Even though the cryptocurrency industry is not new to ups and downs, 2019 has turned out to be the year with the most surprising reveals. The long-lasting bear market of 2018 moved market analysts to call it the year of regulatory reckoning, leaving many jurisdictions uncertain about how to treat cryptocurrencies. However, 2019 also turned out to be the year of the comeback.

Enter the new year immediately,Why not review the hot topics of crypto in 2019?

Surely analysis, if the bitcoin is going to recover from the dump, happened in 2020, or is this bitcoin going to surpass the ATH history in the market.
Also, a lot of criticism about ICO and altcoins in the market a lot of people look at them as they are already useless and a lot of users do not trust altcoins anymore in the market because they are not a great investment either.

This is because people insist on being greedy and falling for really silly scams. It makes crypto look bad and people start to blame ICO and crypto as a whole instead of the people who support scams which is often themselves. I really hope 2020 is the year people finally start supporting great projects that are not just a dream on paper but the actual product you can use the crypto for instead of hoping that the price will go up for a coin or token that does nothing.

Scam by IEO and ICO become most popular topic because almost in 2019 many people got scam with IEO and ICO because have lower price after coin can be trading, maybe in new year ICO and IEO can back success again with higher price and have many IEO and ICO will listed on bigger exchange market to give chance for investor earn much profit.

Yes indeed, there's a lot of scam lurking around and we are all exhausted by this and I think that it is really necessary for all of us to become aware of all the situation,  as per me, whenever there are newbies, or my friends would like to join this forum, I am not threatening them but I am giving them the idea of what's happening in crypto world.
I think that story is already a trend in 2017-2018 although there are still some investors who still falls for the scheme of the ICO and IEO back then. But let's not forget the trend of the fake Satoshi who wants to be the front page of every news. The bitcointalk/Bitcoin 10th anniversary and many more including the halving this year is also a hot topic.

Probably there were trendy topics like the launch of Bakkt. I remembered that the price went downwards instead of upwards that day, but it was like a preparation of bulls to push so after few days of the launch we got a short bull run after that but got exhausted in the end and now we're here in 7k.

And we're stuck to this $7k I guess bakkt has something to do with it too.

ETH2.0 were pretty much discussed and will still be discussed this year as well, some say it will take more months before ETH will finally turn POS. Halving were pretty much talked in every thread specially the speculation when when it will happen this year. There are set of another topics that weren't thoroughly touched like the digital currencies of central banks.

For me, The price of Bitcoin was always the main hot topic of crypto in 2019, not only in this year, That's the main issue since a long time because almost everything is dependable on this Bitcoin halving, I wish 2020 will bring a good and positive vibe to this cryptocurrency world, without halving, it's not possible to bring out this thing, another hot topic was related to China, they have declared that Blockchain is very potential for the future generation, So people are getting involved in this blockchain industry day by day.
I do agree, since it is always being watched and most of the time it is the most discussed topic everywhere. A lot of people is still waiting for another ath or any sudden movement of bitcoin.
This coming 2020, it will surely bring something that we do nit expect, since there are more countries to adopt crypto and blockchain technology.

With 2019 already behind us and already a part of the cryptocurrency history, it is always good to take a good review of the many things that transpired in that year and maybe learn a thing or two as we are moving along to the year 2020 bringing in hopes and better perspective of things. Maybe I will remember 2019 as a much better year than 2018 which was a winter time for cryptocurrency. Last year, there was that surge going away from the low $3,000 level experienced in 2018. And of course, who will never forget the sudden pump of Bitcoin's price due to that false news coming from China insinuating the possibility that the country is adopting cryptocurrency when in fact it was more on the blockchain technology. I am sure that China will still be a major force in this industry affecting many facets and many movements.

I am just responding to the OP, who is asking which topics do we think are hot in crypto in the year 2019. That announcement coming from the president of China himself was indeed hot. The president did not mention Bitcoin. He did not even mention cryptocurrency, if I am not mistaken. But still it made the headlines of crypto publications. That is not something to wonder because many crypto publications are writing in their headlines news that are not really news worthy. They are writing articles that are written for the sake of having something to publish.

Rather he emphasized on blockchain adoption. This news not only became headline of crypto network but also took price of bitcoin to 12000 $. Such things are not good for bitcoin as it will give more strength to idea that bitcoin is purely on speculations.

For as long as the adoption of Bitcoin as a currency is rising steadily, it is not a problem if Bitcoin's price is also rising due to outside influences such as a statement of support of someone who leads a huge nation with massive market potential. After all we cannot avoid people to speculate on Bitcoin's price. It has in fact grown to be a sort of a speculative asset. But China's statement is not one that supports Bitcoin. That is the bad part.

I saw allot of drama in 2019 concerning roger ver and a craig the faketoshi. And for me it is quite not that important to bring back the memories they've created and lets start the new year with positive and more productive outcomes. Especially to have some new year's resolution that we should learn the basics of market analysis and how to efficiently trade cryptocurrency in short, to make our 2020 memorable by earning more profits in crypto space with less drama.

One of the most hot topics during 2019 from Cryptocurrencies are the countries that have adopted massively such virtual currencies.

Allowing their residents to have such good adoption and appealing usage on their daily lives.
Once the first ones started, many more have followed the same motion and allowed Crypto to become even more popular than previous years.

This is what is most important to me from 2019.

PredX - AI-Powered Prediction Market
in my opinion there are some hot topics 2019 that are often discussed in this forum are:
1. discuss and predict bitcoin halving day in 2020
2. about blockchain technology today more and more countries, companies and banks will adopt blockchain technology. the president of china also gave a statement that he supported the blockchain.
3. altcoin which continues to decline.
4. And finally about Craig Wight who claims to be Satoshi.
Besides the hot topics you have come up with, I think that IEO related topics are well worth the attention. Clearly in 2019, IEO helped the cryptocurrency market grow, we saw a series of altcoins and bitcoin grow in the middle of 2019. But until IEO was abandoned, everything went back to how it was. This market needs more new things to attract investors, and in 2020 we will see events bigger than 2019, surely a strong bull run will take place

I felt like more and more people became aware of the existence of Bitcoin this year but sadly, most of them just treat it as a "get rich quick" scheme instead of a long-term investment. The knowledge is the key here and people need to get more educated about BTC.
Because they fear the market will collapse like late 2017 and early 2018. Investors lost too much money during that time and now they are a lot more careful, in fact not who else invested long term in this market any longer? everyone will be willing to dump it all if they get a little bit of a profit, so in 2019 the market cannot go up too high because psychology of investors is scared.

This is as far as I can remember. Bakkt is finally opened. After several launching dates, it was finally launched late in 2019. The volume started very low and slowly rising until reaching tens of millions in USD. Another was that Chinese president Xi Jinping announces support for Blockchain. The announcement coming from the president himself was very popular hitting the headlines of many crypto publications.

I would agree with the Bakkt launching, but what I don't understand is why are people saying that the Chinese president statement has something to do specially bitcoin? Bitcoin is not the same as Blockchain Technology.

The Chinese President statement is pro Blockchain and not pro bitcoin so stop mentioning it as one of the hot topics of 2019 because you are buying on that myth.

Eloncoin.org - Mars, here we come!
I look forward to a new round of bakkt, and also blockchain-based business.

China promises to start running effectively in 2020, they will be a differentiator and even a forerunner of the emergence of greater things if they succeed in gaining national influence. Apart from the news, the latest developments from CME etc. can also be positive pulleys. Both of these topics were quite hot during 2019 accompanying the topic of increasingly strong Halving speculation.
