Of course, it's not slavery by the strict definition, as historical human slavery involves owning someone and dictating their every action. Nowadays, people have the freedom to choose their paths and can achieve wealth through their efforts. However, if we consider the term "slavery" more broadly, then, yes, people can become slaves to the current system, where individuals are systematically thrust into poverty. Even debt, under this definition, can render someone a "slave" to the circumstances.

It is said in ancient times that the dreams of a slave are nothing but to become the master of the slaves. I say that many in our society have become slaves that have even smaller dreams - namely buying a bigger car to go to their slave work or get a bigger slave hut.

do you think you are a slave? That your work does not make any difference & others benefit from it while you just run to keep on your feet?

I think that one worthy dream is to try that you children are not to be in the same situation. This has a lot to do with gaining financial freedom for them.

We have been slave to many things unknowingly to us, that is why you can begin to discover some people are having this money with them but yet a slave to money because they are not enjoying it and are not having the rest of mind as it do requires for a person to receive the kind of comfort needed when there's money with you, we need money to have peace of mind, grow the same positive thinking people around us, help others and be successful in life.

Well, it's not that simple, 9-5 worker is not a slave at all. A slave is probably a person who is an illegal immigrant and has to do some shit job for shit payment that will only be enough to feed him. Those ones who work 9-5 jobs and get 6 digits a year, are not slaves. But there is a slave personality among many people. There are people who have enough knowledge and money to say no to their work and start a business but they don't do it, they don't want to risk anything in life and prefer guaranteed salary over unguaranteed and risky huge profits.
To my mind, if you live in a first world country, in a family with high income and you still work 9-5 and can't start your own business, you have a slave personality. People with this personality don't dream about starting their own business, they want only guaranteed salary in the end of the month and some fun in clubs.

In the previous era this slave system was prevalent many people were victims of capitalism but the era has changed a lot not everyone is a victim of this capitalism everyone has the right to enjoy their own freedom. We can now make our own decisions salary and willingness to work in all areas of business and commerce is the path to financial success. All this was not freedom during capitalism.

I may not understand you too well Op but to my best to offer, I'd say that job condition you finds to be a slavery isn't what you think, it's just terms and conditions of the job and you've options to decide if you'd accept to work it or you leave it.
Only that due to how hard live has been, most cases a common man could find some nature of jobs to do are like conditional slave jobs due to the excessive tasks and some with hard labours and at the end of it you earns little far below the worth of your labour.
This happens mostly to be tolerated at when there's no just choice to earn money to settle with your most challenges in life. Most are feeding and shelter. So how what you've passed through as unbearable should energize one to setup to some levels so that your next generation doesn't face the same thing. Slavery is a tough war whereas the jungle doesn't have to give you a honorary recognitions.
So if you want think good for your future and for the next of your generations to come, start up building the hedges to make a better change.

I've always been a rebel and did not want to follow my hard-working friends and family. I went to a few "normal" jobs but the entry level money was so low that it always took me a few months to lose interest in a job. There were some nicer jobs that I did, but the pay was always bad. Literally out of a dozen jobs that I had in my last year of university and the first 3 or 4 years after paid really bad. The wage was barely enough to pay all the bills and buy food and you were left with $100 in my local currency which was enough to maybe go to a movies, get drunk a few times, or buy yourself some new clothes.

There was no way to save up for a car or a house. If I stayed in these jobs I'd never be able to afford anything, so I quit, started looking for jobs on the side and so it went.
I started investing, avoiding taxes, trading bitcoin using cash... I think I did well over the years and stayed under the slave owner's radar.

Salary is the modern day slavery, well if your starting life as poor then there is no other way than go through the system and beat it. Obviously it offers ways to becomes financially success for everyone but only who are desperate and never give up eventually succeed at the end. It could take decade or even who generation to move up to the next level than current financial state and obviously it is necessary to pass all the knowledge you gathered if you want your heritage to be on the top of the system one day.
This is just how the system is that we can do without, it is common that we all must pass through thus system just to gain some financial ground. But what is bad is when remains to be a salary earner all through in life and not trying to make something that can generate money for his/herself.  We just get carried away once we start earning salary and forget to pursue our dreams. The salary people receives makes them to forget what they are supposed to do in life.

There are various reasons why someone settled for a life they got instead of chasing a life they want, the main reason could be their financial background like their family is having hard time so as you doesn't want them to suffer anymore and try to contribute financially by going to the job even if you don't like the job at all.

Regular jobs are biggest modern day slavery as initially you like the comfort and gradually you get trapped and so does your income doesn't quite catch up with the inflation and in order to pay the bills, EMIs you end up being struck there forever. But If you ask some one who don't have a job and struggling for food or someone from war ravaged country it will be like heaven or dream for them to sit and work in an Air conditioned office with company provided snacks so here is the thing it has both good and bad but it's upto us to somehow save something or learn skill and then start something of our own instead of being struck there for ages.

Modern slavery is different to being a 9am to 5pm worker. Some people use it as an insult towards salaried 9am to 5pm workers but the reality is most of us are in that position. A modern slave is far worse than a regular salaried worker. I feel sad for anybody that is involved in modern slavery. It is rare these days though, we do not have a slave trade in First World countries in the 21st century.

I see most of these in Asian countries where people mostly work 24/7 without even getting any decent rest because if anything does not go normal in their job, they are easily replaced. That's why I just wanted to become a businessman and have my store, even though the income is small, at least I can easily handle the job and have lots of time for myself. Unlike those who work at the factory, they are often tired and have less time with their families since their jobs require them to wake up early and work a whole day just getting small salaries from it. I think they are just making this up, they don't want to divert their workers into working and building their own business, and the best thing to prevent that is giving them just enough salary for their essential needs without even getting enough money to save after that.

Based on the content of the post, I think I am one of the modern-day slaves. I have been on a job for about seven years without any upward review of my earnings even in the face of two-digit inflation. Meanwhile, the politicians that run my organisation are living in plenty and splendour because their wages are reviewed annually.

I do not want my children to suffer the same slavery I am enduring this is why we are ingesting time and resources on their morals and education. I believe that the best legacy or inheritance to keep for a child is not money or houses, but a good name, good morals, financial education and formal education. It is not also bad to leave an estate behind for your children but they might waste these hard-earned resources if they don't receive the right upbringing. I would prefer to keep a good name that can open doors for my children if I am gone. My positive contribution to the development of my community would be a good legacy.

Anyone who's working under someone's company can be considered a modern slave because they're buying your time and you're working for them. I know that it doesn't sound like that we're slave and we're professionals but this is the idea what these corporations have injected to our minds. That we have to study very well so that we'll get better compensation and be employed with the dream company of ours. That's what's in it with the traditional educational system and that's hard to remove while we work so hard our ass off, we've been also told about having dreams of owning our dream house, our own cars that are gonna be paid with mortgage and not with cash so that we'll keep on working under them.

But as we grow older, we do realize that these are like well-programmed things in life by the corporations and the media. I agree that when if we want our children to have a better life, yes, education is basically one of the best things that they can inherit from us. But on top of that, we can inherit them our businesses, our skills, our lands, rental properties, assets, etc. Those things that do matter that they won't need to work under them and they are working for their own company, for themselves and they're the ones that are providing jobs for the other people. I know that it sounds like utopia but this is possible in modern times when opportunities are scattered and we just have to think outside the box to see most of them.

I think that one worthy dream is to try that you children are not to be in the same situation. This has a lot to do with gaining financial freedom for them.

In this present time I think there are different opportunities that can help someone live above his family status especially those from poor and average family. The internet has become a platform for different investment opportunity for anyone to take advantage of without limitation. The only limitation that I see is the one created by the individual himself and that is through procrastination and not having the vision for the future.

The future is always in our hands now unlike there were opportunities in the past. In few months back, Bitcoin was still below $30,000 but some left their money in fiat form and kept in the bank allowing the bank make use of that money by lending to people who have vision to invest while they charge interest on their money but send the owner of the saved money debit alert for account maintenance  Grin Is that not appalling?

People have moved on from saving in fiat but to hodl in btc or other crypto for margin profit and just about now the price of btc is $64k while altcoins are also increasing. This is life changing for the visioneers who have seen the possible bull run during this season of halving to invest to get away from the limitation of financial freedom.

I think we have all fallen victims to capitalism. Everything we consume is driven by capitalism. People nowadays are more focused on buying things that they do not even need. The problem is that we all willingly fall victim for it.

We work ourselves to the bone so we can buy expensive things because it’s the one that is on trend. It’s absolutely devastating that our whole life is dedicated to working because of these materialistic tendencies.

You nailed it DeathAngel. A few days ago a member of my local board shared some news about a criminal band that was using actual slaves in a developing country to build some crypto business, and fortunately these slaves were eventually freed from their captors by the police. It is true that a minority in the world holds most of power and wealth, and if they work is because they want, not because they need it, while the rest of mortals have to work to pay debt even if we don't want to do it; but IMO this is far from real slavery, unless we use this term in a metaphorical sense.

When we talk about civilization, we shouldn't forget that contemporary days are not the end of the story, and although some would argue that the schedule of a typical worker in the developed country is a modern form of slavery, the fact is that in these countries things have improved a lot compared to the conditions of yesteryear. Ideally, a day will come when nobody will have to do what he/she wants to do in order to earn a living, but until this day comes we are free to follow the steps needed to improve our lives, by learning, for example, which is something that is prohibited to real slaves.

If you don't want to learn new things because you prefer to watch TV, participate all day in stupid debates in social media, or watch sports with your friends in your spare time, instead of looking for a way that would lead you to the desired financial freedom, you may think that by making these decisions you are free, but metaphorically speaking, you may be behaving like the modern slave you are expected to be, because you are not taking advance of this important prerogative that is denied to actual slaves.

The gap between the rich and the poor is very wide in most developing and underdeveloped nations, the rich and influential will do everything in their power to make the poor to remain in the lowest class, so they'll continue to exploit them by paying them peanuts for an elephant's job. Freeing oneself from the shackles of mental slavery and working to achieve financial freedom depends on where you are, if you're in a country where the leaders are always oppressing the poor with economic implementations that favors only the rich, then it'll be hard for the common man to escape poverty. Many poor people have the mindset to better their fortunes but the enabling environment to flourish their ideas is not provided by the government, this is why the rate of migrants to developed countries is on the increase.

Many people are being slaves these days due to the nature of there jobs that has not comfort or time for relaxation.
Some persons are so attached to there work and always eagered not to make mistakes so that they would not be fired.
Working should just be something that we need to put all our life into, we supposed to have time for ourselves wnd family too not trying ti satisfy the boss which has the power to cancel our contract.

Op this topic is deep it goes beyond motivation, for me this it's a pity that I have not reach my goal but still believe I will soon.

What we see now is modernized slavery, in another word the mire you look the less you see, mostly in the area of some private sector slavery of not time for family and oneself at the end end up feeding and changing of clothes but haven't changed the spheres one generation to come so pathetic.

The most painful slavery is the oath taking that realms one spiritual life it take all that make you human and being tide to another supreme being that can take your life with just little deviations.
