Just recently, while we were having lunch, a friend of mine saw me opening an app related to bitcoin. Then he started telling a story about a news he watched in which someone is being accused of using bitcoin to pay for illegal drugs. That's the most that he's heard about bitcoin. Publicity, whether good or bad, is still publicity, as they say. To the common people with no previous knowledge of bitcoin, it is easy to be misled or misinformed about bitcoin because it makes headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Wow, many of us also feel the same though. People around me also don't know about bitcoin, they only know about paypal. Well, for some people bitcoin is not popular.

Increasingly, I am finding that folks around me are becoming open to the idea of BTC. That said, most still see it as a new asset class rather than something that's really gonna transform their lives

Ohhh, I'm pretty sure that we are in the same situation.

Told my previous manager that I use BitCoin, and he's like, "BitCoin funds terrorism" Very negative there. He would argue about everything though, just that kind of person who liked to argue.
My family, they have no knowledge of BitCoin, so they basically are neutral. They don't care whether or not I'm using it or nah.. I'm very bad at explain in person what BitCoin actually is, so I can't do justice for it there.

My friends... well, one of them has trust issues with just about everything, even mention it, he's like no I don't trust banks, I don't trust BitCoin, blah blah blah. Yeah, when you lose your cash you'll change your mind. (People short him all the time at the cashier... With BitCoin and credit/debit cards that's not possible unless they enter value wrong.
Other friends are too poor to use BitCoin. By that I mean, the validity is too off the charts to the point where it goes down $100, rent won't get paid.

I'm alright with that. In time, BitCoin will be as common as the internet. We are just the first wave of whales to get on board with the ship.

So, what do people around you (relatives, co-workers, co-ed, friends...) think about Bitcoin ? Please, indicate your country, so this way I'll be able to make a synthesis about what people think about Bitcoin.

For me : I come from France. My relatives think that it's criminals' tool and that since they can't touch money they don't trust it (note that those same persons are pro-banks, where you can't touch money). My friends think that it is useless and that it has no future. Both of them agree that scare them the most is the Bictoin's price volatibility.

So not so positive Undecided. I hope that you aren't in the same situation.

People thinks that my money is from bad ways of earning like scheme because my country is full of marketing scam so they think im one of the online marketing. I want to clean myself by just introducing them here in bitcointalk to know my earning is from a good ways not bad ways that they think. But the problem here is they dont know how to use gadgets nor computer. So now in their mind its scam, scheme, bad money.

People around me know allmost mo Bitcoin. They know that Bitcoin exist, but have only information from news of how Bitcoin was used to scam people, on the black market for drugs etc... .
No practical experience yet and I see that as problem. I can explain how bitcoin works, what i a Blockchain and how great it`s. But I can`t show them good example from daily life.
They think Bitcoin is not for them Sad

I don't  plan to tell them, cause they probably  don't care and will say that I'm just wasting my time ;-; but it will be nice if they recognized bitcoin as a source of extra income.

Most of my friends don't know about it or just ignore it. For them it's just something for tech geeks and nerds.
And yes also something for criminals...

thats very funny thought your friends have. bitcoin is not something for criminal. but bad and good things are everywhere. it is true that some criminals and fraud people using bitcoin for bad activities but it is not the fault of bitcoin. bitcoin is just an online currency and every currency being used for bad activities, but we should understand bitcoin can't protect itself, it is our responsibility to protect bitcoin from criminals.

Well, my friends also don't know about bitcoin, even they are an IT and computer geeks. They are not believe on online things like bitcoin, they only know paypal.

I made some of my friends to invest into bitcoin by explaining them about the future benefits of bitcoin ecosystem.

I got some 50% success on total number of peoples I have talked to. All the people around me are not ready to listen me about bitcoins but who did listen to me has become a bitcoin adapter.

People in my country dont have a clue for bitcoin.when i tell my friends for bitcoin they found it a waste of time and something fake
now wonder, its happen in some country, and have different reason why bitcoin not much known by people, and what your bitcoin deeloping on your country?any local bitcoin exchange sit in your country?i doubt there was exist an exchange.
I think reasonable bitcoin still unfamiliar in many countries? even paypal who are aged over 17 years old. there are still many people who do not know about paypal?
so natural that bitcoin is still very young. and many people who dont know about bitcoin. deployment of bitcoin is ongoing. so you have to be more patient

well, paypal is only restricted to online payments and it doesn't matter how old it has been around, it is a terrible service.

besides paypal doesn't even work in many countries so it is expected that a lot of people haven't heard about it.

Clueless!
well in 2013 'envious' (FOMO: fear of missing out)

in 2014 "gleeful at the price drop' (happy did not get in)

in 2015 "ignored the whole BTC Universe"

in 2015 "confused" and "envious' (FOMO: again...plus envious....ie somehow this is 'my fault' either 1) because I did not convince them to get in back in the day or

                                                       2) they won't get in and the FOMO is killing them ...thus their only ego save is for it all to go Tulips"

er .....the Newbies are restless imho (thus the anti-btc crowd rushing in makeup speculation in ethereum (the good coin) and because they missed 2013 when btc was BTC drug coin
and those who want in are both terrified they will lose some $$$ or terrified on the FOMO they do nothing and all them $$$ will pass them by..

(from a Social Science point of view gonna write off all this as too much drama too much angst....hopefully something will sink into the society at large's view
of BTC by 2017..from what I can see from the 'simple solutions to complex problems trend with Trump etc..I should prepare to be disappointed I fear that
as the price of BTC is likely to rise after halving...explaining the money I'm making mining is going to be MUCH more annoying to my friends....I suspect much
ear plugging and walking away making a nananananananana sound as to 'cast off' my obvious 'crypto witchcraft' that I'm making money with LTC mining to BTC STILL.

So just gonna have to suck it up and prepare and remember below on explaining BTC to the masses.....it is HARD.....

Unfortunately there is no one even never heard about bitcoin around me, I want to introduce it to them but it seems so hard for them to understand about bitcoin. I have a plan to make a small workshop in order to introduce it to my neighbors, but it requires me some money.
Is there any effective ways to introduce bitcoin to people who never heard about btc? My friends dont know anything about bitcoin i am trying to learn and teach them
