I can't remember what exactly tipped me over the edge of full-on curiosity.

I think it was all the rave about the value going up... oh and Cyprus.

Cyprus showed how banks can do whatever the hell they want with people's money. Kind of an eye opener that one.

We already knew banks and government were on a wrong one, but the Cyprus news condensed it into a single event.

I saw an ad for BFL while on Google Finance a couple months ago. I thought it was like mining in an MMO except you get Bitcoins.  I was about to buy a mini single, but I'm glad I found this place and the threads here.

I was on o poker forum and read about the guy who had a bunch of bitcoins and he forgot about them or something, and after btc jumped above $200 he was a millionare.

Yeah, there are probably a few accidental Bitcoin millionaires.

Sounds like a whole host of reasons! One of the reasons I'm still interested in Bitcoin is the diverse and expansive group that it attracts, it's fascinating.

Follow up question:

How did you get your first Bitcoin(s)?

Interesting question, indeed.
For me, it was a newspaper title at some street booth (I did't buy the newspaper, btw!)...
