premined, that gives some presure to the devs to increase the coin price on the excanges.

Well, when you have coin like Quark with 98% premine yes, that puts some pressure on DEV´s to continue working on the coin because they just cant dump in one go so many coins! In time they have to make an effort to push and promote the coin, creating partnerships and trying to spread the coin to flow into markets and if people take interest in the coin and its structure, the coin takes off almost on its own due to so many parties already involded OR it can be a long term pump and dump for all parties involved /scary Grin

DOGE for example if it stays as its has been one of the most profitable coins to mine for awile long you can rest assure it wont die because real investments are taking place around DOGE.

Then you have the instantmine and premine like around 2% claim from DEV´s for Giveways, bountys, etc... to sustain the coin. These are tricky because either its a dumping coin as soon it hits a market like for example Mooncoin or it can be a coin to watch and keep an eye on like Earthcoin for future investment!

And lately we had coins popping up like cherries which at launch dont have source codes ( WICH IS A REAL DANGER BECAUSE ANYTHING THAT YOU DOWNLOAD IS A POTENTIAL VIRUS) wallets or anything else but a DEV with a premine coin to just dump hit at the first chance he or they can get Shocked

So, this is the general overview that in my opinion you have to look and think what you want from a coin to give to the world as a currency but probably its just me Wink

Good trading

For fucks sake, stop spreading false info and lies! QRK was never pre-mined. Read the announcement thread

there's nothing wrong with a lil premine just as long as you use it to develop the coin. A lot ppl here think they should get rich off of your hard work well I say F them in the but... Miners think they are entitled to get first dibs on a coin when they do absolutely nothing

This is by far the best post so far. Thanks for your input! It's going to be 101% open source with only like 0.05% premine to supply competitions and the like. Smiley

Neat! I'll look into that, but remember, the goal of it is to keep it simple. Not complicate things by adding more. Wink

Thanks for all your thoughts! I understand many of you are against the development of new currencies, but what's the harm in doing so? If people love Bitcoin, they'll stay and I see it as doing the community a service as in getting the word out about cryptocurrencies (yes... there are people who have no idea what they are). I'll put the posts here into consideration as I continue developing.

There's no harm, but there's really no need for new ones either unless they bring something new.

I'm thinking about a totally new wallet design, simpler install, and really just cutting the crap out of cryptocurrencies to their most basic form.

Innovation.

There's only been one exciting innovative coin this week, and it failed because it got bombarded with instaminers. The situation is just crazy now.

No more scam coins.
No more of this second generation of crypto (ie: fancy way of saying next generation of scam coin)

We don't need more coins.

We need better adoption.

I'm currently building an alt-coin for minimalists, perfectionists, and designers. What would you like to see in such a coin? I intend on totally revamping the UI for the QT wallet, I created stunning custom marks, and am working on a zen website that couldn't make it simpler to get started.

I don't want to see any more alts  Cheesy. Unless there's something revolutionary or unique I don't see the point.

I totally see your point. I just wish to leave my mark on the cryptocurrency community. My difference is that most alt-coins today can be ugly in design, install, building, mining, etc. My point in the creation of a new one is to remove all the clutter and make starting with the coin as easy as three button clicks.

That does not require a new coin.

Just do it to a real, useful, popular coin to make it even easier for everyone to use it.

-A coin that could be a standard after BTC/Litecoin/---

-A lite-client that doesn't need the whole blockchain,

-Opensource, have all major os clients ready

-Have an algorithm that mining can only begin ~n weeks after launch.
