Elemination of the need 4 such devices - use a big KVM-Switch.
on 95 rigs ? not an optionuse IPMI
I can remotely shut down machine when it freezes or for any other reason and power it up again, the only issue is that ASUS H81M-k mobos in some cases need monitors plugged in to turn on properly

Those $2 converters definately don't work for the RX 470/480 cards I tried. Don't know if using resistors would help however. Dont have any on hand.
All my rigs are working with those 2$ HDMI to VGA converters without any mods/resistor , just plugged to the main GPU and all my rigs are RX470 on windows 10.
Really? I guess the one they've sent me from Chinese was defective. Will order another one.

I dont get it, why do you need this thing for mining? 
in some cases when monitor isn't plugged in the rig it won't start up

On linux sometimes it create problem as well but it is simple work around. Change default GPU to mainboard and problem solved (maybe it will help on windows as well?)
The only time I've had to worry about this, I used a spare HDMI -> VGA converter like those pictured in previous posts - did NOT need to use resistors.
As a general rule though, it's not an issue - as I generally run mining machines on LINUX which DOES NOT HAVE THIS LAME ISSUE.

I don't think there will be the need of resistors when the plug is converting the signal, it should work as is, but I already bought 75ohm resistors so just testing is left.
