I think the best event was Chinese president statement in which he emphasized that China should go for blockchain adoption and this resulted in biggest bull run of 2019 taking BTC to 12000$.

It's the past. It's dead. Who gives a shit?

What is interesting about 2019 is the first glimmers of issues that will become much more important in future.

My vote for that goes to exchanges getting weird about mixed coin as demonstrated by Binance and Wasabi and services like Bakkt and the possibility for rehypothecation that's just beginning but might turn rampant.

hot topic is when the price of bitcoin almost touched $ 14k in mid-2019 and also about the launch of Bakkt which currently does not look attractive to make bitcoin prices rise, other than that nothing hot topic is discussed, the rest is about hacking exchanges and boring to hear it

Even though the cryptocurrency industry is not new to ups and downs, 2019 has turned out to be the year with the most surprising reveals. The long-lasting bear market of 2018 moved market analysts to call it the year of regulatory reckoning, leaving many jurisdictions uncertain about how to treat cryptocurrencies. However, 2019 also turned out to be the year of the comeback.

I agree, I think this year is the year that was meant for for high regulatory scrutiny. The crypto scene has been very disruptive for the past for years. The ICO scene was so wild it was being compared to the Wild West, from time past where regulation, policies, and law itself operated on some rough and really murky waters due to there being no proper enforcement agencies on the scene. The U.S as we know it was still a young budding, developing country in the midst of building a solid enough foundation to stand on. Mean while at that time civil unrest was happening between the American north and American south. A lot of time, money and energy went into actually uniting the states as many where divided.
During this period, the western states where rural, ranging from prairies, to mountains, to valleys and desserts. A lot of these territories didn't have a strong enough law enforcement, and thus the scene was called the Wild West. In order to get a clearer picture of the scene, just check out an episode of one of these old "American Western" (shows) portraying those times and events, like  "Guns Smoke", "RawHide", "Bonanza" and the "Rifleman" just to name a few.
The Crypto scene at the time was very similar, a little unorganized and and very unregulated. Regulation was bound to happen, it is the only sure way to get institutional investors involved. In my opinion, the only way to push forward is to find a middle-ground with the policy makers and regulators and reach a compromise that leaves us with clear guidance for navigating within these murky waters and gray areas of law.

Well on the most anticipated event in the Bakkt launching this year. However, it didn't get enough traction as people grew tired of waiting plus we're still in the bear market so we really didn't feel the impact.

Another is the whales that pump the price in April 2, yes it was April fools' and everyone thought that it was a joke. But it was real as it gets as the price pump from $3k-$6k and culminating to $13k pump in June.

What gives me interest this year is the hot news regarding Craig Wright wherein he claims to be the real Satoshi. Until now, he is still being talked and being interviewed by some people and he still continues to claim that he really is satoshi.
Aside from that, the news about halving. It is positive news for me since this might be the trigger for the sudden increase in the price of bitcoin.

The most exciting thing for me throughout 2019 was the news of the launch of the Libra coin, which made rumors around the world especially the president D. Trump who picked up this news at the time. On the other hand there are top and best exchanges that experience hacking and losing fantastic bitcoin. Well that's all I know.

I always laugh about the phrase of most analysts about 2019 like 'it will be altcoin season'. HAhaha oops, a mistake again

Apart from the technical gossips and financial fluctuations, I believe the hottest topic of 2019 was about an imposter named Craig Wright who tried to copyright the bitcoin whitepaper and early source code during Mid 2019. And very surprisingly the US copyright office actually granted the copyright to him.

This news came to us as a shocker as we didn't expect this to happen! However, more drama unfolded after Wei Liu claimed the same. But we enjoyed it thoroughly!

Surely the hotest topic now in cryptocurrency is all about bitcoin halving and huge personalities supporting/critizing bitcoin and the whole cryptocurrency world. Halving is a big news because it only happens every approximately 4 years and it happening make a headline because halving also gives positive effects in bitcoins price.

There are too many hot topics this year, the hot thing that came up to my mind is the faketoshi wherein even made a website and detailing everything pretending that someone will believe in him, he didn't know that not all of us were fool that can easily believe in him with only those evidence just like his old laptop.

I cant think of any hotter topic than the coming btc halving because everyone is expecting something very good in return in 2020. But i doubt nothing good will happen next year just like the past halving which tends to rise right after a year after the halving. I am one of those who hopes something good next year but i wont expect too much. Still have plenty of time though.

I felt like more and more people became aware of the existence of Bitcoin this year but sadly, most of them just treat it as a "get rich quick" scheme instead of a long-term investment. The knowledge is the key here and people need to get more educated about BTC.
