Thanks to everyone who voted!

Very shortly. Bitcoin is a great invention. Is the first materialization of peer to peer technology which now is be applied every day more and more in different field of economy replacing the possible old existing technologies. Is an invention, I think, which will know only development. In which way, this remain to be seen. The time of its legality remain too a big interrogation because is seen yet as an concurrent and not as an big positive invention which can revolutionize the world of currencies. I think that bitcoin will be supported always from the technology which invented it so it will no stop and no disappearance of it.

I'm optimistic about the future, I imagine it being widely accepted as a method of payment and trading. Because of it's decentralized nature, it's bound to be better accepted, which in turn shall increase the value.
I think crypto-currency is highly potent, and is something that will be widely accepted across the globe.
Smiley

Well we're all somewhat optimistic, otherwise we wouldnt hang around here as much. But i disagree with you on this bolded part , since no central authority also makes
every potential new user sceptical, given the fact that they have noone to turn to in the case of theft or fraud.
I believe in decentralisation, but i don't think it's attracting the average Joe, but rather speculators and fast profit seekers.

cheers

Yeah, I don't think people even know what the concept of decentralization is. If you go out on the street and ask people "do you know what decentralization is", it's probably 1 in 10 people that would know what it is, let alone in the context of a Bitcoin.

I think it will, eventually, change the world.  It may very well be like 5-10 years from today but I believe it will happen.  Stay in it for the long haul boys!  Grin

Yes it can change the world only if it is handled in a proper way. People should make aware about the advantages of bitcoin and should be encouraged to use it more and more then only the value of bitcoin will reach to a next level.

If there is nobody to turn to in case of theft or fraud, people will be extra careful about their bitcoins. Average Joe will know that he has to be absolutely sure of security aspects before entering Bitcoin. That is a good thing.  Smiley

Give it some more thought; many people assume that they have someone to turn to in such cases of abuse, only to find the fact that there isn't anyone who can help them.
People are entering bitcoin world without knowing all facts, and when they loose funds for either reason - they feel betrayed, played, hustled. Those people turn their back and don't return, and we don't want that.

cheers

Very rightly said or else it would affect the bitcoin community. And once they have a negative impression about the bitcoin they would spread the same news to their peers or their friends and family that it is not worth to invest in bitcoin as he has gone through losses he will suggest them not to invest in bitcoins as we all know that mouth publicity is the biggest publicity  Huh

I can not choose the second option because in spite the fact bitcoin's price had bubbles and it is going to suffer the same fate as before in the future, the price is not going down to zero. It is going to continue having a steady growth.

so I think that bitcoin has great potentials an I agree with the first option more, and that is the price will grow and it is going to change the financial world.

Yes it can change the financial system but only if the adoption level goes to the maximum or else the future of bitcoin is in dark. And we cannot run away from the reality that still many countries are not aware about the bitcoin so if each and every country start using bitcoin then it can surely create an history.

For the believers, it's easy to see Bitcoin will prevail in the long run. It's logical to see how its benefits will eventually win the hearts and minds of the people. Just keep your head up

For believers everything is easy to see, because they believe... Cheesy

I think you don't have to believe in Bitcoin, even if you take an analytical approach it's pretty clear that it's a much better money system than the corrupt one we have now.

it's better for sure, but it doesn't have support from governments to make it widely adopted. that's why it will stay just an alternative.

it does not need the support from government at all, to stay competitive against fiat, it only need more people using it, that's all, those who do not utilize it, have a problem in handling the bitcoin security, and they are still to addicted to a form of a central security

It is a matter of habit towards the new(bitcoin), you need plenty of time before their habit will be moved toward a decentralized monetary system, like bitcoin

like someone said,(it was satoshi i think) bitcoin can or die or reach the moon, there is no middle way

Exactly there is no middle way for bitcoin. Either it will reach the moon or it will just be an topic of history in the future and people would just keep on talking that there was a currency like bitcoin in the past but it didn't work. How it will work without the awareness level of the people and we don't want that bitcoin should only on the paper we wish that it could change the financial system.

I don't think it can change the world or the financial system of the country. Its behavior would be the same as it is at present It can never bring the revolution across the globe which internet did. Today internet is the basic necessity and there is no alternative for internet but there are many alternatives for bitcoins so we need to take it easy.

but it is stupid to believe in something so blindly. for believers who think bitcoin will rise to the moon and make them rich in over night, they are just going to get hurt and disappointed.
this is why we always see so much panic sells/buys and so many market price swings all over the place.

I think it in the same way you cannot afford to trust something very blindly that it can change the world. Ofcourse we want it should change the world in the coming years as we are using bitcoins but it is difficult to judge at a moment whether it will change the world or it will no more in the future.

There's no doubt that the technology can change the industry of financial transactions. We've seen so much attention and recognition of this from the bitcoin community, the banking community, and the Federal Reserve. The uncertainty that I think still remains is if bitcoin will remain as a currency choice. I don't think that innovation of this project has reached validation or the full level of acceptance yet.

It's possible that the legacy of bitcoin is the technology and that the currency could fade into the history books. (Obviously I'd wouldn't want that, but it's a possibility.)

Old financial system, not necessarily to fight with Bitcoins. They can just take and use it. And then continue to make money.

When I first entered bitcoin I believed it was going to change the financial world for the masses for the better, as time has gone on I don't believe so much anymore that it will do what I first believed. Will it grow I am also skeptical about this but heres to hoping it does  Grin

I am in camp 2 I feel it was a bubble and will roll down to a few dollars not 0 though because to much funds will be pushing it back up and carry on manipulating to make their quick buck.

There were skeptics like you at the start also but some people believed in the concept and they bought it when not many people were buying, and now we know them as 'early adopters' and because they believed in it they received the rewards when it went to the roof.

I believe bitcoin has a great future ahead and the people who believe in it will again be rewarded in future, but it might not be in near future as it will take some time.
I was a skeptic myself at the beginning of my journey with bitcoin. Then I thought there is short way to make bitcoin a global and the most popular payment processor on Earth.
But now I see that is not that easy task. Old financial system is strong and they won't give up easily. On top of that decentralisation is not always something to be proud of.
Sometimes bitcoin need strong leadership and not thousands voices screaming different things. (See the last debate: bitcoin core  vs xt)
