two things would make Bitcoin much more useful.
1) A bitcoin debit card. Just purchase anything with the card and instant convert. I would pay a 2% fee for this.
2) Payanybody banktransfer. Allow me to bank transfer dollars but from bitcoin. So I can pay rent and bills in bitcoin.

Day to day stuff: food, beer, rent, electricity etc
I want to buy directly from my Jewellery suppliers so I don't have to sell Bitcoins any time I want something, would make life much easier once I get earning as does any merchant accepting Bitcoin keeps on doing, being able to buy computer components and games alone though with just Bitcoin is still pretty awesome by itself.

I think the biggest challenge to BTC is the "buy and hold" mentality of most, rather than understanding the "current" flow that makes a "currency" something to be desired.
The best way is getting paid in Bitcoin, then you have to spend. Hard to say if other than freelancers will ever get paid in Bitcoin in the future...
