Most of the people do not pay enough attention to the privacy and often become a victims of some sort of scams, fishing or identity theft so yes, it's very important to be aware and take care of it.

Internet is not a hiding place. If you want to keep your privacy tight, may be it is better not ever to share some info on line not even saving them in your PC.

Everyone's privacy should be respected, we can not just peek at other people's private things, it is unethical behavior

Privacy is a normal thing, and everyone has their own privacy. So, I think it's important to allow privacy, to respect privacy, not to spy on privacy.

Do you still think you do not have to care about your privacy ?
For me i don't care about big corporations, i am just another number in their database, what I am worried about is individuals who can target me for their own benefits. Well i know it sounds hypocritical but there isn't much we can do against them. Except take certain measures which again aren't that useful in the first place.
This is where all the things go wrong, and many people don't care about their privacy. Their name, phone number, where you live, habits, all of them is in a risk. They all underestimate what big company can do with all the collected data.

I agree. Because you don't really know what the can do with your date. When you put your term on agreement on such site do you read all what it's written ? Or do you simply flag and sign up?

Most of the time they can sell your data to other organisation - the main purpose for the Apps where apparently you do not have to pay anything...unless your privacy!

I think privacy is important but as long as you have Facebook or anything where you use your real name you can't really be that bothered with it as people can easily find you.

I mean you can still use any social networks for good purpose and yet protecting your identity. That does not mean you have to share your trip's photos  Grin Cheesy

I actually think privacy is very important  Wink

Tips to keep your ID safe:

- Use a VPN
- Firefox add-ons: NoScript, HTTPS everywhere, Privacy Badger, uBlock origin
- Don´t use google (either duckduckgo or startpage)
- If you insist on using social media, regularly check your privacy settings (with updates the options sometimes change) and don´t private photos in general.

I think if you care about your privacy it is reasonable to do things like surf the internet using a TOR browser & covering webcams in your home.  However, with all the microphones they're putting in televisions, phones, and even microwaves nowadays, keeping your audio private can be a more challenging task that will have most people labeling you as paranoid.

I agree with you in some way. I mean you do not have to go crazy with that stuff as you mentioned , cover every webcam, microphones and so on because you get mad.
But knowing that it's possible for someone stole your identity by hacking your low security wall it's definitively possible !
Just keep it in mind - you're not secure if you do not take attention on things.

I didn't see what the point is the thread, but I agree with you many people underestimate their privacy, while actually they privacy is precious and if someone combines it all and studies all the collected data it's going to be bad, its a mass destructive weapon.

Look at his Avatar and his Signature, then you will get it. OP, add your project or the reason for this thread into your post. If you want to collect information for your project, then state this in your post.

My financial privacy is very important and I implement everything I can, to protect it. Using mixer services and not re-using Bitcoin addresses and storing coins on paper wallets not directly linked to my main wallets. ^smile^

There is no real privacy when you online. The first party that know what you are doing is your ISP (Internet Service Provider). They will know what web site you visit, what VPN you connect you and they will know your username and password if you connect to http web site.

How often do you clear your cache when you surf ?
Retargeting programs are way to annoying and distract when you visit a website like other ads, but in that case you have no doubts to be tracked during your navigation.

But even when you’re chatting and even listening your smartphone collect data that can be sold to giant e-commerce or other agency to make you buy their products. And as we saw on the last US presidential election, that data can determinate a vote.

Said that, aren’t you a quite scared about your privacy?
Too many times I’ve read “ I have nothing to hide so I do not care” but that is not totally true. What if I can see how much money you have with you in your pocket or in your wallet smartphone? And If I can hack your unlock password ( don’t tell me you have 2323 or 0000 code!!! ) I can access to your funds and easy steal it from you.

What about recording what you are talking every day on your house with your family like as Echo may do ?
What if I know in which streets you usually drive on monday? So I can plan to “visit” your home?

Do you still think you do not have to care about your privacy ?

I do expect this thing which we are really fully on private and i do always believe that theres do always eyes who do look on the things that we do and anything that passes through the cloud isnt really safe at all. Data can be stolen and can be seen for those who do have the capability to do such thing. Ex. Government, Hackers..This thing is actually true this is why i dont really expose myself too much on online things but yet not all can really be seen by them as long we do know how to secure things up but we dont actually know on whose watching us.

Never Tongue, there is something called incognito mode and 'Do not track' feature. I like to use those instead.

Do you have any source to prove this?
