Coins on top for 2017 like EOS, VET, ZEC, DASH, NANO, XTZ...
Can they compete with existing coins like DOT, LINK, coins on DEfi.

Should I invest in old coins?
Old is Gold this is not always true.  If you want to invest, then better do the existing top altcoins. You are more likely to make a profit from these. You will need luck to get profit from investing in old coins.  And not everyone has that.

I don't think they will be left without mooning also. the defi tokens however are a lot of forceful that in the event that you needed to procure quicker than simply holding the old ones, you will be enticed to purchase. In this way numerous financial backers exploit to purchase new coins are modest and trust the cost increments since they have preferable items over old coins, for example, multi-coin wallets that help DeFi stages and moment trades that help new coins with cross-chain stages.

some of these coins have setbacks that will not be able to compete with the newer,
better coins with a better system.

EOS Now  has managed to breakout and is now at the price of 12 $. this year the EOS still has not managed to break through the highest resistance to be able to touch the new ATH. I am including hold on EOS because it is one of the high potential altcoins. many altcoins have touched ATH, but until now, EOS is still showing a positive trend to be able to hit the latest ATH soon

Well, we can't ignore the big changes in the crypto market and see that some of them are still reliable and profiting...but not the majority.

But, I've doubted these coins.
Honestly, they are in a declining situation. Because as we can see now, the new coins are very hot and show aggressive market growth but the problem is that it never finds sustainable. And these new projects will replace by the other new projects.

So I suggest, invest only in Bitcoin or you might consider ETH and BNB. That supposed to be a long-term investment.

You could invest in some of them surely. There is no rule like "old coins will never start increasing again" in the end. And coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum are also considered as old ones. But look what level they have reached now. Especially Ethereum continues to break new records lately.

If the old coin has no price cracks on the market then you should just leave it and don't invest in that coin, you should choose coins that have great developers and there is movement in the market such as BNB, Eth, Ada, and Polkadot.

Your proper knowledge with the market movement will guide you to choose between old and new projects.

as we go forward, there are still old coins that still moving after Bitcoin pumped up, the value of those old

projects became interesting, but like what you've said, if there's nothing from the developing team better to

stay away and follow new projects that contiue to develop.

yes, after the increasing price of bitcoin there have been a lot of old altcoins that have continued to move in the market. it is possible that many of the old altcoins are all heavily dependent on bitcoin prices. could it be like that?

I would say that from what I have experienced since I started trading crypto, Old coins apart from the major ones Bitcoin/Ether, most of them have not done well as the new coins at least the ones I traded back in 2017 that got me good profits have not even made half the price of their last ATH. New coins are performing better now definitely because of new ideas in the development.

For now there is no old coin that you mentioned shines like other new altcoins, so to invest in the old coin I think can not benefit in the near future, but we do not know for the future whether the old coin will increase in price, it is better to invest in coins that are currently increasing in both old and new coins.

The advantage of olds coins is possibly their stability and the solidified community. I had a lot of expectations for ZEC and XTZ. Perhaps these two coins can demonstrate a good result in the future and please all those who have invested in both. The disadvantage of the olds coins is the technology possibly.

My best bet is going for the new coin. I've learnt a lot from the industry and I've come to know that the new coin most times come with new technologies and it takes a good development team to continue with a project after a long time. Most developers tend to abandon the project after facing through some set backs on the project.

Should I invest in old coins?

These old coins have their own purpose and place in the crypto industry. In addition, over this rather long period of time, they have proven their significance. This is confirmed by their market price.
New crypto coins have the same risks as old ones, however they do not have a positive, time-tested history.

Old coins for sure stood the test of time if they are still actively managed, developed and backed by a lively community. At least you know what you are buying. The coins have a history with good and bad moments and you can tell how the bad moments have been manage as well. Nothing bad about getting some of those older coins.

Old coins are like old technology but since roadmap can be updated, these old coins can stand the test of time and can grow even further because they are already known due to the marketing they've had before.

Some are saying that it's like the old dotcom bubble that netscape and some old social media like myspace are going to be replaced. And so Bitcoin will also be replaced later. As of now it's still the top coins despite the existing sophisticated projects like ETH, EOS, and Polkadot.

Roadmap can be updated but usually they all have a core technology that they stick to. If it is a certain technology they need to improve that and show that it is worth using that coin. If they stop to develop it what is the point of using it?

It is not that easy for old coins because the expectations are so high. It is easier for a new coin to set new rules and news expectations.

For the altcoins mentioned as @op, until now, they still have a lot of enthusiasts because of the community and high market cap. However, if the old altcoins that were conceptually formed with the ICO I observed in the years 2017-2018 are now mostly dead projects because there is no clarity update. For people, my advice is to be careful in choosing tokens to invest in the long term

every coin has its own uses, each coin has a different and unique job, that is why you will see a token or coin partner with each other because there are things that they can't do alone if you can see some latest coins are trying the catch up with other old coins, you can't actually be called it old coins in the first place, latest coins exist because of the coin's release before them.

Depends on your research, if the team can promise what they said then just go ahead. For me, NANO is pretty good to. But i don't really like the others, Me, personally prefer to invest in big coin like ETH.

Even though the old coins have indeed lost in terms of innovation and technology from the new coins, some old coins still have great potential to rise, even though very little, most of the old coins are already far behind and can't compete anymore

I wonder what exactly is the relevance between DOT, Link, and all the DeFi, with coins like Dash and Nano.
They are on a completely different level which is not comparable.
Dash and Nano are about adoption as cash and do not have a lot to do with DeFi. You should be comparing apples with apples and not with cucumbers.
It is true that when talking about the relevance of all of that I think it has no relevance at all,
and also we can't compare different things like above,
I hope this discussion can be resolved soon and let's learn to understand more deeply

some old coins will indeed be very valuable in the future, the most difficult thing is to determine which coins will be very valuable in the future, because not all old coins will rise again, most old coins lose to new coins which are more innovative and interesting, therefore old coins will only be trash that will never rise
We only need to invest in old and reputable coins such as bitcoin, ethereum, doge or XRP. You can also invest in Ada or any other old coins that arise on the top 100 on coinmarketcap

However, during the alt season, it is the best to buy new coin, defi project and NFT related cryptocurrency. They bring more profit and higher ROI than usual coins. I have seen my friends participating in initial coin offerings and proliferate the capital to almost 10 times.
