I haven't watch any movies from this list yet. I can't also remember if I have already watch a trading movies but I would love to try these movies from your list if I have given a chance and time. Seriously, I'll try to watch these movies if I have free time. Do you have any suggestions what to watch first? Or the best among those lists? So I can know what to watch first? I don't wanna start with a movie that isn't that interesting cause it'll probably affect my whole mood watching movies related to trading.

I can certainly recommend what to watch for. I guess it depends on what you're looking for.
Trader (Paul Tudor Jones) for example is a documentary. It's a real life look at one of the well known traders in his early days. To some though, it might be boring. But if you love all things trading it might just be the best one the list.

Other movies like The Wolf of Wall Street have very little to do with actual trading and is more entertainment than anything. And then Trading places, although an old movie is a great comedy. And then you have the Big Short, which is entertaining but also based on a very important time in the markets/economy in the US.

Let me know what you're into and I'll be happy to give some suggestions.  More than anything, this is just for fun. I don't necessarily think anything can be learned from these. Just putting it out there for those that love trading as much as I do.

Thats a great list and have personally watched more than half of those, my favourite being the big short. However, if you'll indulge me I'd like to add one more, not a movie, but a very provocative and interesting series about trading called, BILLIONS. It stars Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis!

I love how trading movies inspire to trade your trading game to the next level!

Billions is awesome! I was hooked on that show from the first episode where the Axelrod spotted a big trade that went through during lunchtime and then decides to reverse the trade call. It's gotten a bit more dramatic as the seasons have gone on and has less to do with trading as time passes but still love the show. Can't wait for the new season!

i've watched some of those movies but if its all about just trading and making money it gets boring to watch without action. pelham 123 movie is a package where there is drama, action and thrill. its about a forex who has positioned to short USD as he plans to disturb the economy by taking over a train. he hits 2 birds with one stone by shorting and then also claiming ransom from the government who negotiate with him to stop the train. one notable movie also is the money monster.

This is the only movie I watched listed by OP The Wolf of Wall Street, Been busy reading crypto news and doing works, I guess I should get inspiration in those movies to be influenced to trade more since I only trade once or twice a week sometimes a month depending on Market situation, it just that I lose interest whenever the trade I chose went wrong so I make sure that the market is quite good before trading.

Wolf of wall street will always be my favourite not only for trading movie, but also my favourite movie  Grin
So much that we can learn from the film to our life, we have to careful about money because that can blind us. We sacrificed our marriage life, family, social life. "Staying consistent with your lifetime values, no matter what, is a truer base for success and happiness."
Great job from leonardo de caprio for playing it so good.

Wolf of wall street is one my favorite movies, which they make money that are worth of million of dollars by defrauding wealthy investors out of millions, that is why i already watched it more than 3 times. Honestly, this is the only movie that i have watched that are related to trading because most movies that i watched are related to gambling movies.

Your list pretty much sums all the movies ever made on stock markets. I would like to add another movie which is "Margin Call" to this list. Even if this is a lot just like the Big short but pretty much different as the person finds the crash coming by seeing the charts. I love the big short too the way they have explained the Big Housing Bubble and the derivative contracts created upon that is really impressive. Moreover how the world was too blind to notice pretty much speaks about the reality.

Wolf of Wall Street is my classic favorite, but the series with Gordon Gekko are very useful to get some tangence with the sharp blades of the wall street professionals. Just seeing this thread I need to remind myself to watch some more trading movies or documentaries. I don't really have a desire to get on the Wall Street as I prefer a more calm and peaceful life, but it's fun for me to watch all the chase of the money.

I've watched wall street. It was pretty interesting albeit pretty old though so I kinda skipped over some bits and pieces here and there. I've also watched Margin Call, I don't know if you've heard of it, but its main theme is financial crisis and was really good. There was a scene there with the janitor which was quite amusing to watch, I wouldn't disclose the details but that scene gave me a good laugh. Most other movies I've watched are related to coding and hacking sadly enough.

Thank you for the reference! Although I have never watched a movie like the one mentioned above, but I often find films related to "Bitcoin" One of them is the Korean drama movie "Voice 3", in one of the episodes there was a case where a Bitcoin trader killed himself because of the big dump like what happened in 2017 ago.

I am also very happy to watch movies, almost all films with the theme of trading I always watch. But there are only a few that
made an impression, one of the wolf of wall street played by Leonardo Dicaprio exciting stories about scammers in the trading
world. And next the pursuit of happyness, played by Will Smith, tells of a medical device salesman who finally knows the world
trading led to success. Trading themed films always inspire me, by watching the film me too so motivated watching. Hopefully in
the future there will be more films with trading themes.

Money Monster. It gives me the realization that we can't always rely on someones signal. In this film George Clooney plays as a walls street expert who gives out tips live on TV on which stock will gain and which will not however there is one who took it seriously and lost a lot of money and took him (George Clooney) as a hostage.

I saw The Wolf of Wall Street  Grin Grin and Boiler Room. I don't know about other movies you listed but i don't think that those movies gives you any good point about trade. Yes you can earn some courage, may be you can inspire which is great though. You can try also this one if you want Crypto.

Instead of watching movies about trading, you can learn a lot by reading a book or listening to it.
Many films are based on a certain idea which is not necessarily correct.
this is my list:

 - Margin Call 2011
 - Wall Street 1987

For Bitcoin:

 - Crypto 2019
 - Trust Machine: The Story of Blockchain

I agree el kaka22 - most of the movies paint a bad picture of trading.

Even Wolf of Wall street, I mean it looks interesting and all.. but at the end of the day he robbed a bunch of people and went to jail for it. What you mentioned from the Big Short is also true, but I still felt like I learned a bit from it. Like how the main character found out the housing industry was going down because there was fraud happening. It was like a forward signal. It was easy to see but nobody was looking.

But anyway, they are all for entertainment, I certainly enjoy watching them.

Another one I forgot to mention, not a movie but a show - Billions. I think it is quite good. Early in the first season it has more to do with trading and as it goes on it lessens.

Out of the whole list, if you're looking for one that you can actually learn from it is Trader, the story about Paul Tudor Jones.

Boiler room is not a good example of a trading movie Cheesy. I mean it surely has trading in it but it shows the dark side of the trading world where people basically steal others money. Hell most of those include bad examples, not for bad trading movie example but for bad stealing type of example, trading places has Eddie Murphy learning what the crop reports will be beforehand and making someone else bankrupt, wall street has insider trading that goes to jail, the big short has people who are seeing the reality but others basically screwing people with house mortgages.

There are tons of movies that shows the bad side of trading, margin call is another one of them, people realizing their paper worth nothing and then selling it because otherwise they would be holding bad papers, you can add that to your list.
