the time .
But as long as we enjoy it we shouldn't consider it as a waste Y.O.L.O so enjoy don't live a life full of regret enjoy what you can.

well, I can see that you are very frustrated by everyone who is wasting his/her time inefficiently. but this is human nature we can't be perfect but everyone wants a life where he gets all the satisfaction and comfort and not forgetting the wealth too. I have spent like 10years playing with my friends and in that 10years let's say I used technology as like 2hours daily but now I use technology 70-80% of my daily life, but it is not wasting my time. I do not spend my time on social media or other useless stuff I mix technology with my daily life to save time and as a coder, I used to automate stuff which needs my regular attention so I can not skip the time but I can definitely reduce that amount of time it takes.

I don't know if I was wasting my time watching anime and reading manga though I'm happy doing that? I spent most of my time in social media, forums, and youtube, my day is not complete if I cannot access the internet.

During our 20's to 50's, we spend a lot of time working. If your work doesn't make you happy then your wasting your life.
Better find a investment or work that will create a passive income and continue to increase it over time.
Set an achievable passive income goals that will accommodate your lifestyle, once you reached it.
Then live life that makes you happy without wasting it.

Thinking about maybe its best to exit now and put the money into something else but will just hold and wait.

I wasted my life on study
Collect money
Travel to long distances
Watching matches
A lot of silly stuff
None of that sounds like a waste of time. You should always be willing to study and learn new things, not just in school.
You collected money? Were you a debt collector for a mob?  Grin
I wish I had travelled more. I have seen some beautiful countries and could never get enough of that. Travelling is a great way of understanding that those you maybe considered as foes are just portrayed that way and they think the same about you, and you are both wrong.
Watching matches? Nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't turn my back on my club for anything in the world. Thought me about respect, loyalty, teamwork and passion. The victories and the joy are my drug.

I spent most of my time in the internet since it is my work place.
I don't really think that I am wasting my time since I am earning and learning new things.
If you enjoyed the time that you spent on something then it isn't a waste of time.

Reading large blocks of text in opening posts. Well I skipped through it, and only read about 4 lines. Smiley

I grant the guy the 1 Merit he received in return for the time he spent writing these large blocks of text.

Not sure if it should have been posted in the Serious Discussion though. More like "Making it sound serious even though it's not discussion".
